“Oh.” Li Erqin’s chin was exposed to the cold air, and she tried to tuck it into her collar. “I’m used to it.”
Rong Si arched his eyebrows in surprise.
“It doesn’t matter to you?” he asked again.
“In any case, it’s not like I can muzzle their mouths.” Finally, Li Erqin was able to tuck her chin into the collar. She then said in a muffled voice, “Besides, no matter how much they talk, it doesn’t change anything.”
Rong Si gave a soft and happy laugh.
“Was that funny?” Li Erqin was puzzled.
“No.”
“Oh.”
“It’s good,” Rong Si continued.
“Me?”
Rong Si nodded.
Li Erqin wanted to ask, but Rong Si had turned the corner and was headed up the stairs towards the broadcasting studio.
It had only been a brief three seconds, but she found that she couldn’t strike up the courage a second time to ask Rong Si. What is it about me that you think is good?
(Minodayz : Our 2 are having some heart talk of sort! Too cute – though somehow feels as if it’s one 2 wavelengths. – just need to converge lol)

It was quiet at the end of the corridor, and Su Zi was by herself, peacefully looking up at the moon. Hearing noise at the other end of the hallway, she turned her head. The tip of her nose had turned red from the wind.
At first glance, Li Erqin almost thought that Su Zi had suffered under the hands of Peng Zige.
However, Su Zi’s eyes were positively brilliant and twinkling. She didn’t wait for Li Erqin and Rong Si to walk to her but bounded up impatiently in front of Li Erqin. “Let me tell you.”
She stopped and then hesitated as she looked at Rong Si.
“Do you need me to leave?”
Su Zi chewed on her lower lip. “It doesn’t matter. You’ll find out eventually anyway.”
Rong Si spoke no further.
“Ruan Nuonuo confessed to Peng Zige in the broadcasting studio just now.”
(MInodayz : wow – that sure came out of nowhere! Lol – i mean we suspected it but didn’t expect it to play out like this.)
Li Erqin was puzzled.
Rong Si was silent.
“And then?” Rong Si asked.
“Peng Zige didn’t even think and just refused her,” said Su Zi.
Li Erqin was still speechless.
Rong Si asked, “Are they inside right now?”
Su Zi nodded. “Yes, Ruan Nuonuo began to cry on the spot so Peng Zige is comforting her. I felt a little superfluous standing there so I came outside.”
Rong Si nodded.
Li Erqin started sniffling from the cold. “Then let’s go to the classroom to revise tonight.”
“If the three of us return to the classroom and Peng Zige is the only one who isn’t with us, how are we going to answer the teacher when he inevitably asks?” Rong Si looked at her.
“That’s true.” Li Erqin was vexed. “But it’s so cold!”
As if on cue, Su Zi began to tremble a bit.
Rong Si looked up at the heavens.
Then the door opened.
Ruan Nuonuo was standing in the doorway with red eyes. When she saw them, she quickly lowered her head and said in a small voice, “I’m off to my class now.” Then she hid her face and rushed out of there.
Li Erqin looked up and faced Rong Si. Then they walked single file into the studio.

Peng Zige was sitting at his usual spot in a rather stiff and wooden manner. He slowly turned his head and looked over. “F&*(^%&K……” (TN: The author used a similar-sounding non-swear word, like frick or frack, so either PZG said this “polite” swear word out loud or the author was trying to get around censorship.)
“Pooh!” Su Zi did not hold back. “What kind of reaction is that?”
“Why did you leave me all by myself?” he asked. “We’re fellow comrades (TN: he says they’re “friends of a revolution” that are in deep together), and you actually abandoned me at a very crucial moment.”
Su Zi argued, “Wouldn’t it be another problem if I stuck myself between the two of you?”
(Minodayz : I find it interesting that PZG was seemingly more upset that SZ left the room rather than RNN confession..hmmmmm)
Peng Zige could neither explain clearly nor make any sense of what had just happened. His mind was a mess as he scratched his head, and then he changed the topic. “Fine. As it is, Su Zi, Ah Si and I have either received or made a confession already. There’s only you left, Erqin.”
At this, Su Zi grew completely red in the face. The atmosphere in the room was filled to the brim with awkwardness.
It was only then that Peng Zige realized he had misspoken. Again.
(Minodayz : oh shot -Puppy dog PZG, why did you shoot yourself in the foot there… that was awkward!!!)
Li Erqin looked at him. “I don’t understand these kinds of things that have no solid basis and no logical way to be confirmed.”
“Who’s asking you to understand these things?” Peng Zige didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry. “Liking somebody is obviously something that has no logical reason or definite cause to it.”
Li Erqin scoffed at him. “Brat!”
Rong Si looked at her with laughter in his eyes.
She questioned again, “How do you know whether your feelings towards someone are just general goodwill or if you actually like them or if it’s maybe just the impetuousness of youth?”
As she spoke, even Su Zi was dumbstruck. Last time when they had discussed this, Li Erqin had just calmly asked, “How can you prove that you like Rong Si?” She had never thought that afterwards, Li Erqin would actually very diligently analyse this topic.
Peng Zige was at a loss for words too.
Li Erqin laughed. “In this school, there are so many girls who like Rong Si. How many of them sincerely like him and how many like him because they worship him (i.e. look up to him as an “idol”)? Also, how many others blindly like him just because everyone else likes him too?”
“Aren’t they all still a form of liking someone?” Peng Zige argued feebly.
“This is why I just don’t understand it.”
“Even if you don’t understand it, it shouldn’t affect anything,” said Peng Zige.

The discussion ended there. Peng Zige was carrying a bit of guilt after having rejected Ruan Nuonuo, and Li Erqin’s preposterous arguments (literally: her “slanted reasonings” and “depraved words”) had just about done him in. He seriously pondered what Li Erqin had just said about which feelings were sincere affections for someone, which were just general goodwill towards someone and which were just the rashness of youth.
He thought about his own feelings towards Li Erqin. They were a bit hazy, but it seemed as if they were not that kind of sincere liking someone that Li Erqin had talked about.
All the frustration and stuffiness that had been pent up in the bottom of his stomach slowly started to disperse, and he let out a big breath. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Rong Si, who had been standing there and not saying anything this whole time. As Peng Zige looked, he saw that Rong Si had his eyes locked on Li Erqin and was looking at her pensively.
Peng Zige’s brain had a sudden flash.
What a messy/chaotic world…
