The Brawl in Myeongdong
Park Dong-su was waiting in the car for Ma Seok-dae.
A moment later, Ma Seok-dae and his subordinates arrived. Recognizing Ma Seok-dae's vehicle, Park Dong-su got out of the car.
Ma Seok-dae, who had also gotten out of his car, glanced at Park Dong-su and his men, then gave a cold smile.
"Mr. Park. You're well-prepared."
"Of course. It's the first time I'm working with you, Section Chief Ma. I can't afford to embarrass myself in front of Woo-hyuk."
Ma Seok-dae nodded slightly and continued.
"We'll handle the building entry. Just block anyone from entering from the outside. If you feel overwhelmed, abandon the perimeter and come inside."
Park Dong-su, who had been nodding, looked at Ma Seok-dae's subordinates and said,
"Aren't there too few of you?"
Ma Seok-dae laughed at Park Dong-su's comment.
"These are the ones who serve me closely. If they can't handle this, they should die."
"Alright, we'll block the perimeter so not even an ant can get through. You handle the inside."
They confirmed their roles and talked a bit more before getting back into their respective cars.
Ma Seok-dae's team moved first, followed by Park Dong-su and his men in separate cars.
They eventually arrived near Shin Sung-il's office. The cars carrying Ma Seok-dae and Park Dong-su's group split up.
Park Dong-su's car dispersed around the area, while Ma Seok-dae and his subordinates got out near the office.
"What the—!"
A subordinate of Shin Sung-il, standing in front of the building, shouted.
But his words were cut short as a man behind Ma Seok-dae lunged forward, silently taking out the guard.
Ma Seok-dae walked past him and entered the building.
Inside, Park Dong-su blocked the building entrance and told his subordinates,
"Don't let even an ant through. If there's a fight, don't pull out your knives. Got it?"
"Yes!"
Park Dong-su looked at Lee Sang-geun beside him and said with a smile,
"Can you fight without your knife? If it gets dangerous, just back off."
"Understood, Mr. Park."
Park Dong-su looked up at the building entrance and muttered,
"I can see Section Chief Ma's skills now."
Meanwhile, Ma Seok-dae and his subordinates quickly ascended the stairs and arrived at Shin Sung-il's office.
A man nodded at Ma Seok-dae's gaze and opened the door.
The subordinates inside Shin Sung-il's office stood up abruptly when they saw Ma Seok-dae and his men enter.
"What the—! Who are these guys?"
The man who spoke frowned when he saw Ma Seok-dae entering last.
"Isn't that Section Chief Ma?"
Ma Seok-dae didn't answer but asked,
"Where's Mr. Shin?"
"What's going on here?"
"Is he inside?"
"No, Section Chief Ma!"
Ma Seok-dae gave up on the conversation and instructed his subordinates,
"Seok-woo and Myeong-geun, follow me. The rest, take care of this."
Following Ma Seok-dae's order, all but two of his men rushed at Shin Sung-il's subordinates.
As the office turned into chaos, Ma Seok-dae opened the door to Mr. Shin's office.
Inside, Shin Sung-il and Moon Tae-beom had already stood up, looking at the door in alarm.
"What's going on here!"
Shin Sung-il shouted, his face contorted.
But Ma Seok-dae only had a fierce smile on his face.
"The young master wants you brought to him."
"The young master? For what? Why can't he just call us... What's happening here!"
Ma Seok-dae didn't answer. He just gave orders to the two men beside him.
"Subdue them, but don't kill."
"Got it, boss."
Moon Tae-beom, watching the situation, cursed and pulled out a switchblade.
"Hey, hey. You'll get hurt. Put it away."
One of Ma Seok-dae's subordinates, approaching them, said playfully.
"Did they notice us, Mr. Shin? Are you going to let yourself be caught like this?"
Moon Tae-beom, introduced as a junior, was speaking informally to Shin Sung-il.
Ma Seok-dae watched them calmly without showing any surprise.
"Damn it."
Shin Sung-il also raised his hands, getting into a fighting stance.
Ma Seok-dae's subordinates each rushed at one of them, and the fight began.
Moon Tae-beom swung his knife at the approaching subordinate.
The man stumbled back but quickly recovered and charged at him, undeterred by the knife.
Despite being cut a few times and bleeding, the man ignored the pain and closed the distance. A swift punch landed on Moon Tae-beom's eye.
Thud!
Moon Tae-beom staggered but didn't drop his knife, swinging it wildly.
The man dodged slightly, but his shirt was cut, leaving a thin wound. Blood quickly soaked his white shirt.
"Whoa, almost got killed there!"
"Seok-woo, stop playing around and finish it."
"Alright, boss~ It's been a while since I had some fun. Got it."
Seok-woo, dodging Moon Tae-beom's knife, answered Ma Seok-dae casually, then lunged forward and grabbed the arm holding the knife.
In an instant, Moon Tae-beom was thrown onto a table, losing his knife in the process.
The man approached him mockingly.
"Put it away. You'll get hurt."
On Shin Sung-il's side, a fierce struggle was unfolding.
Shin Sung-il, who had been trying to grab the man, was dodged and hit with a punch.
The attack was sharp, but Shin Sung-il's toughness was not to be underestimated.
Finally, Shin Sung-il managed to grab his opponent and, with a cold smile, slammed him to the ground.
"Ugh!"
Ma Seok-dae's gaze shifted from Moon Tae-beom to Shin Sung-il.
"What are you doing, Myeong-geun?"
"Sorry."
At Ma Seok-dae's words, Myeong-geun, breathing heavily from the shock, immediately stood up.
He took a boxing stance and approached Shin Sung-il.
Thud!
He struck Shin Sung-il's side, dodging the attempt to grab him.
Shin Sung-il, bent over from the impact, was hit in the jaw. While staggering, he was hit with several more punches.
Myeong-geun quickly rushed at the retreating Shin Sung-il.
Crack!
His knee hit Shin Sung-il's face, and the sound of his nose breaking was heard.
Even the tough Shin Sung-il finally collapsed.
Myeong-geun, still breathing heavily from the shock, watched the fallen Shin Sung-il.
At the same time.
Outside, Park Dong-su, who was guarding the perimeter, saw several vans approaching.
Park Dong-su smiled wryly.
"Oh... I see, so that's why it was so easy. Everyone, get ready."
At Park Dong-su's words, his subordinates picked up the steel pipes and baseball bats nearby.
Park Dong-su said to Lee Sang-geun beside him,
"Block the entrance. Don't let anyone through, and use your knives if it gets dangerous. Protect Sang-geun well."
"Yes, sir."
Soon, the vans stopped abruptly, and burly men poured out.
Park Dong-su's subordinates immediately rushed at them.
A gang fight broke out in the middle of Myeongdong.
Park Dong-su noticed a man and raised an eyebrow.
"What are you doing here?"
"It's been a while, Mr. Dong-su."
A man with a shallow scar on his cheek bowed with a sardonic smile.
Park Dong-su clicked his tongue.
"Damn. Did Mr. Baek-ho send you?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"This guy, did you get a cast on your neck? Are you desperate to fight?"
"Isn't it too late to argue about lineage now?"
Park Dong-su frowned, and the man smiled calmly.
"Don't make things complicated. Just step aside. We only need Mr. Shin Sung-il and Mr. Moon Tae-beom."
"Shut up. I won't let anyone into that building."
"Hmm... You started this, Mr. Dong-su?"
The man suddenly lunged at Park Dong-su.
Caught off guard, Park Dong-su was a bit slow in blocking the punch.
Though the distance reduced the impact, the punch hit his nose, and he stepped back, wiping his nose with the back of his hand. Blood soaked his hand.
"You bastard!"
Park Dong-su cursed and lunged at him.
The fight ended sooner than expected.
Park Dong-su won, but even he couldn't come out unscathed.
'This isn't good.'
The numbers were too overwhelming.
Almost surrounded by the man's subordinates, Park Dong-su wiped the blood from his face and stepped back.
"Damn, this is a mess."
Park Dong-su and his subordinates, pushed back to the building entrance, glared at the front.
The man, supported by his subordinates, stopped in front of them.
"The police won't come. Step aside, Mr. Dong-su."
"Shut up and get in."
The man, frowning, shouted,
"Secure the entrance!"
"Yes, sir!"
At that moment, Ma Seok-dae's subordinates, who had assessed the situation inside the building, rushed out.
Though only a few joined, the balance of power shifted dramatically in Park Dong-su's favor.
Finally, Park Dong-su and Ma Seok-dae's subordinates overpowered everyone and threw them in front of the building.
Ma Seok-dae, who had brought down Shin Sung-il and Moon Tae-beom, arrived then.
Seeing their condition, Ma Seok-dae frowned.
"Who are these guys?"
"Mr. Park said to bring this one. He seems to be the boss of the gang that attacked us."
Park Dong-su pointed at the man kneeling and glaring at him.
Ma Seok-dae kicked him in the face. His subordinates dragged the fallen man into the car.
Surveying the chaotic scene, Ma Seok-dae sighed.
"This isn't something that can be easily covered up. We need to prepare someone to take the fall."
"Damn... Tell Woo-hyuk to take care of the cleanup."
Ma Seok-dae nodded and left. The cars carrying the men drove away from the scene.
Alone, Park Dong-su sighed and looked at his subordinates.
"What are you doing? Take the injured to the hospital. Hurry up, or what?"
* * *
"Where did you bring this guy from?"
"Mr. Park said to bring him. He seems to be the boss of the gang that attacked us."
I smiled coldly.
Section Chief Ma brought a chair and placed it. As I sat down, the man on the floor lifted his head.
"Kids from Gangnam came to Myeongdong? I don't know what they're thinking, but you're giving me a reason."
"What are you talking about?"
"Hey, Oh Gil-seok. It's too late to deny it. Since you came to Myeongdong first, we can interpret it as a declaration of war."
"..."
He was the right-hand man of Baek-ho, the boss of the organization currently controlling Gangnam.
This guy wouldn't move without Baek-ho's orders.
"Did Baek-ho send you? What's so special about Mr. Shin?"
"Shut up! How dare you call our big boss by his name!"
I nodded at Oh Gil-seok, who was cursing.
"Real gangsters always react the same way. They're all equally stupid. Let's rough him up a bit. Don't kill him. We need him to pressure Baek Jeong-gi."
Section Chief Ma grabbed Oh Gil-seok by the back of his neck.
"Hey, you bastard! How dare you mention our big boss's name?"
"Why not call me Baek Jeong?"
Section Chief Ma kicked him in the face, and Oh Gil-seok rolled on the floor.
His subordinates, receiving Section Chief Ma's gaze, dragged him to a corner.
I was already tired of the familiar scene.
"Let's start with Shin Sung-il."
Section Chief Ma dragged Shin Sung-il, who was lying on his side, in front of me.
"Mr. Shin, when did it start?"
Section Chief Ma tore off the tape from his mouth.
"Young master, why are you doing this?"
"Damn..."
A sigh of frustration escaped me.
"Are you going to say that after being caught? Let's stop pretending. Moon Tae-beom and Oh Gil-seok. Two people, that's it. Even without evidence, you're dead."
"Damn..."
Shin Sung-il quietly cursed and glared at me.
"You were the problem. Mr. Cheon was just a puppet. You suddenly appeared and ruined everything."
"You tried to plant Moon Tae-beom to kill me?"
"I don't know."
"You said your grandfather supported you from a young age. When did it start?"
"..."
I got frustrated again.
"Don't be silent. It'll be less painful and quicker. When did you receive your orders?"
"After I quit wrestling and went to see the chairman, I was already serving someone else. It wasn't my choice. My grandfather's father served his ancestors..."
He seemed loyal to my grandfather.
While other bosses acted like bats, switching sides to the more advantageous one, Shin Sung-il pretended to be loyal only to my grandfather.
If I hadn't recognized Moon Tae-beom and acted preemptively, he might have stabbed me someday.
I felt a chill.
"Damn, so you recognized Moon Tae-beom back then? How did you know?"
"I don't know. Tell me everything you know, and I'll make it quick."
"I don't know. I'm just like you."
It was as I expected, but the cost outweighed the benefit. I clicked my tongue and looked at Section Chief Ma.
"You can kill him. Get everything out of him."
"Yes, boss."
Section Chief Ma's subordinates dragged Shin Sung-il away.
Now it was Moon Tae-beom's turn.
Moon Tae-beom, dragged in by his subordinates, struggled and glared at me.
His energy was impressive, but also foolish.
Section Chief Ma removed the tape from his mouth, and Moon Tae-beom started cursing in Japanese.
"Speak Korean. We're in Korea."
