That was what the slimes were shouting after they had reached the other side of the giant machineâŚ
A single dragon was there.
Its whole body was shackled in chains, and it was horribly weakened. But it was definitely a dragon.
AndâŚit was most likely a very high-ranking dragon.
It was much larger than the Blue Dragon of Delight.
I had felt that the energy was similar to a dragonâŚand it turned out to be the case.
Dragons were supposed to be rare monsters in this worldâŚbut it seemed like I couldnât stop bumping into them.
Maybe I had some kind of connection to dragons.
As I thought this, I prepared some defense magic.
If the dragon proved to be hostile, I would have to retrieve the slimes immediately.
Fighting a dragon head-on while we were inside of the Blue Moon of Salvationâs base would be suicided.
Of course, if I did have to run away, I would do so after hitting the Universal Purification device with Hellfire of Obliteration first.
That was the planâŚ
âIt doesnât look too good!â
âItâs chained up!â
âPoor thing!â
The slimes said as they gathered around the dragon.
From their movements, it seemed like they had no sense of caution at all.
âŚDid they even remember that we were in enemy territory?
âHey, should you guys really be getting so close?â
I asked as I made preparations to use magic.
And thenâŚthe slimes replied with their careless voices.
âItâs fine!â
âIâm not scared!â
They answered as they went closer and closer to the dragon.
They had been very afraid when facing the Blue Dragon of Delight, so there much be a good reason that they felt it was different this time.
Slimes were monsters, after all. They probably had some kind of âmonsterâs intuition.â
As I considered thisâŚthe slimes started to climb up the dragonâs body.
ââŚHey. You do realize that thatâs a dragon youâre climbing overâŚ?â
I couldnât help but ask as I watched in confusion.
I could understand getting closer to it. Well, barely.
ButâŚclimbing it?
Climbing a wounded dragon that could very well be an enemy
âWell, donât come crying to me if something happensâŚâ
I muttered as I watched the slimes.
Still, I was ready to use magicâbut I wasnât confident I could protect them completely when they were this close.
But I couldnât force them to stop either.
Really, the only thing I could do at this point was to pray for their safety.
âCan you hear me?â
As I was praying for the slimes, one of them reached the top of the dragonâs head and started talking to it.
And thenâŚthe dragonâs eyes opened slightly.
ââŚI am seeing things nowâŚthis must mean I am finally going to dieâŚâ
While the dragon had looked surprised for a second, it muttered in a dry voice and then closed its eyes again.
Apparently, it didnât think that the slimes were real.
âBut, I am here!â
âYouâre not seeing things!â
The slimes shouted angrily.
As they had been ignored, they now wanted to prove that they existed. So they began to hop around on his face and back⌠But the dragonâs eyes remained shut.
And thenâŚfinally, one of the slimes lost patience and said to me,
âYuji! Water!â
Water
Did they want me to use water to force the dragon to wake up?
What the hell were they thinking
Still, I used Shared Senses to check the area surrounding the dragon.
While there were guards around the machine, there was no one close to the dragon.
They were probably staying away, because the dragon would kill them if it saw them.
Instead, they were using strong chains to keep it from escaping.
Given the situationâŚI could probably get away with using some water magic.
However, I wasnât sure.
âHey, are you sure this is a good idea?â
âItâs fine!â
âWater! Hurry!â
The slimes shouted back.
Apparently, the word âcautionâ was not in the dictionary of slimes.
