Britney couldn't believe what was happening right before her eyes.
This is a dream. Yes, this is probably a dream. In reality, Count Green wouldn't propose to that bitch! Besides...that stupid little girl can't be so confident as to accept the marriage proposal.
Despite Keivrand's sudden proposal, Iris wasn't flustered.
She was arrogantly staring down at him as if she knew this would happen.
"You can raise your head, Count."
"Until Miss Iris accepts my proposal, this head will be here."
"Will you be here forever if I don't accept it?"
"I'll be in this position."
A light smile formed around Iris' lips.
What the hell is that? In front of others? What's wrong with her?
Britney was fuming inside.
Originally, it should have been her in Iris' position.
So why was it Iris who was now exchanging pleasantries with Keivrand?
"Count Green is saying this..."
Iris' violet eyes slowly move towards Reuben.
"What should I do, father?"
Britney also turned her head and looked at him.
She had no doubt that he would angrily kick Iris out.
"Well, well. Hmm...Count Green likes you very much, so why don't you accept it?"
Britney leapt to her feet.
Reuben grabbed her by the wrist and gave her a stern look.
"You should leave, Britney."
The man she wanted to have, and the one that everyone coveted, to say that she didn't want Iris to have him?
Or say that she wanted to marry him?
Or say that Alfred, a greasy old man, was befitting of Iris?
With an ounce of reason left, she knew she couldn't behave disgracefully in front of Keivrand.
Britney looked at him in disbelief, but he avoided her gaze.
She bit her lower lip hard.
There was nothing she could do if she stayed here.
So she decided to quickly leave the room. However, as she passed Keivrand,
"You'll regret it, Count Green."
"Well. I don't think so."
After Britney left, Reuben spoke.
"Count Green. I'll allow you to marry Iris, so please come and sit down."
"I haven't heard from Miss Iris yet."
"Iris, what are you doing, not answering quickly?"
"Yes, father. Count Green, I accept your proposal."
Only then did Keivrand straighten his back.
"Iris, I have something to discuss with the Count, so you can go out."
"No, Duke. I want to be with Miss Iris."
"We're a couple who'll be together in the future, so we'll be together from now on."
Was the man in front of him really Count Keivrand Green?
Keivrand Green, who he knew, wasn't a hospitable person towards women.
"Will you stay with me, Miss Iris?"
At Keivrand's request, Iris nodded slightly.
As he raised his arm towards her, she gently placed her hand on his arm.
The two came to the sofa and sat side by side as if they had been in a long relationship.
"Now let's talk about the gold mine, Duke."
Reuben, whose eyes were filled with questions as he looked at Keivrand, quickly changed his demeanor when he had mentioned the gold mine.
Putting aside Keivrand's status, if he could get that, then nothing else mattered.
"If you sign this contract, the gold mine will belong to Duke Whittle."
Keivrand said as he opened the document.
"And Miss Iris here will be with me."
Reuben rushed to pull the document with a quill, but Keivrand slipped it back.
"I'll be heading back to my estate with Miss Iris today."
"But we have to prepare for the wedding. I have a lot of things to teach Iris..."
"Miss Iris is more beautiful and kinder than I had thought, so I'm afraid the Duke will suddenly change his mind and refuse to give his daughter."
"No, that's never going to happen. I'm not someone who goes back on their word, Count."
"And, holding hands like this..."
Keivrand gently laid his hand on Iris' hand as their arms intertwined.
"I don't want to let go. I'll bring her with me, Duke."
Originally, he was supposed to send Iris away to Alfred when he came today.
In his heart he still wanted Britney to become Count Green's wife.
No, it doesn't matter if he takes Iris away. That child is obedient anyway, and Count Green has fallen head over heels for her, so I'll be able to use him well.
"Yes, then let's do that."
Alfred was attacked by suspicious masked men on his way to meet the flower of Duke Whittle, Iris.
The cowardly Alfred had paid a lot of money to hire strong mercenaries.
He had hired the ten best mercenaries from the mercenary guild, but they had all failed to beat three masked men.
Alfred, who had already been stuck in the carriage for hours, glanced out through the small window of his carriage.
There were two masked men, but now that he looked again there was another.
As Alfred listened, he overheard their conversation.
When one of the masked men walked up to the carriage, Alfred quickly fell against the seat and pretended to faint.
The masked man roughly opened the carriage door and poked Alfred's thigh with a sword.
Alfred screamed, having realized he had been stabbed in the leg.
Another masked man approached after hearing the commotion.
"I stabbed him a little bit and he's freaking out. A little coward."
"Okay, okay. Hey, we're leaving, so be nice from now on. Don't reveal too much about this."
Long after the masked men had left while giggling, Alfred was still shivering in the carriage.
Arriving at Duke Whittle's estate as if he was barely conscious, he heard the startling news that Iris had already become the wife of another man.
As soon as Iris got on the carriage, she lowered her hand that was around Keivrand's arm.
He had done a lot better than she had expected.
She had enjoyed the crumpled face of Britney when he had proposed.
Britney, who was the main character everywhere thanks to her doll-like face, must have felt like a side character for the first time today.
It's just the beginning, Britney Whittle.
In her last life, the dukedom of Duke Whittle had recovered thanks to the Lavent's gold mine they had received from exchanging her.
While she was unable to die and continued her miserable life, Britney held everything in her hands and tormented Iris until her death.
In this life she won't be able to hold a single thing in her hands.
Keivrand was silent as they headed for the Green's estate.
Iris also had a lot to think about, so she was grateful for the heavy silence in the carriage.
Coming to her senses from hearing Keivrand's voice, she found herself standing in the middle of his room.
Because of the sunlight coming through the back window, he looked like a giant beast.
"All right, Irie. You can call me Kei."
"From today on, you'll sleep with me in this room. In the same bed."
Keivrand's hand pointed to a big bed.
Keivrand quickly approached Iris.
As expected, there was a scent of the forest.
"So you know what it means to share the same bed. Or, you don't know because you grew up as the innocent flower of Duke Whittle?"
What a man and a woman did when they slept together, Iris knew too well.
Some women valued such an act very much, but she didn't.
In her last life, and in this life, it made no difference to her.
Keivrand's palm touched Iris' neck. Feeling the heat of his hand, she flinched unknowingly.
"It's not my preference to teach stupid women every little thing."
Keivrand lowered his head.
His breath grazed Iris' ear and cheek.
"The sun hasn't even set yet..."
"You know, I'm a beastman."
"Oh, that's right, you're a beastman..."
Iris politely but firmly pushed Keivrand's face away from her neck.
In response to the outright rejection, he squinted his eyes as if he was having fun.
"I won't regret anything in this life."
"Is that so? If my wife, who I had exchanged for a gold mine, wants to see it, then I'll have to show it. Back up over there."
Iris stepped back and headed to a corner. Her heart swelled with anticipation for the scene ahead.
Keivrand's shadow against the sun began to grow. His back bent, and his face changed its shape.
She heard the ripping of clothes.
After a short period of time, a giant black wolf sat still where Keivrand was.
It was a wolf as tall as her even though it was sitting.
The wolf sat like a well-trained dog and didn't move, as if it was worried that she would be startled.
As she waded through the darkness of death, she had witnessed the dying breath of this wolf.
The betrayed beast, struggling desperately until the end, had died horribly.
She slowly approached the wolf.
Surprisingly, there was a patch of silver fur on the wolf's eyebrows that she hadn't known before.
She carefully reached for the wolf's snout.
The wolf slowly rubbed his snout against her palm.
Keivrand's voice was lower and thicker than when he was in human form.
There was a growl of a beast mixed in.
"Cute. Especially these round eyebrows."
Keivrand wrinkled his nose as his long, sharp canine teeth were revealed.
Instead of being angry, he seemed to be smiling.
"There's nothing to be afraid of."
Iris had already died once.
Keivrand licked her ear, then suddenly returned to his human form.
She widened her eyes at the appearance of him transforming back.
Looking down at the frozen Iris, Keivrand grinned.
"I told you, you'll regret it."
Iris should have expected it when she had heard Keivrand's clothes rip.
Just because he had returned to human form didn't mean his ripped clothes would be restored.
