Across the school grounds, from every speaker hidden amongst the greenery and the ones in every classroom, there came the clear, crisp voice of Li Erqin accompanied by soft music playing in the background.
There was the usual trivial news like upcoming school events, and some current news.
Not many students actually listened to the broadcast.
Some were revising their work while some were sleeping or just chatting with each other.
Not to mention the buzzing of those memorising their work.
Rong Si was walking past a classroom when someone suddenly shoved a female student out. Her left shoulder collided into Rong Si’s right shoulder. He reached out to steady her. She was embarrassed and her face turned red as she made her apologies. He responded, “No problem,” with a remote expression and then walked off.
The broadcast continued.
Li Erqin’s voice said, “Please listen to today’s music selection.”
Next was a song being played. Obviously it was a song approved and organised by the teacher for this segment. There was nothing unique about it, just plain old, plain old! Just an average tune.
When Rong Si walked to the classroom, there were excited murmurs following him. “Look! Rong Si!”

Li Erqin was almost half an hour late in coming back to class.
As she entered through the front door, Rong Si noticed the same black jacket as it swept past the back door.
Rong Si gently tilted his head and took off his earbud from his right ear.
Li Erqin turned towards him from her seat and looked as if she had something to say but was hesitating.
Rong Si took the other earbud out as well.
“Ruan Mingxian came to talk to me about the emceeing again.”
Rong Si made a sound of agreement, encouraging her to continue.
“I didn’t agree to it.”
Rong Si raised his brows.
“After that, the teacher-in-charge came along as well.” Li Erqin quietly paused. “She apologised for what she had said to me before, and even agreed for me to be the emcee.”
“And what are your thoughts on that?”
Li Erqin pouted, “I’ve turned them down.”
Rong Si relaxed the hand that had been tightly grasping a pen.
“Lately there is quite a lot that I don’t understand in physics, and with all our practice sessions, a lot of time has been taken up.”
Rong Si placed his pen down, and propped his chin with his hand before saying, “No worries, I will tutor you.”
Li Erqin smiled, “Yup.”
(Minodayz: I’m wondering if the yes is the YES (ง •v•)ง!!! Not the demure yes! lol)
(MissBookie: I’m loving how RS is reacting to LEQ’s meeting with RMX!!)
After a moment of silence, she added, “And then there are the other subjects too. I didn’t get much opportunity to revise and with the mock exams coming up …”
Rong Si laughed (wasn’t sure if was smile but I believed he would have laughed as I would), “Whichever subject you don’t understand, I will tutor you in all of them.”
(MissBookie: You are killing me RS!! Just confess already!)
Li Erqin felt her heart beginning to rapidly accelerate.
Rong Si’s mouth gradually lifted upwards, forming a beautiful curved smile. Followed by his sharp nose leading to those clear glistening eyes that were now calmly looking at her.
So clear that she could almost see right through it (his eyes), yet she was not able to read what was in them.
To one side was Su Zi who continued pretending to be asleep.

That night as the three of them were making their way towards the cafeteria, a group of upper class (senior class) boys ran past them in a rowdy manner. Just as they passed Li Erqin, they intentionally drew up close, making a miffed sound (aka “cheh” or western equivalent “hmph”) “So this is the sister-in-law?”
(TN : Sis-in-law was used to denote the big brother’s woman in big group setting and gangs – a sense of propriety and position.)
Li Erqin was stunned.
Her first reaction was to look at Rong Si.
When she had gathered her wits to ask, the group had already ran off.
Su Zi asked dubiously, “What did they call you?”
Even Li Erqin was uncertain, “It couldn’t be, right?”
Looking once again at Rong Si, “Did they mistake me for someone else?”
Rong Si stated, “They were mistaken.”
As it turned out, they ended up being seated near the group of boys from earlier. They were a rambunctious group, that’s for sure. Wherever they went, it was a cacophony of noise and laughter added with an endless stream of chatter.
Comparatively speaking, especially with Peng Zige missing from Li Erqin’s group, the quietness was almost weird.
The group of boys continued their ruckus but ate their meals speedily. Carrying their plates, they went out of their way to Li Erqin’s table and with cheeky laughter, they bid their leave of her as they departed. (T/N : They had asked her to eat slowly, it’s a polite manner to say, continue to enjoy your meal while I excuse myself first.)
Su Zi’s brain was totally stuff full of questions.

Before the start of the evening study class, Ruan Mingxian was busy trying to complete this assignments. With the female emcee issue not sorted and confirmed, he had to familiarise himself with the whole script. Especially with the festival concert coming up real soon, he really was left with not much time to prepare.
Suddenly there was some movement in the class and a boy from his class was calling out his name in a weird and strange manner.
Turning across, he raised his brows and glared at the boy only to see Li Erqin standing by the door with her trademark “facial paralysis” look.
He was stunned.
Putting his pen down, he walked over to her.
Li Erqin had quickly completed her facial recognition task prior to Ruan Mingxian coming up to her.
When he had arrived in front of her, she used her fingers to point out the group of boys informing him, “They are creating problems for me.”
Ruan Mingxian was perplexed, “What?”
“You are their big bro, right?”
Ruan Mingxian was even more confused, “What?”
Li Erqin smiled. Ruan Mingxian felt even more uncomfortable with her smiling than her not smiling. “Please can I ask that you impress on them not to call me sister-in-law again.”
Ruan Mingxian seemed to have guessed what had transpired and his demeanor plummeted. Apologising, “I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright.” Li Erqin lowered her eyes, unperturbed. “It’s not your fault.”
“I will explain it to them.”
Li Erqin took a step back with a chilled expression as she commented, “I don’t know them and have no intention of knowing them. I hope you can pass my on message to them because I have no wish for them to speak to me in the future.”
A surprised Ruan Mingxian raised his brows. Is this how she displays her anger?
Li Erqin continued, “Although these two situations weren’t directly your fault but they did happen because of you.”
Ruan Mingxian heard his heart drop to the bottom.
“After saying that, in the future, I don’t think I want to be friends with you too.”
Li Erqin finished by asking “Do you think that’s possible?”
Minodayz : Wow – what a clear clean line drawn!!!! Poor RMX really….will this be the last we see of you??? Su Zi pretending to sleep is priceless….I really didn’t think she had it in her to fake sleep! RS and LEQ conversation about study and tutoring seems like some love language! Hahahaha…. Well, til Friday peeps….fingers crossed PZG will be back!!!!
(MissBookie:Why do I feel that RMX will not take this lying down? Also, isn’t it weird that the other Ruan sibling has completely disappeared from the story… scratches head)
