Chapter 7: The saved boat gives their thanks
Now then, I thought I’d just save the ship and leave right after, but I was called out to stop via magic.
There’s no helping it, so for now Uni and I pulled alongside them and moved over to their ship.
The ship seemed to have a considerably large number of sailors, yet their representative was a woman a little younger than me and a knight with an aura of a great man.
”Truly, thank you very much. You saved us.”
”Ahaha, oh my, you seriously saved us.”
”Don’t worry about it. I just happened to be passing by.”
”Unyu!”
I’m trying my best not to get on their nerves. Only the plesiosaurus’ meat is edible, so I was thinking of asking if I could take some.
”No, no. Without your help, we would have been completely destroyed! But still, it really is a terrific ship, eh~! To take out such a big guy so easily. And also, that strange arm that sprung out.”
The man dressed as a knight looked at the crane lifting the plesiosaurus and gave a hearty laugh, while giving the ship I had been on an incredulous look.
That’s not an arm, though. And is it really such a big deal? It feels strange to be surprised at it, since construction boats are often used in the royal capital for construction work at sea.
”In addition, you also have such a cute companion with you.”
The woman who was called a princess smiles sweetly at Uni.
”Right, this is the brownie Uni.”
”Really! Brownies are said to be rare fairies! This is the first time I’ve seen one!”
The knight stared in amazement. Now that you mention it, my master said it was unusual for a brownie to take a liking to someone.
Back when we were in the kingdom, we became friends after I saved him from a magic beast in the forest. After that, he voluntarily signed a familiar contract with me.
”Fufu, that’s cute. But I must say, this ship is amazing. It moves despite not having sails.”
”Because it’s a magic ship. Well, just think of it as being powered by magic.”
”Oh, powered by magic, is it.”
”Yeah, and so I’m actually in a bit of a rush.” [TL: I don’t know why this would make him rush. Maybe he’s implying it constantly eats magic power?]
”Then, I’m sorry to have kept you. Then, is there something you would like as thanks?”
”No, I don’t really want anything in particular. Would it be fine if I got a share of this plesiosaurus’ meat?”
”A share is definitely a no!”
The woman exclaimed with her eyes wide open. Eh? It’s no good? Hm, though I did more or less defeat it, in the end, they were the ones being attacked, so do they want to say they have ownership of the remains?
”We’ll give you everything!”
But, I got an unexpected response.
”Eh? All of it?”
”Hahaha! Of course. You defeated it, so ownership goes to you.”
The knight replied with a laugh. Apparently they’re not going to keep it all for themselves, but rather recognise it as all being mine.
”I appreciate that, but receiving just the edible meat is enough for me.”
”Hm, it’s true that this size isn’t something you could put on one ship.”
The knight nods in agreement on his own, though that’s not really what I meant. All things made using the transforming machine share a dimensional warehouse. Warehouses built by meddling with dimensions have enormous capacities. A hundred, a thousand, even ten thousand things on the level of the plesiosaurus can be lowered in via the crane.
However, although the materials from a plesiosaurus can be used for equipment, it is of little use to an architect. That’s why I’m fine with just the meat.
”In that case, other than the parts you need, how does it sound if we buy the rest from you? Of course, we will include payment for saving us.”
Apparently they’re not convinced that I only want to take the necessary parts.
”You don’t really need to do that.”
”That won’t do! If you don’t receive anything for saving us, it’ll send a bad example for the committee!”
”Hm? Committee?”
”Hahaha, as a matter of fact, we’re from the Grand Festival of Sorcery’s management committee. If we had been sunk by the sea dragon here, it would have been terrible.”
Aah~, now that you mention it, they’re carrying an emblem with five magic circles.
That is indeed the mark of the committee that manages the Grand Festival of Sorcery.
”But, what were talking about when you shouted out “princess”?”
”Oh, I did in fact call out “princess”
 you could hear that?”
”This ship has a function to pick up sound.”
”This is the first time I’ve heard of such a capability
”
Is that so? Hm, I’ve lived in a world that had the architectural techniques my master taught me. I’m unfamiliar with the situation outside. From my point of view, it’s no wonder the management committee is travelling in these old-style ships.
”To answer your question, I am a committee member, but at the same time, I’m in a position of princess in the Hau Zing Kingdom, and this here is Heim, who was my escort knight from the start.” [TL: “It was at this point that he realised
 the author was trolling him all along” XD. So apparently, all the names are puns of some sort? The pun here is that the country is called the “housing kingdom”. All pun explanations to be listed at the end in a TL note.]
”Ahaha, nice to meet you.”
So that’s how it is. If I remember correctly, I did hear that the committee was made up of people of all walks of life.
”In any case, please let me thank you.”
She asked me once again. We’ll get nowhere if I keep refusing this. Can’t be helped, since she says she wants to give it to me, I’ll accept it.
”Alright. In that case, please do.”
After that, I loaded the meat I needed on the boat, while I received the rest in the form of money.
”Which country’s currency would you like it to be in?”
”Uhm
 no, I’m just someone who carefreely travels around on a ship. I don’t live in any particular country.”
In truth I’m originally from the Carcel Kingdom, but I’ve been exiled. I said it in a misleading way to avoid unnecessary trouble.
”Is that so. Then Free Currency should be fine.”
Free Currency is money which isn’t tied to a country. It’s primarily treated as a means of asset management and can’t be used as currency by itself, but it’s still an asset if you have it.
”10,000 gold coins in Free Currency. Here’s the payment.”
”That much?”
Free Currency doesn’t carry units like Corz. However, 10 thousand gold coins of this size might amount to about a billion Corz in my original country.
”This much is natural. Because you saved the lives of all the seamen.”
”Well, if that’s the case then I’ll gratefully take it.”
”Hahaha, though from the direction you came, I thought you came from the Carcel Kingdom.”
”
 no, that’s just by chance.”
”You weren’t stopping over or something at Carcel Kingdom?”
”No. But is there something going on there?”
I couldn’t help but think that he was strangely obsessed with the Carcel Kingdom, so I asked him about it.
”It’s our destination. As they’re the host country for next year’s Grand Festival of Sorcery, we’re on our way to inspect the current situation and discuss the way going forward.”
The knight Heim replied. Ah, I see
 that country certainly is the host country. If I think about it, the management committee did come several times for inspection.
”This time will be my first time, but according to those who have gone before, the Carcel Kingdom is a very developed country and the architectural techniques are excellent. I’m looking forward to it now.”
”That’s good.”
”Unyu~
”
Uni looked at me as though to ask if it really would be okay. I don’t know how I feel either. The magical architectural techniques that’ve been handed down since long ago were praised, so I don’t feel bad, but since I’ve been exiled, it’s uncertain as to whether they will be able to preserve those techniques.
Or maybe I should say that I think it’s probably impossible. Nevertheless, it’ll take this ship 3 days to arrive at the country. Well, that being the case, I doubt things have gotten crazy yet.
”Then we’ll be on our way soon.”
”Ah, come to think of it, I didn’t get your name yet.”
”I don’t really have a name to give. Bye then!”
”Ah
”
And then Uni and I jumped to our ship and left that place.
I felt like it would’ve been troublesome if I gave them my name and the Carcel Kingdom came to learn of it. Now then, this was a strange detour, but let’s head for the island
