"Get out," the Prince ordered without looking up from his papers as if he knew who was at the door.
Just from the of his tone alone you can tell who he was talking to. I'm the only person he would treat with this much aggressiveness.
"Your Highness," I called out to him and approached while ignoring his command. His gaze was still fixed on his papers.
He spoke in a disgruntled voice when he noticed me in front of him. "Why are you walking even closer? Don't even try pretending to be polite. You're disgusting and creepy."
"Okay? So… Raven?" As soon as I said that, he put a hand on his mouth like he was going to be sick.
If you were going to be uncomfortable with it, then why did you tell me to do that? I can't see him as anything but a child.
"…Sir Raven."
"…"
Pasting that honorific at the beginning made his expression relaxed a bit, but the color on his face was still off.
"…"
The Prince tried to look collected and focused on his paperwork, but I noticed that he was rattled when I opened the door. I wasn't sure if it was because of his anger, fear, or trauma. The Prince was usually a character who didn't show any signs of anxiety, but I realized that he was upset. It was a miniscule change in his facial expression that I wouldn't have been able to recognize if it weren't for the documents lying underneath him.
"I think that one is wrong."
"What?"
"Your spelling…"
I pointed to one of the documents he was sloppily writing on. It was fine in the middle, but the part he just wrote was misspelled. It seemed that the Prince was so greatly disturbed by me that he wasn't aware of it. I wasn't the kind of person to point out someone else's mistakes, but I knew he made one because of me. I was only doing this so he wouldn't bear a grudge towards me later.
His eyes followed my finger. Instead of consciously following it, he almost seemed dazed. He was staring at my finger tip when suddenly he bolted up as if he was on fire.
"What, what are you doing?!"
I responded in a playful tone, "I don't bite." I just wanted him to know that I wasn't going to infect him after all…
I was surprised that the Prince stood there shocked for a moment before he came back to reality. It almost looked like he was embarrassed.
"Did you just come here to harass me?"
"Nope."
"…" He narrowed his eyes at me as if he was trying to peer into my soul.
Sorry but it's pitch black here. I endured his staring but I ended up speaking first.
"I brought you your meal."
"What?"
I pulled out a sandwich behind me and the Prince was surprised I even had it. But soon his face hardened and he firmly said, "I thought I told you I wasn't going to eat anything you make?"
"If you don't eat, your health…" I wouldn't be doing this if I wasn't worried about him. I continued in concern, "Even if you don't eat for a few days, your health will start deteriorating. Although you're not starving, you should still get some food in you."
"…"
That's right. I wanted to solve this with words. I was tired of the Prince's stubbornness and I shook my head with a sad expression.
When he saw my grim face, he found it hilarious and replied, "Are you crazy? This was obvious from the start. You should've known this would happen if you tried to give me food. Unfortunately for you, I will never change my mind." He was convinced that I was disappointed that he rejected me as he continued talking.
Honestly his words just went in one ear and out the other.
I really didn't want to use this method. With a pitiful look on my face, I moaned, "…Then I will starve too."
"What?"
I don't want to do this, but if there are no other options, I have no choice. I can't shove the sandwich in his mouth, but I can force his hand by making myself suffer. The Prince hates me, but deep down he's a good person so I probably won't starve for too long.
"…Why?" For a long while the Prince stared at me. He had a curious expression on his face I guess he was wondering if I could really be that selfless.
"Your High… No, Raven if you don't eat at all, I can't easily swallow that down as your subordinate." I remembered the Prince disliked it when I called him Your Highness so I corrected myself.
Prince Raven had a complicated look after hearing what I said. He frowned for a long moment and then opened his mouth. "…Ridiculous. I don't care if you starve even a little bit. I'll pretend… to not. You always act as you please."
I was wondering why he has such a complicated look on his face, he almost seemed to be embarrassed.
Celebi, who was always faithful to her own desires, never considered the Prince's feelings or his position. Therefore, it was only natural that the Prince would be embarrassed by me.
"Well if you keep starving like that you're going to end up taking it out on everybody."
"What?" After hearing that, the Prince fell on his face. He looked up at me and growled with his whole body shaking. "I was stupid to even see your face. You're always like this. Whether you starve or die, do whatever you want! Get out now!"
The Prince staggered and pushed me out of the room. He furiously stared at me who was on the floor and slammed the door, disappearing inside.
It was just a joke.
I stood up and shook the dust off my coat. This is going to be a long battle.
The next day.
I have yet to give up. I only skipped two meals but I only felt a little hungry.
It was then that I received a summons from the Deputy Commander so I went to his office.
As soon as I entered, he handed me something. I stared at it blankly. The Deputy Commander said, "It's what you asked for the other day."
"Ah." I just remembered that I requested him to get me a uniform.
I went inside an empty room next door and changed. When I looked in the mirror, I saw a beautiful girl with violet eyes and silver hair and a cold impression who stood in a uniform. Unlike my youthful appearance, my cold eyes did not fit my age.
I looked at my reflection and nodded gracefully. Everyday I had to wear a medieval style dress and now I feel relieved to wear an outfit I was used to.
When I went back, the Deputy was awed and said, "There's something about you that gives off the same atmosphere as the Commander."
"…Really?" I turned to look at him with a smile. I was put on the same boat as the Prince. If he heard that he would have a field day. Besides, it was weird to hear that a noblewoman who can cook and the Crown Prince who was the Commander of Distin both have the same atmosphere.
Raven who wouldn't like to hear something like that, would probably hold him for disrespecting a member of the royal family.
I stared at this very person in wonder, he continued speaking as if to justify his explanation, "You guys are similar in age, especially the expressions around your eyes. You guys are usually friendly people, but are trustworthy and collected during work."
When I didn't say anything for a while, he spoke again with a frustrated expression. "Why does he always keep such a blank face? Kids his age are noisy and I've seen the kids in my town, they're always brimming with tension. Sometimes I wonder if he's alive."
I can't really say much even if I'm better than the old Celebi. It's impossible to expect teenage behaviors from me not just because my appearance doesn't look like one, but because I'm technically not a teenager. I thought the Deputy Commander's assessment of me was overdone.
No, it wasn't unreasonable to think so. But I feel that I have no emotions because the memories of my past life have always been following me.
I was standing alone in an empty field. Before the day ended, there was something I had to check. That is, to make sure that I do not have any special abilities.
Don't main characters who transfers into another dimension have at least one or two special abilities? I could be a genius at swordsmanship, magic, or possess qualities to be a priestess. I don't know if it was because I wasn't the main character, but I don't see any good points for this body.
First of all, after learning that magic can be used for practical purposes after building up the knowledge, I decided today to start practicing.
As for swordsmanship… I grabbed the Deputy Command when he was passing by to apply for a permit to carry a sword. I could barely keep up. A sword wielded in my hands became dull.
After observing me, I could see that his evaluation of me dropped because I couldn't get one technique right.
I tried to remember the spell to summon a spirit that I learned in my Black History™ to swallow me up whole but nothing happened.
Even the Deputy Commander looked at me with a sympathetic gaze like I was a pitiful child.
After going through this much shame in one day, I realized this body has no real power. Even my physical abilities were lower than average. It's not fair that I have no distinguishing abilities compared to my enemy the Prince.
I was so hungry now and I didn't have any strength left in my body. I laid down on the floor next to an empty fireplace.
