Although Wen Mingyu had long wanted to see Mu Zhan’s dragon’s form and had imagined it in his mind, the real thing still far exceeded his expectations.
He initially thought it to be slightly larger than a human person, but what emerged before him was a gigantic body that appeared to be able to cover the sun and the sky; the dragon’s head was even taller than the height of an adult man, and the body was conservatively estimated to be over a hundred meters in length.
Covered in golden dragon scales, on top of his head were two huge fork-like horns, and on his back was a pair of wings. The feathered wings refracted a gorgeous luster in the sunlight.
This appearance bore a striking resemblance to theYinglongfrom myths and legends.
If there were wings, it was a true dragon.
The ancients had a saying that a winged dragon was a true dragon.
But at this time, Wen Mingyu had no way to think that much because when Mu Zhan transformed into a dragon and hung in mid-air, his mind went blank from the shock. All he could do was open his eyes wide and stare incredulously at the unbelievable scene before him.
He actually did see a dragon.
With his sharp claws reaching the ground, the golden dragon slowly descended from his hovering position and landed in front of Wen Mingyu.
The golden vertical pupils stared at him intently.
Being closer, one could better experience that terrible oppressive force and awe, like a towering wave that could quickly swallow people whole.
Frozen in place, Wen Mingyu forgot to breathe as if his body was beyond his control—until the golden dragon in front of him leaned over slightly, lowered his head, and gave Wen Mingyu a gentle prod in the shoulder.
This action was extremely gentle and very careful, like a tiger sniffing roses, afraid of accidentally hurting it.
Wen Mingyu returned to his senses, his body relaxing as he looked at the golden dragon before him.
Because of their close proximity, he could clearly see the outline of each golden-colored scale, the slightly curved arcs, and the pair of profoundly deep vertical pupils, as if the whole dazzling galaxy were concealed within.
Wen Mingyu’s figure was even sharply reflected by the two pupils, as if they had locked the young man into their eyes.
When Mingyu looked up at him, and in his eyes, there was only this majestic dragon.
Wen Mingyu stepped forward and, as if bewitched, reached out and gently hugged the golden dragon’s head. He lowered his head and bumped his forehead against his, lightly kissing him.
In an instant, the golden dragon seemed to be startled by something, shaking strongly. Its scales flared up all over its body like an animal bristling its fur.
Wen Mingyu was surprised and amused by his reaction. He grinned broadly as he said, “So cute.”
The golden dragon’s face became subtle in a second, swimmingly unable to comprehend how he could be associated with the wordcute.
The golden dragon froze, appearing strangely quiet.
Wen Mingyu suddenly realized that he was still holding the other party’s head. It would be impossible to answer, so he hurriedly let go, then waited expectantly for a reply.
The golden dragon’s expression was somewhat unnatural. After a few seconds, he shook his head.
Wen Mingyu let out an oh and asked again, “Then summon wind and call for rain?”
The golden dragon shook his head once more.
Wen Mingyu continued, “What about getting bigger or smaller?”
Even still, the golden dragon shook his head, although each movement was slower than the last, as though this was an extremely tough action for him. After three times in a row, his head slightly lowered. It was obviously still that same expressionless face; the dragon scales were even glinting with a metallic cold light, making it look scary and intimidating…
It should have been like this, but Wen Mingyu actually felt that he saw a wilting sense of recognition, like a big dog who had a lost look because it did not receive praise and affirmation from its owner.
Wen Mingyu was so amused by his own thoughts that he wanted to laugh. He couldn’t help but caress the pitiful giant dragon.
“You’re so cute; it doesn’t matter if you can’t do those things.”
He was not just casually coaxing Mu Zhan, Wen Mingyu really thought so. In his eyes, the formidable and amazing dragon before him was like some unmatched cute thing, and it was the kind he found irreplaceably endearing.
In fact, when Wen Mingyu had imagined Mu Zhan’s dragon form earlier, he had wondered curiously what the aspect of his ability was. The other forms of Alpha and Omega were generally real animals that existed in nature, and fanciful species like Mu Zhan were incredibly rare. And so, he couldn’t help but have unrealistic expectations bubbling up, wondering if it would be as magical as those dragons in the myth.
But on second thought, the Alphas’ advantage in the future interstellar was actually attributed to their mental power, being able to manipulate mechs with ease. Although they have morphological traits of carnivorous animals, they were not really a real tiger or lion.
If Mu Zhan could truly summon the wind and call rain in his form, then he would be too transcendent in this era.
He couldn’t hardly be regarded as an ordinary Alpha human either, but almost a god.
Not possessing those supernatural abilities was normal.
Wen Mingyu was just too excited to see the dragon form and uncontrollably asked for a moment.
After he complimented the golden dragon on his cuteness once more, the golden dragon stiffened, but he soon relaxed again. He looked at him with an expression of helplessness and indulgence.
A huge dragon with a slender, nimble body, a long tail that dangled in midair and lightly swayed, and sharp claws that stepped on the ground.
And yet this seemingly awe inspiring huge dragon, in front of a human, bowed his head and listened to his words.
Curious, Wen Mingyu asked, “Can I touch your wings?”
The golden dragon nodded his head and gathered the wings on his back, pressing them downward without hesitation, making it convenient for Wen Mingyu to touch them.
Then Wen Mingyu briskly walked over, but even though the wings appeared to be close, they were still a distance away from him. The body of the golden dragon was too huge and slender; however, he had only taken two steps when the golden dragon delivered his wings in front of him so he didn’t have to run over.
Upon closer look, one couldn’t help but marvel.
The wings shimmered like a flawless piece of art, expressing an unfathomable beauty.
He gently stroked past the tips of his wings. It was smooth and velvety, with an excellent feel to the hand.
He couldn’t resist touching it twice more.
Mu Zhan felt a touch itch and flapped his wings. The range of movement was very modest, afraid that if he accidentally fanned the wind, he would fan the young man flying and rolling far away.
Wen Mingyu touched him for a while, then let go and looked at those large scaled wings with fondness and envy, saying, “It’s great to be able to fly.”
Who didn’t dream of possessing superpowers as a child? Using props to help you fly was not the same as flying on your own.
While he was still envious, his body abruptly hung in midair when the dragon’s tail ensnared his waist. Just as he panicked for a second, he was put on the back of the dragon, and the tips of his wings even pressed his arm, signaling him to hold on.
Wen Mingly was a bit surprised. “Are you taking me to fly?”
The answer was obvious.
After Wen Muingyu hugged his neck, the golden dragon actually flapped his wings, kicking up a gale that pushed the trees to the east and to the west, and then he soared fiercely into the air.
The hibernating dragon had been startled from its sleep, a single roar moving a thousand mountains.
Wen Mingyu truly experienced the visual experience described in this sentence.
The wind swept past Wen Mingyu’s ears all at once, causing his black hair to also flutter. The ground was getting farther and farther away from him, and he, who was sitting on the back of the dragon, was flying higher and higher.
Verdant trees, forests, and mountains gradually shrank in size, and when they flew to a certain height, he looked down and gathered the whole capital in his eyes.
This visual effect was shocking.
Not to mention that he was now flying on a dragon, and his emotional excitement could be said to have doubled several times over, reaching a peak where his heart was about to burst.
Wen Mingyu’s fluffy rabbit ears popped out, hanging down to his face. His eyes were bright and alert as he gazed around and down at the landscape below, feeling as though clouds were within reach and soft puffs of softness could be touched.
Compared to the massive dragon, the Wen Mingyu on his back could only be considered a tiny thing.
So the others were not able to see him.
That’s right. The dragon with its golden body and majesty aura, radiating a servile sense of oppression, was seen by everyone in the capital city soaring through the skies.
The people were in disbelief, believing this to be the descent of a true dragon, a sign of auspicious omen.
They kneeled down and bowed respectfully, praying for the Dragon God’s blessings.
Meanwhile, even more astonished were the courtiers and guards stationed outside the mountain forest, knowing that the emperor and empress had ventured into the mountain for an outing. They had seen the true dragon flying out of the mountain with their own eyes, appearing not long after the emperor and empress had gone in.
Has the true dragon appeared because of His Majesty?
Was His Majesty the true dragon son of heaven, blessed and protected by the gods?
After being surprised, they swiftly kneeled in the direction of the dragon and bow devoutly.
Because of the distance, Wen Mingyu did not realize that everyone was kneeling and saluting in their direction. However, Mu Zhan saw everything, and after transforming into his dragon form, all of his five senses seemed to have enhanced.
Even from a distance, he could still make out the scene on the ground.
But rather than being moved by this, he felt a little ridiculous.
His horn had earned him the name of monster when he was young, but now he was worshiped as a real dragon. The difference was truly unbelievable.
He also understood very well that, should he not be an emperor of great status today, once his horns were exposed, he would only be viewed as a monster. And if he grew two horns as the emperor, the ministers would not think twice to concoct a variety of beautiful phrases full of auspicious omens for him. It all depended on which position he was in.
It was okay when his current form remained enigmatic, soaring through mist and clouds, emerging and vanishing. However, if he really landed in the world and then was found out that he didn’t have any godly power at all, how long would all that reverence last?
ChiFu: Thank you Chibidere for the Kofi! ~
After the main story is done, I will be checking any mistranslations, especially chapter 1-25. I’m certain there are loads of errors! Aaa… don’t blame the author, blame me TT old me is ashamed of young me aiyo
While we may not see the outside world that much, the fact that our dragon is always diligently checking his memorials and keeping check with the courtiers’ conduct is enough to show that he cares for the common people (it’s his job anyway haha) ~
