During lunchtime, I was visiting the cafeteria with Shota and Minato.\n
We always take our lunch in the cafeteria.\n
–But for some reason, there was another unusual person there today.\n
I looked at her and decided to talk to her.\n
“Hey, Class-rep, why are you here?”\n
“Oh, is there something wrong with me using the cafeteria as a student of this school?”\n
The Class-rep who placed a B set meal of seafood in front of me, tilted her head and asked me if there was anything wrong.\n
There aren’t many other girls who can be so blunt like her.\n
“No, you always eat with the other girls. Why are you sitting with us today?\n
“You’re not very perceptive, Yorito. Isn’t that to eat with yo-gufu!!!”\n
Shota, who seemed to know the reason for the Class-rep’s presence, tried to explain. But in the middle of his explanation, suddenly he held his side and crouched down.\n
Next to him is Minato with a smiling face, but from the angle of his arm, he is completely the culprit.\n
Or rather one could see Minato’s arm moving to attack Shota as if it’s a normal thing.\n
And next to me, the Class-rep is staring at Shota with fierce eyes, and she has a fork in her hand.\n
Since the Class-rep’s side dish was fish and Japanese food, there was no need for a fork to appear there.\n
In other words, it’s obvious that she was trying to use it for something else, but what on earth was she trying to use it for?\n
–Yes, the less I know, the better.\n
“So, is there something you want to talk to me about?”\n
At any rate, Shota and the other had started a fight in front of me, so I decided to talk to the Class-rep.\n
I can only assume that she has something to tell me, since she went out of her way to join us.\n
“Ah, yes. Actually, there was something I wanted to discuss with you about Saotome-san.”\n
“Saotome-san?”\n
“Yes. You see, she came to school today for the first time in a while, right? She’s been absent from time to time, but lately she’s been absent more frequently, so I’m worried about her

.”\n
Ah, I see.\n
It’s true that Saotome-san hadn’t been coming to school recently.\n
Not only was she not the type to interact with others, but she also seemed to avoid everyone intentionally.\n
I guess that’s why everyone thought that she had stopped coming to the school.\n
In fact, I thought she was on the verge of becoming a drop-out.\n
Class-rep has a very caring personality and has always been concerned about Saotome-san.\n
“She has a dark personality you see. She won’t look you in the eye when you try to talk to her, and she’ll only write down replies on a piece of paper instead of speaking”.\n
Shota entered the conversation in a slightly deflated manner, as if he had settled the matter.\n
It’s not like Shota can win a fight against Minato, so you don’t need to look at his attitude to know who won.\n
“Shota, as I always say, everyone has their own situation. Don’t talk badly about someone like that.”\n
“Ah, I’m sorry

.”\n
When I warned him, Shota’s expression darkened apologetically.\n
I know that he didn’t mean any offence. He was just saying what he thought in a straightforward manner.\n
But it’s not uncommon for a casual comment to hurt someone’s feelings.\n
I hate that kind of thing.\n
“I wonder if that’s the reason of feeling nostalgia from Saotome-san”\n
“Huh? Did you say something?”\n
“U~n, it’s nothing.”\n
I thought Class-rep mumbled something and asked her about it, but she shook her head in response.\n
Apparently, she wasn’t talking to me, rather to herself.\n
“So, Class-rep wants to do something today to prevent Saotome-san from dropping out of school, right?”\n
“Yes, as usual, you’re very quick with your understanding.!”\n
“But aren’t you asking the wrong person? Wouldn’t it be better to talk to a girl who has better communication skills than me?”\n
“Rather I chose the best person for the job.”\n
The Class-rep smiled back at my words.\n
I tilted my head, unsure of what she meant, but Minato and Shota nodded their heads as if they were somehow convinced.\n
Is it possible that I’m the only one who doesn’t understand?\n
“Well, if you’re asking for consultation, I can think about it. But honestly, I don’t think it’s a good idea for outsiders like us to poke around much.”\n
“Why?”\n
“Everyone has a line they don’t want others to cross. In the case of Saotome-san, it seems to me that the people she talks to are inside that line that she doesn’t want to be stepped on.”\n
“Is that the case
.?”\n
Hearing my words, Class-rep’s expression turned regretful.\n
I wanted to do something about it since she was asking me for advice, but there was nothing that I could do.\n
I’ve been sitting next to Saotome-san for a while now, and I can tell you that she doesn’t seem to want to get along with the people around her.\n
Rather, she seems to be troubled by being spoken to.\n
It would only be counterproductive to talk to such a girl.\n
If we really want to solve this problem, we need to know why she is absent.\n
But since we don’t have a close enough relationship to know about it, there’s nothing I can do about it.\n
“But Kazehaya-kun, you always get greeted by Saotome-san, didn’t you?”\n
As if she’s not ready to give up yet, Class-rep looked at me as if she was expecting something.\n
“Is that so? I think it was always from me

Well, it’s because we’re sitting next to each other, right? I mean, I doubt one could call that a greeting, though?”\n
She always bowed her head when she came into the classroom, but she never greeted me with words.\n
It is not a verbal greeting, at least not the kind that friends give each other.\n
“And She was kind of surprised when I greeted her today

.”\n
“Maybe she was surprised because it’s been a while?”\n
“Hmm
”\n
I don’t think that is the reason here.\n
But, if you ask me what it is then, I can’t really explain it.\n
But since she seemed to be paying attention to me, I might have really done something unknowingly to bother her.\n
“I want to do something about Saotome-san
.”\n
“Well, we’re sitting next to each other, so I’ll try something out.”\n
“Thank you. I knew I could rely on you, Kazehaya-kun”\n
“I hope you don’t expect too much from me, because I won’t be able to live up to such expectations.”\n
“Yes, I understand. But thank you.”\n
The Class-rep nodded with a smile that made me want to ask her if she really understood.\n
Since I have no idea what to do in this case, that smile sure is troublesome
\n
Even though I called it troublesome, I’m going to somehow try my best to answer the Class-rep’s expectations.\n
