“I can't believe there's a treasure chest so soon... Mars, try appraising the treasure chest. Maybe you can find out if there’s a trap or something.”
\n
Zeke said so, so I gave it a try and appraised it.
\n
\n
Name: Treasure chest
Special: -
Value: 3
Details: There’s no knowing what’s inside. The rate of appearance and what inside depends on Luck
\n
It doesn’t seem like a trap... nothing is mentioned under ‘special’.
I told Zeke that there was probably no trap and that I, with my higher luck, might get better results if I open it, and thus I became the one to open it.
\n
I opened the treasure chest with caution.
It contained a bracelet with a red magic stone embedded in it.
When I appraised it.
\n
\n
Name: Fire bracelet(Flame Bracelet)
Special: Magic + 2
Value: C
Description: A bracelet that contains fire magic. Reduces MP consumption by 1 when chanting fire magic and slightly shortens the activation time
\n
When the effect was reported, it was immediately decided for Ike to equip it.
At first, it seemed too big for Ike but it became the perfect size when he put it on.
\n
“Thank you. Mars. Now I can burn the magic beast corpses more efficiently.”
\n
With our loots in hand, we quickly escaped the labyrinth and hurried home.
There were no goblins at all on the way back.
\n
We arrived in Almeria before evening.
We immediately headed to the guild to report.
This time, Ike and I were going inside together.
We entered the guild for the first time. There were only three adventurers and a few staff members.
The inside of the guild was cleaner than I expected.
The walls were decorated with quest papers, and swords shields decorations.
Three adventurers were looking at us who stood out of place.
We were not intimidated by them. If anything, they were looking at us as if we are a rarity.
\n
Zeke walked up to the woman at the reception desk.
\n
“Lucia. I have a report for the guildmaster. Also, there's a magic stone in the carriage that I need you to buy.”
\n
The young woman, about 16 years old, called Lucia, directed the other female employee at reception to the carriage, while she herself led us to another room.
The guildmaster's room was on the second floor.
\n
“This way, please. Are your children with you today?”
\n
Lucia asked and Zeke replied.
\n
“Yeah. I'd like them to be present this time. Can't I?”
\n
“No, I think it will be fine. They both have an atmosphere that doesn't match their age after all.“
\n
I and Ike…
\n
“”Thank you very much.””
\n
We bowed our heads.
Then Lucia knocked on the door.
\n
“Master, Sir Zeke says he has something to report.”
\n
Then from the inside.
\n
“Come in.”
\n
The reply came.
Lucia then opened the door and let us in.
Lucia herself did not go inside apparently.
\n
“Oh, Zeke, thank you for your hard work. And who are those kids?”
\n
“Yes. These are my sons Ike and Mars. Ike, Mars, please say your greetings.”
\n
“It's nice to meet you. My name is Ike Bryant and I'm six years old.”
“It's nice to meet you. My name is Mars Bryant and I’m three years old.”
\n
“Oh. Thank you very much for your courtesy. I'm Ralph Sergent, the guildmaster here. Ralph’s just fine. Nice to meet you. Hey, Zeke, how did you train them to be like this? They are even more polite than most adventurers here, aren’t they.”
\n
“That's the thing, I've never taught them etiquette or how to speak.
Putting aside that for now, regarding the nomination quest details actually the abandoned village at the foot of the mine was occupied by goblins.
I think we killed 400 of them. The problem starts here, when I entered the house in that abandoned village, it had become a saturated labyrinth (labyrinths). It is probably a labyrinth fused with the mine. We have confirmed hobgoblins and goblin mages in the labyrinth. There is a likelihood that a goblin king is located in the deeper levels. Labyrinth saturation (labyrinths) has probably started. If we don't smash them before it reached the magic beast march (Stampede) state, it will pose a big issue to us.”
\n
“What the hell? A saturated labyrinth (labyrinths)... Fortunately, we've confirmed that there are only goblins now. But a goblin king is tricky. I will discuss this matter with Count Carmel. Having two labyrinths in Count Carmel's territory is indeed a bad idea.”
\n
Ralph frowned and continued to say so.
\n
“And what's with the kids? They’re not here on a social studies field trip, are they?”
\n
“Yes. I would like these children to be registered as adventurers as special exception. I had them accompany me on the investigation, and I couldn't have got this far without them.”
\n
“Are you sane? They're only six and three, right? You can't do that even if it’s you, Zeke.”
\n
“May I have you at least do appraisal first? And then I believe you could understand how much these children could be an asset on the field.”
\n
“To think you would go that far. Hmmm... well, if Zeke says so, then why not.
Lucia! I know you're out there. Come in!”
\n
When she said this, she opened the door and Lucia came in.
\n
“Did you notice? All I have to do is give an appraisal, yes?”
\n
I see, so this is the person with appraisal skill.
I appraised Lucia.
\n
\n
Name: Lucia Sergent
Title: -
Status: Human race, commoner
Condition: Good
Age: 16 years old
Level: 1
HP: 10/10
MP: 20/20
Strength: 3
Agility: 3
Magic: 4
Dexterity: 3
Endurance: 3
Luck: 2
Special ability: Simple appraisal (LvMax)
\n
Sergent... She’s Ralph's daughter?
Or rather, it seems that simple appraisal is a thing.
Also, let's appraise Ralph.
\n
\n
Name: Ralph Sergent
Title: -
Status: Human race, commoner
Condition: Good
Age: 40 years old
Level: 28
HP: 65/65
MP: 10/10
Strength: 34
Agility: 32
Magic: 3
Dexterity: 28
Endurance: 31
Luck: 1
Special ability: Swordsmanship (Lv 5/C)
\n
An attacker gorilla huh.
Age-wise, they are likely to be a father and daughter.
\n
And Lucia appraised us, siblings.
Then her face twitched as she stared at us.
\n
“What? Eh? W-wait? Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!”
\n
Ralph saw what was going on. He asked.
\n
“Oh, this is impossible, swordsmanship, spearmanship, fire magic... swordsmanship, wind magic... ho-hol...”
\n
Lucia mumbled to herself.
\n
“Oi, oi. Tell me properly… Just what’s going on…”
\n
Apparently, the simplified appraisal does not allow status figures to be seen.
\n
“Y-you two can use swords and magic?”
\n
Not knowing how to go about that question, I looked at Zeke.
Then Zeke answered for us.
\n
“Ike can use the fire magic Fire, and Mars can use the wind magic Wind and Wind Cutter. Additionally, Ike can handle the magic sword Fire Spirit’s Sword and he is also equipped with a fire bracelet, so I believe their attack power is decently high.”
\n
I knew he wouldn’t say anything about holy magic. I think they know from the simple appraisal result but we’re not going to tell them ourselves, are we?
\n
“Well, seriously... this is beyond just a genius. It's true that there's no option not to use this level of manpower but... O-okay. I'll allow Ike and Mars to register as adventurers. But on one condition.
Let's see some magic. I'm not doubting you but I just want to make sure.”
\n
I and Ike shot magic out of the window into the sky.
Then Ralph.
\n
“You shall be E-rank adventurers by special exception and you can dive the labyrinth for E-rank adventurers. We will issue you an adventurer's card so you can come and get it at a later date. I will also give you the rewards for this nomination quest. On one condition. I only want you to continue with the nomination quest. If possible, I want you to continue thinning out the magic beasts (goblins) and I want information on the labyrinth. It's a lot of work and it will be dangerous but the situation in Almeria is pretty bad right now. Talk it over with Maria and think it over.”
\n
Having said this, Ralph bowed his head slightly.
Zeke understood. He replied that he will think about it together as a family and left the room with his head down.
We brothers followed Zeke and bowed our heads before leaving.
\n
After leaving the guildmaster's room, we dropped in at the guild reception and Zeke received the redemption of the magic stones and the reward for the nomination quest.
His face was smiling as he looked at the rewards handed to him, seems like it was quite a large amount of money.
\n
Finally, we arrived home.
Maria greeted us while holding Leena in her arms.
\n
When I saw Maria and Leena's faces, I felt relieved and tired at the same time.
I didn’t know if it was the same for Ike but for some reason, he started smiling when he saw my face.
I also laughed when I saw that for some reason.
\n
Let's relax at home.
\n

Author’s note:
Ralph, the guildmaster and a commoner, speaks informally to Zeke, a nobleman. Conversely, Zeke speaks respectfully to him.
The setting I decided is such that the guildmaster treats the baronet adventurers just like any other adventurers.
I'm sorry if there are any discrepancies.
TL: Unlike in Japanese, it’s harder to portray the difference in the level of formality via English and that might be the reason why you feel some awkwardness in the tl. So that’s my excuse as a bad TL-er. Btw yup, still world-building. Not entering the 2nd arc that the author mentioned yet.
