Shen Yi knew that it was impossible to obtain any contraceptive pills from Lu Yihan. And even if Lu Yihan agrees to provide him with some, as it was an extremely rare item to come by, Shen Yi may have already given birth to the baby when he gets his hands on the drugs.
“Forget that I asked. You should leave now!” Shen Yi turned his back and climbed into bed. He was extremely tired and didn’t want to pay any more attention to Lu Yihan.
However, Lu Yihan continued standing beside the bed. He complained, “How could you seduce me to feign ignorance and pretend that you don’t recognise me once you sleep with me? You’re really cruel.”
Shen Yi never expected that it was such an impossible task to get rid of Lu Yihan. “What exactly is it that you want? Do you want us to continue cheating? Or do you want to make love to me right now?” The youth raised his head and stared at Lu Yihan defiantly. His cheeks were scarlet red and his eyes teary from the fever.
Even though he was trying to put up an imposing front, but to Lu Yihan, he looked more like an abandoned kitten. He couldn’t help but feel his heart being tugged slightly.
“Forget it. I’ll leave, so just get some rest.”
“You’re finally making the right decision.” Shen Yi’s voice eased up when Lu Yihan agreed to leave.
On hearing Shen Yi’s words, Lu Yihan halted in his steps. He wasn’t sure whether to laugh or to cry. “Are you so desperate for me to go away?”
Like a hen pecking on the ground, Shen Yi nodded his head. By then, his head felt extremely heavy and the throbbing pain had become more severe. He indifferently waved his right hand as a signal that it was time for Lu Yihan to depart. Just go!!!
Lu Yihan forced a bitter smile and shook his head. “No wonder Lu Yunbo doesn’t love you. You’re such a spoiled brat.”
“Therefore, you should also never fall for me”, the youth answered arrogantly. He buried his head into the pillow to suppress the pulsating sensation in his head.
Lu Yihan smiled and said grimly, “Unfortunately, I’m already interested in you.” Shen Yi lifted his head from the pillow and glared at him.
Taking Shen Yi’s glare as his cue to leave, Lu Yihan walked towards the side of the room, climbed onto the windowpane, and leaped out of the window. Before Shen Yi could comprehend what just took place, he heard someone gasping “ah”.
This is the 3rd floor, did he just jump out from the window?
Shen Yi hurried to the windowpane. He stretched his neck out and peered through the opening Lu Yihan had just jumped out of. On the ground floor, Lu Yunbo’s housekeeper, Uncle Cao stood right beneath the window and he had his sight fixed on Shen Yi.
And of all places, Lu Yihan landed right beside the housekeeper.
Shen Yi quickly retracted his head and his mind was flooded with thoughts. He saw! He knows of me and Lu Yihan! He knows of the adultery, what will happen next?
Is he aware that Lu Yihan is actually Lu Yunbo?
Would he inform Lu Yunbo of what happened? Does it look like I have cheated on Lu Yunbo with Lu Yihan? Would he think that I just committed adultery with another man? What should I do?!!
When he couldn’t find an answer to his questions, Shen Yi turned off the bedside lights and covered his head with the quilt.
Shen Yi laid on his bed, defeated by the pain he was enduring. He couldn’t distinguish whether the dizziness and constant throbbing pain in his head, was caused by the fever or from him overthinking about his current situation. He is left with only one thought in mind, ‘ I don’t want to think about it anymore. The worst thing that could possibly happen to me is dying. At least I don’t feel any more pain!’
That night, he was convinced that life is not worth living and that death may not be such a bad thing after all.
But when Shen Yi woke up, he was greeted with a sunny morning. The weather was neither too hot nor was it too cold. It was early September, and the days have just begun to get cooler. The sound of birds chirping and the smell of fragrant flowers blooming beneath his room promised a beautiful day.
Also, Shen Yi’s fever had subsided, and his lower half is no longer in pain. The medicine given by Lu Yihan was remarkably effective. As he was no longer in pain and was feeling better compared to yesterday, his mind became clearer. Shen Yi stood upright on his bed and thought to himself, ‘Life has so much to offer. I want to live! Who said anything about dying!’
As he woke up that morning, he completely forgot the morbid thoughts that he had the night before. Like a man returning from the land of the dead, Shen Yi was adamant about staying alive.

Over the next few days, Shen Yi remained in the courtyard to recuperate from his injuries. Apart from resting, Shen Yi remained at home to keep an eye on the housekeeper’s movements as he may be a witness to that night’s incident. However, Uncle Cao acted as if he never saw Lu Yihan jumping out from Shen Yi’s windows.
However, Shen Yi still feels guilty every time he encounters Uncle Cao. Although he always wanted to ask, ‘ Do you know something? ”, but Shen Yi was never able to utter those words.
In those few days, Lu Yunbo did not return to the residence and Shen Yi had full control over all the servants in the manor. Among them were chefs that were previously employed to cook in the residence.
Although Lu Yunbo’s residence employed a number of chefs, he rarely returned home to eat. Therefore, these chefs were left to idle. Over time, they grew restless and felt that they were denied the opportunity to flaunt their craft.
Now that Shen Yi is eating all his meals at home, the chef didn’t waste a second to show off their skills and fought to cook his meals. Additionally, the current Shen Yi appeared in the chefs’ eyes to be vastly different compared to the old him. Unlike before, the current Shen Yi is generous with his praises, so long as he ate the food, he would shower the chef who cooked it with compliments.
These chefs were ecstatic that they finally found a place and a person who can fully appreciate their work. Therefore, they would eagerly surround Shen Yi during meals in hopes that he eats their dish and compliment them.
Therefore, in every meal, Shen Yi had over a thousand types of dishes to select from. Although the conditions in Shen Yi’s family home is considered good but compared to Lu Yunbo’s residence, it pales in comparison.
Moreover, Shen Yi didn’t mind the attention given by the chef. These chefs and their eagerness to please him was somewhat adorable to Shen Yi. Hence, ever since Shen Yi started recuperating in the residence, there was always a lively atmosphere in the dining room during Shen Yi’s meal times.
That day, Shen Yi ordered ten dishes for lunch. The dishes crowded half a table, together with the various side dishes and sauces. Shen Yi wasn’t the least embarrassed about the amount of food he is eating. He quietly enjoyed his meal while seated alone on the dining table.
Since I don’t know how much longer I have to live, it’s better to enjoy it when I can.
However, the excitement in the dining hall suddenly died down. Shen Yi was still chewing on a piece of fish when he realised that there was something amiss.
Why did the room suddenly become so quiet? Why is there a sudden drop in temperature?
He raised his head and his eyes met a pair of dark black eyes. The owner had similarly black hair which contrasted with his sky-blue military uniform. Wearing a pair of combat boots, the man stood calmly by the door, staring silently at Shen Yi. Behind him were several other men drabbed in similar military uniforms.
