Chapter 3 – Interacting With Enami-san\n Volume 1\n<hr class="wp-block-separator is-style-wide">\n“I don’t know why X=2 here.”\n
“Oh. Maybe you don’t understand the part before that.”\n
When I looked at Enami-san’s notes, I could see that they were neatly written on the paper. Her handwriting was much cleaner than I expected. It wasn’t as cute as round letters, but it had a lot of energy.\n
When I taught, Enami-san understood immediately. She probably has a good head on her shoulders.\n
“I see. Thanks.”\n
“This is a minor thing.”\n
I went back to my original spot. If I stay next to her too long, people might misunderstand me.\n
I solved an English reading problem. In reading, accuracy is important, but speed is also required. You don’t necessarily have to read the whole thing. You can just skim through the questions and then read the sentences.\n
After solving one major question, I was asked again.\n
“I don’t understand something again. Tell me.”\n
“…… Yes.”\n
I sat down next to Enami-san again as she shifted to the side. This time, it’s a little more involved than before.\n
“What do you not understand?”\n
“It’s here: …….”\n
“Oh.”\n
Somehow, I knew right away where she had stumbled. Maybe she was thinking the same way I had in the past.\n
When I teach, Enami-san immediately understands again. I knew my prediction was correct.\n
“Thank you.”\n
“Hmm”\n
Back again. I turned my attention to the English problem.\n
After solving two more big questions, Enami-san asked me to teach her again. I taught her about it, went back to my seat, was asked, taught, and went back again.\n
It became ridiculous for me to keep moving from one seat to another, so I decided to stay next to Enami-san. As I taught her again and again, I realized that she was not an idiot. She had a surprisingly solid foundation.\n\n
In mathematics, many things cannot be solved unless you understand what you have learned so far. However, Enami-san seemed to have mastered middle school-level mathematics. I gradually realized that this was why she understood what I was teaching her so easily.\n
That’s what the teacher said. He said that she started to be late in her second year. If that was the case, she must have been studying diligently and getting good test scores before that.\n
I think the speed of learning is different between those who had no habit of studying and those who had a habit. Those who did not have the habit do not know how to study in the first place. Because of this, they tend to obsess over their notebooks or draw a lot of markers in their textbooks for no reason.\n
This is not the case with Enami-san. She doesn’t just focus on the words in bold in the textbook. In addition to that, she tries to understand the flow of the textbook and study the main points.\n\n
“-e, hey, are you listening?”\n
As I was thinking about it, I noticed that Enami-san was shouting. I quickly asked her what was wrong.\n
“I want to go to the drink bar, but I can’t get through unless you move aside.”\n
“Oh, sorry. I was just about to go too, so I’ll just go get a drink for you as well.”\n
“Same as before.”\n
“Okay.”\n\n
I took the drinks and put them on the table. I realized that more than an hour had already passed since we had started studying.\n\n
Gradually, I began to feel less and less uncomfortable about sitting next to Enami-san. When I was studying in the library, it was natural for someone else to sit next to me. It was almost like that feeling.\n
“You’re good at teaching, aren’t you?”\n
Enami-san raised her head and looked at me. She was leaning forward and had her cheekbones on the table.\n
“That’s not true.”\n
“That’s true.”\n
Our faces were pretty close together. I leaned my body to the other side.\n
“Did you used to be good at studying, Enami-san?”\n
I asked her something I was curious about. She looked puzzled.\n
“It’s not like that. But I’m sure my grades are lower now.”\n
I thought it was a vague answer. I had a feeling that her grades were actually at the top.\n
The conversation stopped for a moment. I took a sip of my melon soda. Now that I’ve finished studying English, I wanted to take a break. I put my glass on the table and took a break.\n\n
“Hey.”\n
After drinking the same iced coffee, Enami-san said.\n
“Tell me your line ID.”\n
“Eh?”\n
I was surprised by the suddenness. I didn’t expect her to say such a thing.\n
“It’s okay, but why?”\n
“There’s nothing wrong with this kind of thing, right?”\n
Enami-san took out her smartphone. She then displayed the QR code and held it out to me.\n
I took my phone out of my pocket and opened up Line, pointing my camera at the QR code and registering Enami-san’s account.\n
“I added you too.”\n
Enami-san’s icon was a picture of the countryside somewhere. The sky and greenery were beautiful.\n
“Was your photo taken at Mount Fuji or something?”\n
“Yes.”\n
I set it up about four years ago and haven’t changed it since then.\n
“What about Enami-san’s?”\n
Enami-san looked troubled at the question.\n
“You probably wouldn’t understand even if I told you.”\n
“I see.”\n
I was in a strange mood. I never thought that the day would come when I would exchange line IDs with Enami-san.\n\n
“Do you want to study some more?”\n
Enami-san nodded.\n
“Sure.”\n
In the end, we studied together until about 5 pm.\n\n
