“She is the disciple of a supreme witch family, and we have the same enemy. This should be OK,” Ye Shaoyang said to himself.

Though Tan Xiaohui was a white witch and Jin Shuai was a black sorcerer, they were both from the Miaojiang Sect. Perhaps Tan Xiaohui had some secret methods and didn’t want to be seen; hence, she operated alone.

The thought gave Ye Shaoyang an additional boost of confidence in capturing Jin Shuai which, in turn, brightened his smile. He turned to observe. Li Ansheng nodded as Xiao Ma was briefed him on the matter, “Don’t worry, Master Ma. I know the rules. No problem.”

Xiao Ma then winked at Ye Shaoyang as he gave him thumbs up.

Ye Shaoyang was pleased. He had contributed to the conversation and asked Li Ansheng about the latter’s brother being possessed.

Upon hearing his brother’s name being brought up in the conversation, Li Ansheng’s face stiffened. He put down his wine glass and sighed, “You might not believe what I am going to tell you. My brother was cursed by a water spirit.”

This instantly intrigued Ye Shaoyang. He nodded as a signal for Li Ansheng to continue his story.

“It all started two or three years ago…” Ye Shaoyang’s eyes widened. Was it merely a coincidence that it started then? Or was the possession something related to the Five Spirit Moving Mountain Formation?

“I’m from the Lee Clan’s Village Waterfront. After graduation, I worked for Star City Corporation. Director Zhou liked me, and I worked my way up to the position of a Branch General Manager. My brother, on the other hand, stayed in our hometown as a farmer. There’s a Black Mountain Dam near the Lee Clan’s Village Waterfront. Five years ago, I spent a big chunk of money to buy part of the dam and started a freshwater aquaculture business. My brother handled the business for me.

“The first few years were smooth, and he managed to make good money. However, things started to get weird a few years ago. The water turned black and cold for no reason, and even the winds became chilly. The locals used to enjoy swimming in the dam, but then, a few people went missing while swimming in the dam that year. They had not found the bodies until today.

“Rumors soon spread that the dam was haunted, but that was not the worst. Things only got worse after that. Fishermen, including my brother, caught less and less fish, and those fish were tainted with blackness throughout their bodies. They had human eyes except they were black. Worse still, all the fish had grown fangs and started to bite!

“The locals called them ‘undead fish’. They hired some scientists to research it, but nobody came up with a plausible explanation. Not even cats wanted to eat those fish let alone humans. Soon, fishermen started to abandon their businesses, and the dam became a prohibited area. Nobody dared to pass by the dam even when the sky was bright, but there’s more…”

Li Ansheng licked his dry lips, “I have only heard the news of it, but I never witnessed any of it. It would be better if my brother recounted the story.”

After the meal, Zhou Jingru arranged transportation. Wang Ping needed to stay behind, and the rest of the group left in a car. Xiao Ma had grown fond of Wang Ping. He took the opportunity to ask for her social media information.

Li Ansheng drove the group to the Lee Clan’s Village Waterfront. Sitting in the passenger seat, Xiao Ma could not hold back any longer. He needed to know more about Wang Ping.

“Manager Wang? She’s quite a nice person.” Li Ansheng nodded as he said, “She used to be my personal assistant. She works well. Lately, I have been considering training her more and eventually promote her to PR Manager.”

Xiao Ma frowned upon hearing the word ‘personal assistant’. He asked, “Tell me honestly, have you ever taken advantage of…”

“What?” Li Ansheng turned to look at Xiao Ma. He immediately understood Xiao Ma’s concern. Li Ansheng laughed as he shook his head, “No, no. Never.”

Xiao Ma was not convinced, “You sure? She’s so pretty and you look… perverted. You spend a lot of time in the same office together. I don’t believe that you never had the intention.”

Li Ansheng burst into laughter, “I hope I don’t offend Miss Zhou with what I am going to say. I like pretty girls too, but I have never developed any sort of feelings for Wang Ping. Even my jealous wife has never felt jealous or suspicious of her.”

Xiao Ma frowned, “And why is that?”

Li Ansheng shrugged, “She’s my niece. Her mom is my sister. Would I even think about hitting on her?”

“Well, that’s hard to say. It’s not like incest has never happened.”

Xiao Ma’s words were harsh, but he was secretly relieved to hear the response.

Li Ansheng understood what Xiao Ma was going through. As Li Ansheng laughed off Xiao Ma’s words, he looked at Xiao Ma.

“Master Ma, if you are sincerely interested in Wang Ping, maybe I can help by saying a few good words about you. She’s single for now, but whether you can be successful in the endeavor depends on you.”

Xiao Ma took a quick glance towards the backseat. Ye Shaoyang and Zhou Jingru were both staring at him with teasing eyes. Xiao Ma blushed. He tapped Li Ansheng’s shoulder.

“We’ll talk about this later in private.”

Ye Shaoyang and Zhou Jingru looked at each other and burst into laughter.

Twenty minutes later, the car drove into a small village and stopped in front of a mansion.

“Mister Ye, this is my brother’s home,” Li Ansheng said as he got out of the car.

“Your brother is quite a rich guy judging from this mansion.”

Xiao Ma admired the majestic mansion.

Ye Shaoyang pulled Xiao Ma aside and whispered, “How much are we charging him for this job?”

Xiao Ma proudly raised his fist and pulled out his thumb and his pinky.

“Sixty grand?”

“Seventy grand!”

Ye Shaoyang glared at Xiao Ma, “Are you dumb? You are showing six not seven!”

“Urgh…” Xiao Ma scratched his head, “It’s seventy grand.”

Ye Shaoyang nodded in satisfaction. Seventy thousand was enough for them and affordable for Li Ansheng at the same time. It was a fair deal.

Li Ansheng led the group into the house. The whole family was there to welcome the group. Apparently, the family had already been informed that the group would be coming and were more than happy to meet them.

As the group settled down in the living room, the family quickly prepared hot tea and served them. Ye Shaoyang said to Li Ansheng, “Forget about the tea. I need to meet your brother now.”

Li Ansheng gestured at the family, and soon, a fine looking young wife came up to the group. Li Ansheng introduced her, “This is my sister-in-law, Xiao Ling.”

Xiao Ling led the group into a bedroom. A thin and dark man lay on the bed. At the end of the bed, a middle-aged woman sat with a bowl in her hand. She seemed to be his caretaker.

At the first sight, it was already obvious that the man was terribly ill, and yet his sick-looking face could not cover up the fact that the man was not handsome, to say the least.

“This is my brother, Li Leqing,” Li Ansheng introduced.

Ye Shaoyang and Xiao Ma simultaneously looked at Xiao Ling. Xiao Ma sighed a little, and Ye Shaoyang could almost hear Xiao Ma say, “The beauty and the beast.”

Ye Shaoyang walked to the bed and scanned Li Leqing from head to toe. His face looked as pale as a dead body, and his eyes lacked energy like a dead fish. Ye Shaoyang checked Li Leqing’s eyes. The blood capillaries in his eyeballs were starting to dry up. As Ye Shaoyang looked into the man’s mouth, everyone was frightened. It was not a good sight. Li Leqing’s teeth were turning black, and his tongue was rotting. Black liquid dripped from his mouth.
