Li Erqin really didn’t know where to begin. Her heart felt uncomfortable, as if it were stuffed with *wads of cotton. However, she didn’t think she had the energy to completely **reiterate what the teacher had said earlier.
(T/N: 团棉花 tuanmianhua ~ ball of cotton or ball of yarn. ** 一五一十 yiwuyishi ~ one five one ten: means to give detailed description, full details or narrate in sequence)
(Minodayz: awww baby doll, so wanna hug you … c’mon RS, cue here for you!!! ;p)
Sighing, she turned and asked, “Are you tired?”
“What?”
“Is it tiring, always being a good student?”
He silently laughed. “I’m alright.”
“What do you have to do to make everyone like you?”
“Nobody can achieve that.”
Li Erqin looked at Rong Si again. “But everyone likes you.”
“How would you know?” he asked in return.
Li Erqin curled her lips. “Isn’t this what everyone has unanimously agreed on?”
“But there are a lot of people who don’t like me.”
How could that be?!
Li Erqin hugged herself tightly, absorbing the faint warmth emanating from Rong Si’s body. “They’re the ones who are lacking in foresight.”
They were both stunned and then, laughed.
As the wind grew stronger, he looked up and whispered, “It’s probably going to rain.”
Li Erqin responded, “Oh.”
“Where do you want to go?” he asked.
“We’re not returning to the evening remedial class?”
Rong Si asked, “Are you feeling better now?”
“There really wasn’t anything (wrong with me) to begin with. Just a few things that I couldn’t figure out, that’s all.”
“And what were they?”
“Why did the teacher do that (speak out of turn)?”
Rong Si remained quiet and listened.
“She didn’t gather any facts or understanding of the situation, had no clue of what had transpired and yet, she drew her own conclusion.” As she was speaking, she grew indignant and aggrieved. Pursing her lips, she continued, “She didn’t even give me a chance to explain.”
Rong Si didn’t reply immediately, but after a brief silence, he asked, “What did she say about you?”
Li Erqin still had a hard time repeating the words the teacher had used to describe her. She was hesitant to articulate it, and finally grumbled, “It’s nothing. Regardless, I am not that kind of person.”
(T/N 欲言又止 yuyanyouzhi – to want to say something but hesitant to do so)
Rong Si could not help but laugh. All this time that he had spent asking and, yet, he still wasn’t able to get anything out of her. However, he was able to hazard a guess as to what had transpired. “I am certain that you are a much better person than they are.”
Somehow, it seemed as if his words of comfort had hit their mark. Li Erqin suddenly felt all the indignation and grievances that she felt before slowly vanishing like smoke (into thin air), and she couldn’t resist stealing a glance at Rong Si.
At that same moment, Rong Si’s eyes collided with hers.
She had no idea when those oppressive clouds of heaviness had evaporated. All she could see was the sliver of moonlight streaking down Rong Si’s forehead and those bright eyes alighting on her. They seemed to transmit an ethereal layer of warmth.
Li Erqin’s hand reached out to touch her chest.
Rong Si shot her a dubious look.
Li Erqin rubbed her chest and looked even more dubious than Rong Si. “This is so strange ….. it’s beating so erratically.”
Minodayz: well, my heart is beating erratically too – I mean … those dubious looks! Hahahahah!!! Padam padam padam!!!! I just love it when these two are together. A mix of lovey dovey, those hard case funnies = just too endearing! Happy Weekend plus spoilers … It’s heating up for the next chapter between our 2 leads. Til next week! ;P
