Chapter 3 â Interacting With Enami-san \nVolume 1\n<hr class="wp-block-separator is-style-wide">\n\n
The next day.\n\n
After classes were over, I walked to the front gate and saw Enami-san.\n
She stood out just as much as before. She seemed unconcerned, but she was clearly attracting attention.\n
As I approached, Enami-san looked up. I said.\n
 ââŠâŠas expected, youâre here.â\n
And Enami-san replied,\n
âAs expected, Iâm here.â\n\n
She walked up to me without a hint of shame. Itâs not as loud as it was yesterday, but the reaction of the people around me is blatant. I can hear the words âno wayâ and âreallyâ.\n
âLetâs go home togetherâ\n
I wondered if Enami-san didnât hear the voices around us or if she was at least trying to be inconspicuous by waiting at the main gate instead of the classroom.\n
Enami-san and I walked slowly down the hill.\n
I wondered if there would be any rumors about me and Enami-san dating. If I had been in the position of an eyewitness, Iâm sure I would have misunderstood.\n
âWhy are you looking around so much?â\n
âNothing, nothing. âŠâŠ Weâre being stared at for a while now.â\n
âReally?ăIsnât it the same as always?â\n
âI wonderâ\n
When she said that, I realized.\n
Enami-san is a person who always attracts attention. Because sheâs beautiful, and because sheâs famous at school. I think itâs because sheâs always in the spotlight that she doesnât think the amount of attention sheâs getting is abnormal.\n
âEnami, you have it hard, donât you?â\n
âWhat?â\n
âNo, itâs nothing.â\n
A little further on, Enami-san asked me.\n
âHey, what did you and Nishikawa talk about yesterday?â\n
âEh?â\n
It must be about lunch break. I wondered if she had seen us going somewhere.\n
âObviously, it was about Enami-sanâ\n
âMe?â\n
âIâm talking about whatâs been going on with Enami-san lately.â\n
I explained it briefly. Both of us were wondering why Enami-san had started talking to me. Also, Nishikawa was worried about Enami-san. When Enami-san heard this, she huffed and let out a little low voice. I think this is what Nishikawa meant by âwhen sheâs in a bad moodâ. I decided to follow Nishikawaâs advice and not mention it too much.\n
ââŠ..Youâve been talking about a lot of fun things, havenât you?â\n
She said that and started to walk faster. She was clearly angry. I hurried after her.\n
ââŠâŠIâm sorry. It was my badâ\n
As soon as I said that, Enami-sanâs feet stopped. And then she looked at my face.\n
Enami-san had the same cold expression on her face as she had last week. I was anxious, wondering where I had stepped on a landmine.\n
We stared at each other for a while, and then suddenly Enami-san asked.\n
âAre you anxious, by any chance?\n
There was no change in her expression. As I was stuck thinking what to do, Enami-sanâs cheeks began to relax.\n
âAs I thought, youâre anxiousâ\n
ââŠâŠ Eto?â\n
âIâm not angry. I was just playing with you.â\n
What? I relaxed and hunched my upper body.\n
ââŠâŠ Youâre funny.â\n
âStop teasing me. Itâs bad for my heart.â\n
âSorry, sorry.â\n
Enami-san seemed to be enjoying herself. Probably because of my reaction.\n
âNishikawa is a nice person, but sheâs a bit too caring. She may have been a pain in the ass, but donât let it bother you.â\n
âNo, I didnât mind it from the beginning. I donât think sheâs a hassleâ\n
âRightâ\n
Rather, I thought that Nishikawa was a nice person. I felt that she had a good relationship with Enami-san and was thinking about her.\n
âIâm sure sheâs worried about Enami-san. She has spent a lot of time with Enami-san, so she knows a lot of aspects that make her anxious. I mean, Enami-san is, you knowâŠâŠâ\n
It was a little bit of payback. I was going to say thatâŠ\n
âThe personality, you know, thatâs a little bit of a problem. âŠâŠâ\n
ă\n
I immediately regretted it. What am I saying? Itâs not the right thing to say to someoneâs face.\n
ă\n
As I had feared, Enami-sanâs cheeks were drawn with a smile on her face. Her mouth was twitching. Unlike before, she seemed to be angry.\n
âNo, that was, well, different. It was more of a figure of speechâŠâŠ.â\n
But the words were so clear that there was no point in making such excuses.\n
And Enami-san said,\n
âI have a difficult personality huh⊠Hmm, I see. Can I ask you to elaborate about that?â\n
âNo~â\n\n
While I was troubled, a part of me wondered if it was true. If it wasnât, she wouldnât be doing such things in the classroom like that. Of course, I canât say that.\n
âHey, Nishikawa was not saying the same thing about me, was she?â\n
âNo. Itâs just my opinion.â\n
âHmm. So your opinion, right. It was not a figure of speech.â\n
Oh, no. It was a trap. It was my fault for falling for it so easily.\n
âYeah, youâre right.â\n
I decided to make a clean break. I canât deceive her anymore, can I? So I thought I would say what I thought honestly.\n\n\n
âEnami-san has a selfish streak.â\n
âHuh.â\n
âFor example, the fact that youâve started to ambush me, but you donât tell me why.â\n\n
I thought that this might be a good opportunity for me to express my honest thoughts and find out what Enami-san was thinking.\n\n
<hr class="wp-block-separator is-style-wide">\nTN: Ooh, he was careless..\n\n
