Chapter 1 – Naoya Ookusu \nVolume 1\n<hr class="wp-block-separator is-style-wide">\nThe next class was math.\n
Shiroyama-sensei, with whom I had an interview yesterday, took the podium. This class was followed by a lunch break.\n
It must have been about five minutes after the class started. Suddenly, the door at the back of the classroom made a noise and opened.\n
All eyes in the classroom turned in the direction of the sound.\n
The teacher had stopped the class and was silently looking in that direction.\n
A single female student was standing there.\n
She had a student bag slung over her shoulder. It was obvious that she had just arrived at school.\n
“

”\n
And she didn’t say a word. She stood there silently, not moving, not looking up, with many eyes on her.\n
Shiroyama-sensei raised his voice.\n
“

 Enami? Late again?”\n
“

.”\n
But she ignored him. She walked straight to the back of the classroom and took a seat by the window. In normal circumstances, it would be difficult to remain calm in the face of so many stares.\n

I don’t know her very well. I’ve seen this kind of scene many times when we were in class together.\n
She – Risa Enami was such a student.\n
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"></figure>\n“Are you listening to me, Enami? What are you thinking by always being late?”\n
Shiroyama-sensei put the textbook on the table. The usually mild-mannered teacher’s brow wrinkled. His eyes were sharp and his voice was low.\n
“

”\n
Still, Enami-san remained silent. She took one look at the teacher’s face and then looked out the window as if nothing had happened.\n
I thought I heard the sound of the teacher’s veins snapping. The teacher walked down from the podium, and with loud footsteps, approached Enami-san, whose face was still turned away from the teacher. Enami-san must have been aware of the teacher’s presence. However, she continued to ignore him.\n
Finally, the teacher reached the side of Enami-san.\n
“How many times do I have to tell you! Enami!”\n
Finally, Enan-san’s face turned toward the teacher.\n
–Although I couldn’t see clearly from my seat in the very front, Enami-san’s face seemed to be almost expressionless. Even though she was being shouted at, she just looked at the teacher with the same bothered gaze as she would when a fly was bothering her, telling her to go away.\n
“

 what?”\n
Despite all this, that was the first word that came out.\n
The teacher was also surprised and at a loss for words. For a while, a heavy silence covered the classroom.\n
Soon, the teacher regained his senses.\n
“

You’ve been late this much, and now you’re saying, ‘What?’. Isn’t there something else you should be saying?”\n
Enami-san replied while twirling her bangs.\n
“Not particularly. I mean, don’t you have better things to do for the students who are diligently attending school and studying than me?”\n
Oh, that’s bad, I thought.\n
The teacher’s clenched fists were trembling.\n
I also noticed that the nape of his neck was slowly turning red.\n
As expected, the teacher’s patience ran out.\n
” Enami!!!!”\n
The teacher’s loud shouting echoed throughout the classroom. Even here, a short distance away from the teacher, my ears were tingling. Several people in the classroom were shaking their bodies in fear at the sound of his voice.\n
“You’ve been saying a lot of nonsense without showing any remorse! Don’t you dare underestimate the adults! You’re interrupting my class! You’re a high school student and you think you’re allowed to go to school around noon?”\n
I could hear a voice behind me saying, “Oh no!”.  It was Saito.\n
If sensei’s anger gauge is this high, he won’t be able to stop. \n
“What’s with that face? Are you listening to what I’m saying? You’re late for school, you don’t go to class, and when you do, you just sleep, and your grades are terrible! What are you doing in this school? I could have you expelled!”\n
I was curious to see how Enami-san was doing, so I leaned forward to check her expression.\n
 \n

..Enami-san remained unperturbed even in this situation.\n
She never took her eyes off the teacher and listened to him with her hands on her cheeks, as if the event was taking place somewhere far away.\n
“Oh, so you’re okay with that? I’m serious you know! I’ve never seen such an insolent student in my life! Don’t think you’ll be allowed to keep acting like that forever!”\n
At that moment, there was finally a movement in Enami-san. Enami-san took a deep breath and leaned back and crossed her arms. It did not look like the behavior of someone who was being yelled at.\n
Then she said.\n
“And?”\n
The air froze even more.\n
Saito pats my shoulder and says in a whisper.\n
“I think we’ve lost our lessons for today. We’re lucky.”\n
“You know
..”\n
But I guess it’s true that we don’t have time for class anymore. Oil was poured on fire that was burning hot. There was nothing we could do about it.\n
Perhaps it was my imagination, but I could hear the teacher’s raspy breathing. If I were in the teacher’s position, I would probably have fainted from anger. Even though he complained so much, the only words that came back to him were “What? and “And?”. That’s all. Moreover, Enami-san was not upset at all and was listening to his words.\n
Then, the teacher raised the volume even higher and shouted.\n
” Enami ïŒïŒïŒïŒă€€Come with me”\n\n
Needless to say, everything went according to Saito’s words after this.\n\n
