The Legendary Rebuilding of a World by a Realist Demon King Chapter 55
The moment the match began, it was surprisingly Jeanne who made the first move.
She charged forward with an expression so vicious that it was hard to imagine she was the same person who was usually so calm and composed.
âIt is I who will accompany the Demon King! I will go into the dungeons with him!â
She shouted as she moved forward.
âI donât even care about that anymore. But I cannot lose to you, lady. I wonât hold back.â
 He swung his bamboo sword.
The sound that rang did not sound like bamboo swords hitting one another.
The blades cut through the air at a speed that made you think wind blades would start shooting out.
While they were bamboo swords, you would not be left unharmed if you got hit.
I was starting to sweat a little just watching them. However, the fight continued without either being able to hit the other.
It raged on, and I half-expected to see sparks fly.
Toshizou was not big, but he was still bigger than Jeanne, and so he loomed over her.
Because of this difference, and since he was a man, many thought he had the advantage. However, Jeanne was good with her feet.
And she seemed to notice that she could not win by physical power alone. And so she put in a kick.
It was hardly what you would expect from a Saint, but she had fought through the battlefields of France.
You could not expect her to act sophisticated.
Toshizou seemed to have seen it coming, and he dodged the attack and jumped back.
 All of this happened instantly.
Things moved incredibly swiftly in smooth motions.
The audiences watched with such concentration that many forgot to breathe.
I was captivated by the movements of these two Heroes.
They continued to trade thunderous blows.
But neither was able to land an attack. There was no end in sight.
Perhaps they were too evenly matched.
âIs this going to go on forever?â
Eve asked. I shook my head.
âIt will end soon. I think Jeanne will win.â
How do you know? Eve looked surprised. I told her that watching Jeanne closely would be better than any explanation.
âThose bamboo swords are reasonably durable, but they wonât last forever. They will break soon.â
 And my prediction was accurate.
The moment that Toshizou and Jeanneâs swords touched again, they bent.
 Eve watched in disbelief.
 âAre you a prophet, master?â
âDonât exaggerate. Well, that should be it for the fight, but Iâm not too sure they will let it end here. Perhaps they are too angry.â
As I said this, Toshizou and Jeanne threw away their swords and went to pick up their weapons.
Toshizou grabbed his Izuminokami Kanesada sword.
Jeanne picked up the holy blade, Nouvelle Joyeuse.
And they targeted each other in earnest.
It wasnât because of hatred, it was their combative spirit.
And no one could erase a warriorâs will to fight.
They ignored the signals of the goblin referee, and they continued to fight.
The swords swung towards each other, but never was there a fatal hit.
Toshizouâs sword slashed Jeanneâs side, cutting a line through her clothes.
At the same time, Jeanneâs sword flew passed Toshizouâs face, cutting a line across his cheek.
However, their movements grew more vicious and deadly after that.
It seemed like they were now targeting each otherâs vital organs.
If this continued, they could die.
It was when I thought this, that I used teleportation magic to move between them.
I grabbed Toshizouâs sword with my right hand and Jeanneâs sword with my left.
Once both attacks were stopped, I shouted.
My voice was enough to bring them both back to their senses.
 They sheathed their swords.
 ââŚPerhaps I grew a little too angry.â
 ââŚI was too passionate.â
 Jeanne confessed to her god.
And like that, this first battle between the two Heroes ended in a draw.
This was a disappointment to those who betted on them, but the spectators were mostly satisfied and raised their voices and cheered.
 âJeanne! Jeanne! Jeanne!â
 âHijikata! Hijikata! Hijikata!â
 Both of them were praised.
As they looked a little lost, I told them both to wave at the people, and so they did.
Then the crowds roared and called out my name.
âDemon King! Demon King Ashtaroth! The strongest of all kings. He has blessed us! May you reign forever!!â
The shouts of the crowd seemed to continue on forever.
