The lights illuminated the entire laboratory as if it were daylight.
Leo had a rare leisure moment. He neither put on mechanical tentacles nor did he use Mechanical Force, but simply used a wrench and a screwdriver, manually reassembled Steamâs limbs and signal transmitter back. Although doing so was inefficient, he worked thoroughly without the slightest hurry.
Half an hour later, he finished tightening the last screw. Tossing the screwdriver in his hand into the toolbox next to his feet casually, Leo clapped his hands, âDone!â
âBuzz!â Steam waved its pair of arms and rotated its track, happily running around in the spacious lab.
Faintly smiling, Leo picked up the toolbox and walked to the workbench. Sitting on a chair in front of the workbench, he stretched his body and gathered the junk on the workbench.
Then, he instructed, âSteam, stop playing! Come here and clean the mess on the table. Throw the trash away and keep the tools.â
Steam rapidly pushed a cart over with its flickering eyes and meticulously sorted the stuff on the workbench before placing everything where it belonged. While Steam already possessed its consciousness, it was still hardworking and diligent.
Leo smiled and took out Viper Mark VI from his pocket, placing it on the empty workbench. With a wave of his hand, the armor returned to normal and everything stored in the armorâs chest compartment was also ejected out. Three fingernail-sized boxes levitated in the air before landing on his right hand.
Waving his other hand, he kept the shrunk armor back in his pocket. He then gazed at the three boxes with excitement and pleasure. These three tiny boxes were worth more than three billion dollars!
The very definition of fortune was what they were.
Sizing up the lab, he realized the lab was quite spacious, but it was far from enough to store every material in the boxes. Even the whole El Buildingâs basement was barely enough to fit everything.
When the box was built, it only had three hundred cubic meters in size, but its content was far beyond its volume!
One should know that these materials were used by a thousand or so H.Y.D.R.A. personnel in the caves. Such was the miracle of Pym Particles, the ability to bypass the law of the universe and hold everything in a square inch. Therefore, it was deemed the blackest black technology in the Marvel Universe.
Leo thought if Tony Stark possessed the formula of Pym Particles and used it well, beating a particular purple being into pulps wouldnât be an issue!
Now that the lab was unable to store the materials, he believed it was time to establish his second base. On top of that, he was going to build a mechanical army later on and he required a large working place as El Building was far from enough!
âHowever, where should the second base be located?â He began exploring his thoughts.
His current flying speed was breakneck and he could arrive at any spot in the United States in a short time, it was similar to going out for a stroll. So, he could pick anywhere in the country. But to coordinate with El Building, he felt it was best not to choose a place too far away.
âLetâs choose New York Cityâs suburbs!â
The land there was inexpensive and he could have a large base without spending a lot of money. Besides, when the base was built, he could shrink the base into a suitcase just like in the movie âAnt-Man and the Waspâ, pulling it wherever he went!
Subconsciously nodding, he was delighted with this decision.
âItâs decided then. Iâll ask Olâ Tom to work on it when the sun rises!â
A moment later, Leo suddenly felt slightly fatigued and stretched his body. He had experienced too many things today, ranging from stopping a missile barehandedly to screwing a screw for nearly twenty hours without any rest.
Usually, twenty hours of continuous work wouldnât tire him but today was too laborious. He figured he needed to have a good rest first.
Thus, he stashed the three boxes in his pocket and entered the bedroom in the lab to sleep.
âŠâŠ
The sun rose and it was a sunny day.
The weather in New York City was gradually getting hotter. The change wasnât evident in the men, but if one were to glance at women on the street, one would realize more and more were wearing skirts.
For some reason, the New Yorkers were unbothered by yesterdayâs ear-splitting air raid siren as many still woke up and continued their day. Perhaps, it was also possible that they were used to it.
Naturally, Leo woke up even earlier and at the moment, was steadily working on the unfinished Arc Reactor while wearing the mechanical tentacles.
Out of the blue, Steamâs voice echoed in the underground, âBuzz! Master, an incoming call from Olâ Tom. Accept it?â
Coincidentally, Leo was going to find Olâ Tom and now that Olâ Tom was calling him, it was just as he wanted. Thus, he stopped the work at hand and let Steam answer the call.
Once the call was accepted, Olâ Tomâs anxious voice could be heard, âMy dear boss, you finally picked up!â
âWhatâs the problem?â Leo was puzzled.
âUm⊠Nothing. The air raid sirens sounded yesterday and when everyone in the office had been evacuated, only you werenât around and you werenât picking up the call. Mr. Parker, Mr. Murdock, and Boss Bucky were very worried.â In fact, Olâ Tom was even more worried, otherwise, he wouldnât be calling Leo in the early morning, but he was too embarrassed to say.
Leo was a bit stunned when he heard this. After all, he was a man capable of stopping with bare hands, he didnât expect Olâ Tom would be worried about this.
Frankly speaking, as an ordinary person, Olâ Tom worrying about this was normal. It seemed like Leo had graduated from the rank of the ordinary person as the matters he was worried about were different.
However, he felt warm when sensed othersâ kindness. So, he smiled, âDonât worry about my safety. I can fly, even the missile canât catch up with me.â
Olâ Tom chuckled on the other side of the call, evidently not believing Leo could fly faster than a missile.
Leo continued, âOlâ Tom, I have some matters for you. Are you at home or the office?â
âBoss, itâs just seven oâclock, of course, Iâm still at home!â Yawning, Olâ Tom added, âI just woke up and need to send Erik to school later.â
Olâ Tom had been trying to call Leo for the whole night, so he slept quite late and was still particularly sleepy. But Natasha had instructed him to send and fetch Erik, so he was forced to struggle out from the bed.
âThen Iâll go back and find you. Iâll bring some breakfast as well, letâs eat together. Make sure to wake Bucky and Erik up.â Leo simply bought some simple breakfast at a shop near the companyâs entrance and walked back home.
Right now, the two adults and child, including Bucky, had just woken up. He patiently waited for them to wash up before having breakfast with them.
âOlâ Tom, find a warehouse for me today. Rent it for six months first, Iâm in need of it. The location can be anywhere, all I need is spacious and quiet enough.â
Although Leo had the intention of building a second base, the construction wouldnât complete in a short time. To avoid wasting precious time, he was going to rent a warehouse for the moment.
Hearing this, Olâ Tom nodded and promised.
Then, he let Olâ Tom keep an eye on a large piece of land in New York Cityâs suburbs for building a brand new base.
Olâ Tom briefly inquired about Leoâs requirements and patted his chest in affirmation, signaling he would ensure the jobs were done.
By now, the lots had finished their breakfast. Olâ Tom went upstairs to help Erik carry his backpack before leaving with Erik first.
Hellâs Kitchen didnât have any decent school as the decent teachers werenât willing to work in this hellhole! Hence, Dr. Octaviusâs students didnât teach in Hellâs Kitchenâs neighborhoods.
As the school Dr. Octavius found for Erik was located in Queens, it was quite a distance. So, Erik needed to be picked up and sent to school by car.
Based on Erikâs age, Leo decided to let Erik enroll in junior high right away and Erik had no problems with it. Then, from what Peter said, the school Erik enrolled in was the school he used to go to. Judging from this, the quality of the school was quite reputable.
