The morning after Payne snuck Lu Shijin away, Prime Minister Lu searched all over the manor without finding his son.
Lu Shijin didn’t leave anything behind, not even a note. It was as though he had evaporated. Prime Minister Lu was so nervous that he almost went to the police station.

“Darling, I’m letting you go home to properly prepare for our wedding. Don’t you dare try to run away. Don’t forget I have your other body, as well as Maupay, in my hands. If you have thoughts you shouldn’t be having, you know the outcome.”
Heh, very sexual threats.
“He dared let me out because he knew I couldn’t escape.” Lu Shijin said quietly, “He has stuff on me.”
Prime Minister Lu became more curious. “What stuff?”
Lu Shijin lifted his head and looked at his father, “My dear father, you’ve been in politics for so long, but you still don’t understand a basic concept?”
“Huh?” Prime Minister Lu was confused.
Lu Shijin replied, “The more you know, the faster you die.”
Prime Minister Lu was furious and instantly slapped his son, “You’ve grown guts now, huh? You actually dare to talk to me like that!”
“Go on, hit me.” Lu Shijin stayed on the bed, not wanting nor having the energy to resist, “It’s best that you hurt me, so I wouldn’t have to marry Payne.”
As expected, Prime Minister Lu hesitated, his hand already in the air.
That;s right, his son was the soon-to-be Empress. If they met each other later on, he would have to pay his respects to his son, so he definitely couldn’t do anything to him right now.
“Let me ask you, his Majesty said you agreed to be his Empress, but was it out of your own volition?” Prime Minister Lu sat on Lu Shijin’s bed and asked seriously.
Lu Shijin turned around, hugging his pillow as he smiled at Prime Minister Lu.
“If it wasn’t, what would you do?”
Prime Minister Lu grimaced, “If you aren’t willing, then I’ll go to the palace and plead his Majesty to take it back.”
Lu Shijin raised an eyebrow in surprise, “Why? Didn’t you think it would be good for me to be Empress?”
Prime Minister Lu said unhappily, “If you love his Majesty, then of course it’s a good thing. But if you don’t, your marriage definitely won’t be happy. As your father, I can’t just stand by and watch as you jump into a fire pit. I know you’ve had a hand time these years, after I told you to pretend to be an Alpha. Now that you’ve been exposed, I want you to live your life with the one you love. Omegas are different from Alphas, they can only be marked by one Alpha, so you have to be careful who you choose as your Alpha.”
Lu Shijin had thought that Prime Minister Lu was a heartless person who only cared about profits, making the original body pretend to be an Alpha to stabilize his position.

Prime Minister Lu inspected Lu Shijin’s expression, trying to verify the validity of his words, “Really?”
“Really.” Lu Shijin propped himself up and nodded seriously, then joked, “More than 24k gold.”
Prime Minister Lu was relieved to hear him say that and scolded lightheartedly, “So glib!”
Since his son was still in the mood for jokes, it meant that he probably wasn’t forced.
Three days before the coronation, Payne sent people with clothes for Lu Shijin to wear on the day.
