Chapter 296 The Ghost on The Neck
Mr. Zhu continued, âThen, someone introduced me to a group of three Daoists. They told me that a powerful child spirit was currently pestering Xiaoying, and they were no match for it, so they set up this Fengshui to ease her condition. They promised me they would ask their master for help, but that was a month ago nowâŚ.â
Ye Shaoyang could not help but shake his head, âThree idiots.â He pondered for a moment and asked, âMr. Zhu, how much did you pay them?â
âThey asked for five hundred thousand, but I just paid two hundred thousand as a deposit. Since they did not solve the matter, I did not pay them the remaining amount. I can pay for a higher price, as long as Xiaoying can recover.â
âThirty thousand; I will settle the matter for you.â Ye Shaoyang showed three fingers to Mr. Zhu.
Mr. Zhu looked forward to Ye Shaoyangâs help, but he heaved a sigh when he heard the price and answered in a flat tone, âThey failed to treat Xiaoying even when I offered such high pay. I donât think you can settle it with thirty thousand.â
His answer left Ye Shaoyang speechless for a moment before he continued, âDo you really think if a sorcerer seeks a high pay, they would be powerful?â
âOf course, you get what you pay for. Sorry for being harsh, but a genuine Daoist would not display their skill for a small matter.â
Ye Shaoyang helplessly shook his head, âFirst, I collect money from you because I donât want you to owe me; if not, you would have to return the favor to me in your next life. That would take more than three hundred thousand. Therefore, I just asked for a symbolic pay. You can pay me after I have done treating your daughter.â
His words stunned Mr. Zhu. He scanned Ye Shaoyang from head to toe. Zhuang Yuning felt it was the right time, so she quickly added, âUncle Zhu, although Mr. Ye is young, he is a Heavenly Master from Maoshan Sect. No harm in letting him try.â
Mr. Zhu seemed to feel relieved after listening to her words and made a decision as he stepped forward and held Ye Shaoyangâs hand emotionally, âIf you can treat Xiaoying, I can pay you more than that. It is fine even if you want to marry Xiaoying.â
Ye Shaoyang rolled his eyes. What a strategic plan! Not only would he get his daughter treated, but he could also grab a good son-in-law.
âLetâs not waste time. Can you please lead us to your daughterâs room?â
Mr. Zhu hurriedly led the three of them to the second floor. Looking around the pavement in front, Ye Shaoyang became speechless: Sheets of yellow talisman papers filled the hallways in a manner that resembled the advertisement brochures stuck onto telephone poles. He shook his head as he followed Mr. Zhu to a room, and Mr. Zhu quietly pushed open the door.
The three peeped into the room at once: A young lady with disheveled hair and a dirty face sat on a bed. Her face was emaciated and appeared weak. Two pieces of white cloth were stuck on her forehead. Her eyes stared blankly over the wall and showed no response toward the interruption from the three.
âWhat is that white stuff on her forehead?â Zhuang Yuning wondered.
âThey are the fever relieving pads. She always complained about having headache and would relieve a little after sticking those on.â
However, Ye Shaoyang did not take notice of the things on Xiaoyingâs forehead. In fact, he did not even look at her face but stared at her shoulders. He frowned heavily and sighed, âNow I understand.â
âWhat have you understood?â Zhuang Yuning asked.
Ye Shaoyang did not answer her but he turned his head to Mr. Zhu, âI need a private space to perform Daoist crafts. I promise you I will bring back a well-conditioned daughter to you.â
Mr. Zhu hesitated for a moment before he turned his back on them and left.
Ye Shaoyang closed the door. He stuck a Soul Repressing Talisman Paper on the door. Turning around, his face turned grave as he gazed at Zhu Zhongying.
âBig Brother Shaoyang, what did you just see?â Zhuang Yuning asked in low voice.
Ye Shaoyang reached out for some Qixing Grass Liquid and sprayed them onto the eyes of Xiao Ma and Zhuang Yuning, âDon't get frightened. Look for yourself.â
Zhuang Yuning rubbed her eyes and stared at Zhu Zhongying. She froze at once, and her eyes widened. Her body leaned hard on the door, and her palms covered her mouth tightly to prevent herself from screaming:
On her shoulders sat a three-year-old girl, skinny with long hair with crumpled red pajamas. The girl had a pair of big protruding eyes. The eyes were pitch black and the white of the eyes could not be seen. She was riding on Zhu Zhongyingâs shoulders and her two small palms were pinching at each side of Zhu Zhongyingâs temple.
Realizing that the three could see her, she showed no fear but warned them with her mouth wide opened, baring her two fangs.
Zhuang Yuning had never seen such a horrific scene. She almost fainted but could barely withstand the sight thanks to the presence of Ye Shaoyang.
Xiao Ma was terrified too but his fear threshold was higher than her. He returned to his senses after a moment and asked, âWhat kind of spirit is that? And what is she doing with her fingers moving through her head?â
âShe is extracting Zhu Zhongyingâs soul to eat later.â Ye Shaoyang answered as he gazed at the spirit.
âTo eat? Is that a cultivation method?â
Seeing Ye Shaoyang nodded, he quickly added, âCan she be normal again?â
âShe became mad because it has eaten up two of her seven Po. If we had come one or two months later, it might have consumed more than three Po. At that time, even I have no confidence in bringing her back to normal even after helping her gather her Po.â As he spoke, he advanced toward Zhu Zhongying.
Silently, he hid his Gang Qi, preventing the spirit from detecting his cultivation level. The spirit loosened its grip on Zhu Zhongying and jumped on the bed when it saw him approached. When it came into contact with the ground, a pool of blood suddenly emerged from the smooth, shining floor. It sank into the blood and disappeared.
âWhat happened? Where did the spirit go?â Zhuang Yuning asked as she looked around in a panic. Suddenly, she felt her legs give way. She hung her head down and saw that a puddle of blood had appeared underneath her feet. A pair of hands covered with blood emerged and grasped her ankles and pulled her into the blood pool. Zhuang Yuning felt her conscious leave her mind; it was being pulled into the blood pool.
Ye Shaoyang sprung toward her and stuck a just drawn Soul Binding Talisman Paper onto her forehead and comforted her, âIt was trying to pull your soul. Don't worry, this talisman paper will bind your soul.â As he spoke, he stuck one onto Xiao Maâs face too.
The spirit gave up its plan once it realized that its strategy could not work and dived into the ground and disappeared.
Moments later, another puddle of blood emerged under Ye Shaoyangâs feet and extended out. Ye Shaoyang snorted. With a flick, he cast out some cinnabar powder from his right little finger and drew a Soul Extorting Curse on his left palm. Before he finished drawing, the pair of hands reappeared and grasped his ankles.
However, Ye Shaoyang did not bother about it at all. Instead, he drew the curse in a steady manner.
