Chapter 7-An Illegitimate Child
Only Gu Yuxuan and Mou Yichen knew Yun Muxi lived here, so it was unlikely that anyone else would come. Hearing someone come, Gu Yuxuan thought of Mou Yichen directly.
Yun Muxi asked indifferently, “Mr. Gong, what are you doing here?”
Gong Yu said cooly, “Come and say hello.”
Gu Yuxuan saw the comer clearly as she went to the door, said surprisingly, “Eh? The handsome neighbor?”
Yun Muxi looked back at Gu Yuxuan. “He is the new neighbor?”
Gu Yuxuan nodded and said, “Yes. I saw the handsome guy walk into the opposite house when I returned back with Niannian.”
Yun Muxi looked at Gong Yu unpleasantly.
Gong Yu spoke first, “I just moved in today. I come here and say hello.”
Gu Yuxuan said hurriedly and warmly, “Come on in. Have you eaten yet? We’re getting ready for dinner. Would you like to join us?”
Gong Yu nodded and said simply, “Sorry to bother you.” Then, he went by Yun Muxi and entered into the door.
Gong Yu went to the table with Gu Yuxuan and sat down. Yun Muxi had little chance of rejection.
Gu Yuxuan got a set of cutlery from the kitchen and laid it before Gong Yu. She said warmly, “We’re neighbors now. Please assist us in any way you can. Xiao Xi lived a tough life because she raised Niannian alone. Please pay a lot of attention to her!”
Gong Yu could not help looking up at the cute baby sitting opposite. His pupils were dilated when he contrasted Niannian with Yun Muxi. He was surprised to find Niannian was Yun Muxi’s scaled-down version. Niannian closely resembled Yun Muxi.
Gong Yu looked sullen, narrowed his eyes, stared at Yun Muxi keenly as he said in a deep voice, “Is this your child?” His words undisguisedly revealed anger and questioning.
Since the first time they met, Gong Yu was indifferent. Gu Yuxuan knew nothing about Gong Yu, so she was unaware of his anger. She said without scruple, “Yes. Don’t you think that Niannian closely resembles Xiao Xi? They are indeed mother and daughter.”
Yun Muxi sensed his anger and got frightened, but she pretended to be calm, saying, “Mr. Gong, it seems to have nothing to do with you.”
Gu Yuxuan found something unusual about them belatedly and asked surprisingly, “Do you know each other?”
Yun Muxi mentioned lightly, “As for the script I worked with Director Zhao, the male lead is played by Mr. Gong. I met him a few days ago.”
Gu Yuxuan sized Gong Yu up carefully and shouted with amazement, “Ah? Gong Yu, you are Gong Yu, right? What a coincidence. I watched one of your films before and you’re so cool. I’ve seen you in costume dramas, so I did not recognize you in modern dress. Wow, can you take a picture with me and give me a signature.”
Seeing Gu Yuxuan be infatuated with him, Yun Muxi glared at her speechlessly.
Gong Yu ignored Gu Yuxuan but looked at Niannian. He looked indifferently but simmered with rage. The veins stood out in his forehead.
Gong Yu stood up like a shot and pulled up Yun Muxi. He dragged her to the bedroom and closed the door with a bang.
Gong Yu threw her against the door plank and rested a hand on it. Yun Muxi was chilled with fear, saying “You? What are you doing?”
Gong Yu tried to ease his anger, so he did not strangle her in a rage. He spoke in an icy voice. “You ask what I am doing? Unexpectedly, you gave birth to an illegitimate child. I spoiled and cherished you, so I could not bear to touch your finger. How can you sleep around with other men and give birth to a child? Are you so sex-starved?”
Yun Muxi took a deep breath and put on a show of calmness. “Mr. Gong, please notice your wording. Firstly, I have nothing to do with you. I don’t know why you firmly believe that we were related. Secondly, it’s private whether I have a child or not. You’re not qualified to question me. Lastly, Niannian is my child, so please don’t talk about her with harsh words, which will do great harm to the child’s soul. Now that we are going to cooperate, we will surely meet. I don’t know why you move in opposite my house. I have no right to interfere with your freedom. If we respect each other, we can live together in peace and treat each other like colleagues or friends. If you refuse to come to your senses, I can only treat you as a stranger.”
Hearing her bitter and unfamiliar words, Gong Yu was so painful that he could not breathe, as if the blood was frozen and the heart was stabbed. His amber eyes turned scarlet and the blue veins on his forehead stood out. He clenched the fingers into fists, uttering “creaking” sound.
Yun Muxi was so terrified that her pupils dilated. She feared that he would strangle her in a rage. The creaking sound was more frightening. She could hear her rapid heartbeat clearly.
When she thought her heart would pound out of her chest, Gong Yu knitted his brows and narrowed his eyes, with cold sweat bursting out on his forehead. He pressed his livid lips together and covered his heart with the right hand. He curled up slowly and sat down on the floor, gasping heavily.
Yun Muxi was panic-stricken. She squatted down nervously, held his shoulders, and asked anxiously, “What’s wrong with you? Your heart…” She almost blurted it out but she stopped. Instead, she asked politely, “Mr. Gong, are you Ok? Is there something wrong with your heart?”
Gong Yu pointed to his pocket and could not say a word. Yun Muxi reached out her hands to grope in his pocket. She reached for a little medicine bottle, took off the bottle cap, and passed it to him. He took the bottle with trembling hands, poured the pills into his mouth, and swallowed with difficulty.
Yun Muxi immediately hid her nervousness. For a moment she would reach out her hands to embrace Gong Yu who was as fragile as a glass doll. However, in the end, she controlled herself and asked, “Mr. Gong, should I call an ambulance for you? Your heart…”
