Sweat trickled down my cheeks. Is this sweat from the heat?
It has been four days since mother’s sudden attack. It is currently 8am. We are currently in front of the station while waiting for the Hirose siblings. Mother has a gentle look on her face but she’s obviously more excited than usual.
The reason why mother suddenly came here was because she had a meeting with my homeroom teacher. My homeroom teacher, Miyano-sensei, knew about our situation and said that she could just give her a call but mother still chose to meet her in person and came here. When I asked her why she would even need to do that, she said apart from the parent-teacher meeting, she wants to meet Mei.
I don’t think it’s a good idea for her to not visit her parent’s house just to meet the girl who’s close to her son. I feel bad for grandma and grandpa.
Incidentally, when mom came here, the super awkward atmosphere lasted for but a moment. She seemed to have understood everything in an instant and took care of my sunburn on Yuna’s behalf. Thanks to her, the pain and color have almost completely disappeared. As expected of an experienced housewife. Needless to say, she asked me in detail why I had gotten sunburned.
「Niichan!」
While I was absentmindedly thinking, Takuya-kun, the only male among the Hirose siblings, lunged to my stomach with great momentum. He was wearing a short sleeve shirt and shorts and looked like an energetic elementary school boy.
I think it’s good that he’s as energetic as he looks but tackling a high schooler is still bad for my organs. I think I felt my rib cage reacting.
「Wait a minute, Takuya.」
「Oniichan!」
Their mother and Akari-chan rushed towards us. They are both dressed in cool summer attire. Their mother looks young and very beautiful. She’s really the mother of the beautiful sisters, Mei and Iori-chan. I’m sure Akari will be just as beautiful as her sisters in the future.
Behind them are Iori and Mei who are waving at me. I raised my hand in response but Akari grabbed my arm tightly.
「Sorry to keep you waiting!」
「Oh」
Iori-chan is wearing a green short sleeved t-shirt and white short pants. She also has a small back where her cell phone and wallet are. Mei is wearing a short-sleeved shirt and a fluffy long skirt. Her hair is tied back on a ponytail and she only has a thin layer of makeup that gives her a mature look pushing her charm to the max.
I’m sure they’re not bad outfits since mother and Yuna are supervising me all this time but walking with them would still make me feel self-conscious.
「By the way, she is?」
「My mother. She’s here because she attended a parent-teacher meeting. She’s going home after this. She came along because she wanted to say hello to Mei’s mother.」
Then, I added “She also said she wanted to meet Mei”. When Mei heard that, she watched our mothers talking with each other then looked into the mirror to fix her hair and some other things.
She said with a straight face that she wouldn’t leave until she meets Mei so I guess that will be their main subject. I didn’t want her to meet Mei but she really intended to not go home so she won. I had no choice but to bring her here. If mother stays with us, I won’t even be able to linger in our living room without being pestered and Dad, who doesn’t have much allowance, would have to eat out. The male members of our family have it hard.
Mother, who had finished greeting Mei and her mother, went to me, who’s taking care of Akari-chan and Takuya-kun, with a terrible smile.
「Mei-chan is a good girl. I like her.」
「Ah, yeah.」
「Don’t you ever let her go. You will never meet another girl like her again. Bye.」
Before I could say goodbye to her, she disappeared into the station. Even though she’s my mother, she’s like a storm.
「Then, shall we go too?」
Following Mei’s mother, we headed for the station. Apparently, there’s an amusement park about an hour train ride from here that the people in this area often go to.
It took us a few minutes to walk from the station to the amusement park. There was a long line in front of the entrance gate. There was a similarly long line next to it but it was for the ticket office. This time, Mei’s mother won tickets from a lucky draw in the shopping district so we didn’t have to wait in that line.
「This side is moving pretty fast.」
I called out to Mei while standing in line.
Akari-chan and Takuya-kun will be with their mother. I thought that we will move in one group but those two won’t be able to ride most of the rides so we’ll just meet with them again during lunch. By the way, their mother and the kids began to queue up ahead of us. Mei and Iori-chan left to buy drinks after all.
「We just got our tickets.」
「I’d like to ask you something. Did mother tell you something strange?」
Mei’s face turned redder and redder just after she had finished talking with mother. However, she shook her head.
「No, she didn’t say anything.」
I murmured “that’s an obvious lie” and Iori-chan, who’s standing in line with us, opens her mouth.
「Oneechan, it’s not good to lie.」
「What are you saying?」
Iori-chan can only shake her head since Mei can’t even look at her. It looks like she’s not going to tell me. However, given the fact that Mei blushed, mother surely said something.
Mother, what on earth did you say to Mei?
No one seemed to be willing to tell me so we just continued our casual chat and before I knew it, we were already in front of the entrance gate.
