When I was a Hero Level 1, I didn't have enough MP to use this bonus spell.
Now that I have stacked four jobs and grown to Hero Level 6, can I use it?
If I can use Meteor Crash and obtain the Mage job, that would be great.
Even if I don't get the Mage job, if Meteor Crash is an area-of-effect spell, I will have gained a means to attack groups of enemies, which was my original goal.
I chanted to reset my character.
I have one bonus point left. It seems the Explorer has leveled up.
I removed the Warp and obtained the job settings, then checked Meteor Crash, the bonus spell, with the remaining point.
Just in case, I moved to the first floor using Dungeon Walk.
I hunted two Needlewoods to fill my MP.
Then, to the next monster that appeared.
Take this.
Meteor Crash.
...
I chanted, but nothing happened.
So it didn't work.
The Needlewood slowly approached, swinging its branches to attack.
Reluctantly, I mowed it down with Durandal.
Maybe I still don't have enough MP at Hero Level 6.
How much do I need?
If it requires a lot of MP, it must be a powerful spell.
I tried to convince myself of this.
I look forward to using it when I can.
Even though I couldn't use Meteor Crash, I'm not depressed.
It was within my expectations.
Just in case, I chanted to reset my character again.
Full MP Release.
This is it.
Judging by the name, it's probably an attack spell that releases all my current MP to attack the enemy.
Since it's a release, it should work regardless of my current MP.
If it just sets my MP to zero, it should work whether I have one, a hundred, or a million MP.
I don't think it will say I don't have enough MP.
The problem is that my MP will be zero.
Will I be okay if my MP is zero?
At the very least, I'll be more depressed than ever.
Unlike Full HP Release, it shouldn't be fatal.
I'll try it near the small room where the beautiful knights were before.
If something happens, I can run into it.
There don't seem to be any monsters there, so it should be a good place to run to.
I considered the entrance room, but it's not a good place for people to pass by.
There's the advantage of being able to run outside in an emergency, but it's pitch dark outside at this time, so the danger level won't change much.
I searched for a monster near the entrance of the small room.
Because the condition was too strict, monsters didn't appear for a while.
I finally found a Needlewood a bit away from the entrance.
Can I pull it over?
I turned my back to the monster and ran towards the small room.
I was hit from behind after running a short distance.
The Needlewood seems to move faster than I thought.
I turned around and faced the monster.
I chanted Full MP Release.
Something was pulled out of my body.
At the same time, a terrible feeling washed over me.
It must have been my MP—my willpower or mental strength—being drained.
It worked.
No, it worked too well.
I wish it had failed.
The Needlewood in front of me exploded.
It scattered like smoke.
What have I done?
If other monsters see this, they'll definitely kill me.
I'm weak, talentless, and stupid. I have no redeeming qualities. I'm the worst person.
Thinking I can survive in another world is sheer arrogance.
I couldn't even find a decent place to go on Earth.
I'm destined to die somewhere, sprawled out.
There's no way I can get someone like Roxanne. She wouldn't even acknowledge me.
It's a trap by the slave trader. A conspiracy. A scam. A fraud.
I picked up a branch and ran into the small room.
Even in a situation like this, I still pick up branches. How cheap. Too cheap.
How low and ugly a miser can I be?
I took a breath in the small room.
It's fitting for someone like me to tremble in a safe place.
The small room should be safe.
What a failure I am, preparing an escape route in advance.
Think about it.
This state is happening because my MP is empty.
How do I recover from this?
I can only use Durandal's MP absorption.
So why did I run to a place without monsters?
I should have set things up so that I had no choice but to fight monsters.
A poor plan is like taking a break. There's nothing more terrifying than an enthusiastic but incompetent ally.
This is what happens when I try to use a cheap trick.
Should I go outside?
What am I thinking? Am I an idiot? A fool? A moron?
There's no way I can handle monsters outside right now.
A stupid, lazy, cowardly chicken like me belongs in a monster-free small room, trembling in fear.
But is this place really monster-free?
Who decided that?
It's just a guess.
It's just a hopeful assumption by an idiot and a fool.
That's right. This place might not be safe either.
I need to run.
Run.
Where to?
There's no safe place.
Everywhere is dangerous, everywhere is full of enemies.
There's no place to run, no place to rest.
I'm probably going to die here.
Damn, damn, damn.
I mustered my strength and went outside the small room.
Go back. Do you want to die?
No. Going back would be the same.
Monsters will eventually spawn in the small room too.
I can't beat them anyway.
That's right.
This is my grave.
I stumbled forward.
I should have bought an MP recovery potion at the guild.
I'm such a fool for not even realizing that.
Dying a miserable death is the best I can hope for.
A Needlewood appeared in the depths of the cave.
Run.
There's still time.
I can probably run into the small room from before.
No. It's too late.
There's no way I can make it.
While hesitating, the Needlewood approached.
I swung Durandal almost unconsciously.
Survival instinct? Or a reflex from continuous combat?
The tip of Durandal caught the monster.
I slashed the Needlewood from the side.
Even in this state, I can still take it down with one strike.
My attack power hasn't changed, even though I'm depressed.
Of course, it makes sense.
I slumped my shoulders and took a deep breath.
It was tough.
My MP seems to have recovered somewhat, even if not fully.
The pessimism from before has faded like a mist.
It was close.
Really close.
I've never been more depressed.
This must be the terror of having zero MP.
I never want to experience this again.
It's okay. I can do it if I try.
I told myself.
Looking around again, a leaf remained as if to celebrate my recovery.
I hunted three more Needlewoods to build up my MP.
The initial pessimism had vanished like a lie.
I set my job.
Mage Level 1
Effect: Slight increase in Intelligence, slight increase in MP
Skills: Basic Fire Magic, Basic Water Magic, Basic Wind Magic, Basic Earth Magic
There it is.
It's there, but...
Basic Fire Magic? Isn't that a bit unhelpful?
Can I even use it?
I replaced the Swordman Level 2 from the Force Job with the Mage Level 1.
I moved to the second floor.
I might not have an area-of-effect spell yet, but if I avoid dead ends where hidden rooms might be, the second floor should be fine.
While walking through the dungeon, I chanted Basic Fire Magic.
Nothing happened.
Fire, flame, fireball, fire magic, fire, fireball.
As I chanted various things, the ceiling suddenly lit up.
Looking up, a ball of fire had formed.
Oh!
This is it.
Fireball, I guess.
The ball of fire flew forward.
Success.
I finally obtained a spell.
I watched the fireball fly.
Being able to use real magic is an indescribable thrill.
I created that fireball.
I'm overwhelmed by the wonder of this world.
I could use teleportation and space magic before, but fire magic is something special.
Being able to create a natural phenomenon with my own power is truly remarkable.
Even the lowest point can become a good memory in the end.
Compared to being able to use magic, it's nothing.
The fireball illuminated the dark cave in red and eventually disappeared.
I indulged in the joy of becoming a mage for a while.
Nothing has really changed. I'm still me.
But the fact that I can use magic is real.
I defeated the next Green Caterpillar with Durandal to recover MP.
I tried using Fireball on the next Needlewood.
The wooden monster was engulfed in flames.
Oh!
Amazing.
Magic is impressive.
The fire eventually died down.
I couldn't defeat it in one hit.
The monster approached, emitting smoky fumes.
Well, it's a basic spell, and my level is low. Maybe the damage is making it move more slowly.
I swung Durandal at the approaching Needlewood and easily cut it down with one strike.
If Basic Fire Magic is Fireball, then Basic Water Magic should be Waterball.
I hunted another monster with Durandal and then chanted Waterball.
A ball of water formed above my head and flew forward.
This is water magic.
I hunted a Green Caterpillar to recover MP and then used Waterball on the next Needlewood.
The monster was momentarily stunned by the force of the water ball but quickly recovered and approached.
There were no signs of damage.
I waited and struck it with Durandal.
Since Needlewoods are plant monsters, fire magic might be more effective than water magic.
That's something to research.
Next is wind magic.
Wind should be Windball, right?
I chanted Windball, but nothing happened.
Wind Arrow, Windstorm, Wind Cutter...
None of them worked.
Since Fire Magic is Fireball and Water Magic is Waterball, Wind Magic should be something like Ball too.
