Chapter 22 : Urgency (1)

Not only did Chou Jiu not give up on her pursuit of Rong Si, but her methods got even more high-handed. Even the teachers were made aware of the debacle.  Once, when Rong Si was heading back to class, he was detained by the Dean, who addressed him earnestly: “These incidents concerning you and the girl from the other class are just getting a tad out of hand.”
Hearing this, Rong Si lowered his head in silence.
When Rong Si, who was a head taller than the Dean, lowered his head, the Dean felt as if he was being looked down upon. He quietly took a step back. “I wasn’t criticizing you. It’s just that dating shouldn’t be such a high-profile affair, and of course, it would be best if it doesn’t influence your grades.”
Rong Si furrowed his brow. “I’m not in a relationship.”
The Dean hesitated. “Then how is it that I’m hearing about the girl and you
.”
“We’re not,” Rong Si interrupted the Dean. “Teacher, I’ll be going back to class now.”

Sadly, even though Rong Si had ignored Chou Jiu, things didn’t improve. Chou Jiu’s professions of love continued to blaze on.
After class, she would stand in the way of them heading to the cafeteria holding up banners declaring: “Rong Si, I love you”.
Also, at Monday’s flag raising assembly, she had dashed up to the platform and loudly confessed over the Principal’s microphone.
On Tuesday afternoon during fourth period, the whole student body had assembled at the sports field to prepare for their compulsory jog. Suddenly, from the rooftop of the laboratory building, a large banner unfurled: “Rong Si, please be my boyfriend!”
The noise from the sports field suddenly exploded tenfold. Some students who were not aware of the situation began to jeer while the female students crooned “How romantic!”
Li Erqin was running with Rong Si, but midway she found herself being surrounded by a rambunctious force of people that slowly pushed her back.  She tried hard to push forward but, finding herself unable to catch up, she figured she might as well slip away from the masses and find a sunny spot in which to sit down.
The warm sun shone down on her, causing her to sigh in contentment. Staring morosely at her shadow and feeling the sweat down her back, she subconsciously fiddled with her sweaty collar and decided to count how many times she had already changed clothes that day.
1, 2, 3
.
Just as she counted to three, the hand that was on her collar was suddenly hauled backward by a great force. Her whole body followed the force of the momentum and spun back. A hand, quicker than the eye could see, steadied her and then grabbed her wrist and pulled her forward into a run.

It took some effort before Li Erqin found her footing and regained her wits, and only then did she realize that it was Rong Si who was dragging her along. She docilely followed him as he ran. She observed the short hairs at the top of his head that bobbed up and down with his gait, and smelled his cool, manly scent emanating from his body which  mingled with the autumn fragrance of the sycamore trees. She even noted his left hand that was holding her wrist and how it was slender and powerful and perfectly sculpted.
(Minodayz: ohhhhh myyyyyyy
. Just picture that! lol)
The winter sunset bathed his profile in a warm, red glow; its rays slipped through the trees to cover him in layers of light and shadow. His physique was slender, pleasing to the eye and had the litheness of youth. It was mesmerizing and lured her into running into the unknown.
Li Erqin didn’t know if it was because she had resumed running in such a hurry, but her heart was beating so rapidly that it felt as if it could stop at any time.  Her face also felt as if it was heating up rapidly, and every time she took a breath, she couldn’t seem to decide whether to breathe in or out.
(Minodayz: tell me about it – at your description, I was also starting to have the same reaction! lol)
Feeling scared, she called out to him softly and with some urgency, “Rong Si. Rong Si. Rong Si.”
Rong Si took her past a bend and abruptly brought them to a stop. Because he had pulled her back from her forward trajectory, he used his left hand to support the back of her head and pressed her to his side, keeping her stable and secure.
(Minodayz: ok LEQ, i hereby give you permission to pass out now
swoon I mean! LOL)
Li Erqin’s frazzled brain went completely blank, buzzing.  Her ears could only hear the sound of Rong Si’s heartbeat, padam, padam; it was also beating unusually fast.
She didn’t dare move; in fact she had completely forgotten how to move at all.

Rong Si stole a glance backward and finally let out a sigh of relief. He leaned against the wall and slid/ down. Finally, he noticed Li Erqin standing blankly in her original spot and unexpectedly broke out in a happy laugh. It was brief but captivating. “My bad. My body reacted faster than my brain and just pulled you with me.”
(Minodayz: ummm
any time RS, anytime! lol)
Li Erqin shook her head and rubbed her chest in a daze. “It’s beating so fast
..”
Rong Si raked his hand through his hair, lifted his head and laughed out loud.
After much effort, Li Erqin managed to catch her breath and asked, “Why were you running?”
Rong Si was rotating his wrists, and there was the sound of joints popping and cracking. His face returned to its usual expressionless look as he said, “That person was behind us.”
Li Erqin gave an understanding nod. “Oh. What about Peng Zige and Su Zi?”
“I don’t know.” Rong Si adjusted to a more comfortable position. ”We were all running and then they weren’t there.”
“So how long are we going to hide out here?”
“I don’t know,” he replied in his usual manner. “Just let me enjoy a few minutes of peace and quiet first.”
Li Erqin obediently shut her mouth. Then, remembering her earlier attempt to count the number of times she had to change clothes that day, she fingered her collar again and began to count quietly.
1, 2, 3
.
“I didn’t mean to say that you were noisy,” Rong Si suddenly explained.
“It’s alright, I didn’t misunderstand.” She moved along and sat down by Rong Si’s side. At that moment, her heart began to beat erratically and then picked up speed, causing her to immediately return to her earlier position.
Rong Si looked at her quizzically.
She gave a dry “ha, ha” laugh.
The two of them fell into mutual silence.

From afar two people were slowly walking by. The topic of their conversation seemed to concern one of the people in hiding. “I’m willing to bet it won’t be long before Rong Si accepts Chou Jiu.”
“I think so too. Who could withstand her advances?”
Along with their footfall, their voices came closer. “However, the school’s notorious bad girl paired with the top boy seems a little odd.”
“That’s true
.”
The voices suddenly stopped.
Li Erqin looked up to see that Rong Si had suddenly stood up.
“Let’s go,” he said. His voice carried a chill to it, and he was obviously not pleased at all.
Li Erqin rushed to follow him and frowned as she gave the girls a quick glance before running to catch up to him.
(Minodayz: oh myyyy
from confession mayhem, to swoony runs) – I sure am catching my breath! Well, not sure what more ‘confession methods’ would CJ come up with.  It’s rather funny to think of RS running away! Hahahaha! Love our leads running
