Chapter 9
The next day, when Bai Yang opened his eyes, the sun had already risen. After a good night’s rest, his spirit felt much better.
Xiao Ling reminded him: “Sir, your daily mission.”
“I remember,” Bai Yan said helplessly.
“There’s a reward if you do the daily mission consistently!”
“Really?” Bai Yang became happy.
“I asked the Main System,” Xiao Ling said. “Considering the situation, the Main System is willing to award you on your quest.”
“What’s the reward?”
“You’ll know when the time comes.”
“Xiao Ling, you’re really amazing.” Originally, Bai Yang was reluctant to perform the tasks, but after hearing there was a reward, he cheered up and even looked forward to it.
Yesterday’s task made him suffer quite the loss, but if you think about it, yesterday was an unlikely accident. Who would have guessed that his target was the Demon King of Eternal Night? Today would be different. He was in his own house, surrounded by his male and female pets. Every one of them was a beauty! Beyond teasing, he could do whatever he wanted to them and they probably wouldn’t resist.
To sum it up, today’s daily task is going to be super easy.
With a happy mood, Bai Yang pushed opened his doors and walked out.
As he opened the door, he saw a beautiful woman and man standing together, wearing transparent cloth, with a basin and towel in hand.
Bai Yang didn’t even glance at the man, and walked straight to the woman holding the towel. He reached out and touched her face. “Beautiful, your face is so smooth.”
That woman blushed and lowered her head. “My lord…”
A ding noise sounded in his mind, telling him that his mission was complete.
Bai Yang picked up the towel and wiped his face. He also used the other toiletries. He finished quickly and walked into the ward. From the corner of his eye he saw two silhouettes kneeling and a third, hitting them with a whip.
Bai Yang stopped walking. His eyesight was excellent, so from far away he still saw clearly. The two kneeling on the floor were the twins who came into his room the night before, and the one whipping their backs was the suspicious guy. He yelled and hit them at the same time, acting like a tyrant.
Bai Yang furrowed his brows and approached.
Bai Yang wanted to say that it wasn’t a problem of whether or not they served him well, but then remembered the electric shock and fear shot through him. He quickly changed what he wanted to say, “Punishment so early in the morning is so noisy! All of you, leave!
The suspicious guy panicked, saying, “Bothering the Lord is a sin deserving of death!”
Then he yelled at the two men. “Didn’t you hear, you’re bothering the Lord! Yet you’re still here!”
.
The two men got up in a panic and rushed down the corridor.
“I say… they are my men. Punishments should be decided by me, so what right do you have to raise your hand?” Bai Yang narrowed his eyes and glared at the suspicious guy.
The suspicious guy didn’t expect Bai Yang to scold him, and he froze. He stumbled and stuttered. “M-my Lord?”
“You aren’t allowed to randomly touch my people, do you hear me?”
“Y-yes…!” The suspicious guy bowed as he answered.
So, for the next three days, Bai Yang had a hard time.
In actuality, living in Xie Ze Tian’s mansion was very leisurely; he didn’t have to do anything, and there seems to be no urgent task. However, in the evening the people in the yard would flock to him and try to climb into his bed.
Bai Yang wasn’t promiscuous, and had a low sex drive, even with beautiful people all over him. However, according to Xie Ze Tian’s personality, couldn’t turn away lovers every day. If that behavior continued, then he’d be out of character, and then he’d be punished by the main system.
So, Bai Yang wanted to contact the male lead as soon as possible, so that he could complete the plot and go home.
The biggest problem was that he was in the Demon Realm, and the Male Lead was in the Human Realm. There was a barrier between the two realms, preventing demons from passing through. However, occasionally, holes would appear in the barrier for a period of time, allowing some demon magic to run rampant in the Human Realm.
These holes weren’t stable, and would disappear quickly.
After the Demon King of Eternal Night ascended to the throne, he — as an outstanding and ambitious demon king — was determined to attack the Human Realm, and unite the two realms. With this goal in mind, he managed to find a passage in the barrier between the Realms. The establishment of the passage was all thanks to Luo Jian Feng. The Demon King of Eternal Night first found the hole on his own, and sent Luo Jian Feng though to the Human Realm also on his own.
After arriving in the Human Realm, Luo Jian Feng used his eloquent tongue to deceive a person who didn’t understand how the barrier functioned. Using that person’s identity, he created a connection with the Demon King of Eternal Night on the other side. In secret, a stable passage was created between the two realms. This passage could only be opened once every three days, and only a few people were able to pass through each time.
The Demon King of Eternal Night wanted to attack the Human Realm, so the first step was to send scout troops into the human world and destroy the Four Boundary Pillars that maintained the barrier. With the boundary broken, the barrier would also break, allowing the demon army to swarm the Human Realm.
Without even mentioning the other problems, Bai Yang’s biggest problem is that there was only one passage connected to the Human Realm. If he wanted to use that passageway, he would need to have direct permission from the Demon King of Eternal Night.
He was waiting for the Demon King of Eternal Night to tell him to go to the Human Realm and kill the Son of the Seven Stars, but a few days had passed with no message from the Palace of Darkness. Bai Yang, with nothing to do, waited impatiently.
If the Demon King of Eternal Night wouldn’t come to find him, then he’d have to take the initiative.
He fixed his appearance for a while. The timing of his visit wouldn’t be inappropriate, so Bai Yang set forth to the Palace of Darkness to see the demon king. While they’d only met twice, Bai Yang was already a little bit afraid of him. To be honest, if there were any other choice, he would rather never see him again. But, for his task, he had to find him.
He was stopped by guards at the front door of the Palace of Darkness.
“I’m sorry, but the Demon King has ordered that no one is allowed to bother him. Please, follow his command and leave.” The guard said.
Not allowed in?
Bai Yang contemplated whether or not he should return back to the mansion, but Xio Ling said in his mind: “Sir, you should have more courage. Don’t be afraid!”
Bai Yang thought, if he turned back now, who knew how many months and years he’d have to wait for news from the Demon King of Eternal Night. Since he wanted to finish his mission, he would have to take the initiative.
He nodded and, without making the guard’s job any harder, left. However, he didn’t leave the Palace of Darkness. Instead, he walked around the palace and disappeared, using teleportation to enter the Palace. The Palace of Darkness was surrounded by an enchantment that alerted the people inside of any intruders, so Bai Yang readied himself to be besieged by the palace guards. But he waited under the palace wall for a moment, and no one appeared.
While raising a brow, Bai Yang walked inside.
There were no people along the way he walked.
In his memories, even though the Palace of Darkness wasn’t heavily populated, it was never empty.
Bai Yang felt a bit curious. He followed his memories to the main hall, yet the throne was empty and so was the surrounding area. There were no hostile people. No one tried to stop him.
What happened?
Curious people would probably explore an area to try and explore its mysteries, but timid people wouldn’t. Bai Yang called out a few times in the main hall and when he didn’t get a response, he waited.
A while after, Bai Yang heard a strange sound.
The sound came from behind the main hall.
There was a door there.
Bai Yang approached curiously, and the sound suddenly disappeared.
“Your majesty?” Bai Yang entered the door. He smelled a scent so strong that it made him dizzy.
Bai Yang covered his nose, lifted his head and saw a man standing in the center of the side palace.
That person wore a deep black long robe embroidered with a complex golden design. With his back turned against Bai Yang, his black hair fell down like a waterfall.
That weird scent in the air became stronger.
Bai Yang sniffed using his nose, causing his head to spin and his eyes watered. It felt very strange, like he was dreaming — everything he heard and saw felt like a dream.
From the corner of his eye, he saw an incense burner in each corner of the room. It looked lit, so the smell was probably coming from there.
“Who let you in?” He heard a cold voice.
Upon hearing this voice, Bai Yang knew who this person was and quickly knelt down. He respectfully said, “Your Majesty.”
“Get out!”
The smell in the air became even more intense and the sound felt like it was coming from far away, yet it had an unstoppable strength. Bai Yang immediately got up and uncontrollably left.
When he was back in the main hall, it was as though a cool wind swept through his head and woke him up from a hazy dream.
What happened to me just now?
It was like I was just controlled by someone.
As soon as I walked into that room, it was like my brain was covered in sludge, unable to think.
Bai Yang stood in the main hall and tried to figure out what that scent was. Before he could figure it out, the Demon King of Eternal Night, in his black robe, walked slowly out from the side door and sat on the throne.
Bai Yang noticed that his clothes were loose and not properly buttoned. As he walked, it revealed a glimpse of his smooth chest and part of his collarbone.
His neck was long and slender, and his skin smooth with a faint glow. His hair fell, covering his chest.
And so, the Demon King of Eternal Night walked, half-dressed, out into public without caring at all.
