Shi Sheng and Ming Jin stood at the side, talking about irrelevant matters. Meanwhile, Yuwen Xun had already been escorted out of the chamber.
Shi Sheng heard that Yuwen Xun had escaped, causing Zhuang-fu to place the city under lockdown and order his men to comb the place for Yuwen Xun. Naturally, they werenât successful.
âDo you think theyâre villains whoâs IQs arenât online? You think itâd be that easy for you to find them?â
After Zhuang-fu finished busying himself with all this, he wanted to look for Shi Sheng, but found that she had disappeared.
He heard from his subordinates that sheâd already returned to Star-Plucking Tower, so Zhuang-fu could only give up on his plans have a talk with her. His first priority was to get control over everyone in the imperial palace.
Shi Sheng returned to Star-Plucking Tower on her own. The show today had been quite interestingâshe needed some time to relax.
Star-Plucking Tower was shrouded in darkness. Shi Sheng climbed into her room through the window, noticing the faint smell of blood inside.
There was a human figure standing next to the door.
It was clear that they hadnât been expecting her to come in through the window instead of the door, for they stood stunned in place for a moment.
Shi Sheng calmly took out a lighter.
Lu Ruo was standing by the side of the door, a bloodstained sword in her hands. Yuwen Xun was situated in a corner, most likely injured.
âYouâŠâ Lu Ruo was dumbfounded. âWhy did she come in through the window instead of the door?â
âI what?â Shi Sheng looked at Yuwen Xun whose current state of health was unknown. âYou guys sure know how to pick a place.â
âEven nullifying all the talismans I pasted, really now.â
Lu Ruo rushed over to stand in front of Yuwen Xun, shielding him behind her. âZhuang Qiong, even if youâre the daughter of the Third Prince, youâre a womanâyou canât be the Emperor.â
âYouâre discriminating against women?â Shi Sheng raised an eyebrow.
âIâm not, thatâs not what I meant, IâŠâ Lu Ruo didnât even know what to say at this point.
Shi Sheng retreated back towards the window.
âZhuang Qiong, what are you doing?!â Lu Ruo shouted nervously.
Shi Sheng revealed a slight smile. âTo get people to capture you, of course.â
And Shi Sheng was true to her word. Sheâd even helped them tie Lu Ruo up.
Zhuang-fu personally led his men over. When he saw Yuwen Xun and Lu Ruo whoâd been tied up so thoroughly they looked like a pair of dumplings, he couldnât help but give Shi Sheng an odd look.
The target of his gaze was currently sitting beside a table, idly drinking tea.
âXiaoâqiongââ
Shi Sheng waved. âAs long as you kill them, Iâll thank you a lot. As for the rest, donât talk to me. Iâm not interested in the throne. You guys just do whatever.â
Zhuang-fu, ââŠâ
Lu Ruoâs glared at Shi Sheng with red-rimmed eyes. âShe actually wants to kill us!â
Zhuang-fu hesitated inwardly, not knowing what this daughter who heâd raised from young was thinking anymore. âShe hasnât shown any odd behaviour after finding out about her true parentage. This isnât how a normal person should react.â
Zhuang-fu examined Shi Sheng for a while, before finally leading his men away.
Once theyâd left, Shi Sheng set her tea cup down before heading downstairs to paste new talismans.
While she was pasting the talismans, Shi Sheng suddenly thought of something. âThen howâd that idiot Ming Jin get in? Donât tell me he also has an âignoreâ buff like the leads? Scary.â
Since the previous room now had the stench of blood, Shi Sheng switched rooms.
Shi Sheng didnât light any lamps, making her way straight towards the bed. Halfway there, she suddenly paused. âThereâs someone on the bed?â
âMing Jin!â Shi Sheng squeezed out a name from between gritted teeth.
The person addressed propped himself up from his lying position on the bed, causing the blanket to slide down, revealing his bare arm and chest.
Shi Sheng, ââŠâ âMy eyes.â
Ming Jin twirled a strand of his hair. âMiss Zhuang, the night is longâwhy donât we occupy our time with pleasure?â
âGo fuck a dog. This idiotâs actually seducing me. And now of all times.â
Seeing Shi Sheng remain still, Ming Jin tossed the covers away and got off the bed. Fortunately he hadnât gone completely nudeâhe was still wearing pants.
He walked over to Shi Sheng on bare feet and swiftly pulled her into his arms. The chest her cheek was pressed against was warm, his heart pounding forcefully within.
âHeâs Feng Ci.â Shi Shengâs hands clenched into fists. Liking him meant accepting everything about him.
âNo! Not in my case.â
âI can feel that you like me.â Ming Jin simply held her, his voice sounding rather down. âSo why wonât you accept me?â
Why? Because he hid his malice under a glamourous exterior. Youâd never know what was underneath unless you opened it up.
But once you didâŠwhat was lurking underneath might be a nightmarish abyss. Sheâd much rather he was open about his malice.
âBecause youâre the type of person I detest the most.â Shi Sheng spoke with emphasis.
Ming Jin was stunned for a moment. âBut you like me ah!â
She wasnât completely unattracted to him. Though he didnât know what was going through her mind, he knew she liked him.
âYes, I like you, but that doesnât stop me from not accepting you.â Shi Sheng pushed Ming Jin away. âIf you could become the type of person I like, Iâd accept you.â
âWhat type of person do you like?â Ming Jin asked in all seriousness.
âI likeâŠwell, regardless, you donât stand a chance.â âThis guyâs personality is already set in stone, no way itâs changing.â
Ming Jin frowned slightly. He suddenly grabbed Shi Shengâs wrist and pulled her into his arms. âZhuang Qiong, Iâve already told you: donât even think about running from me this life.â
He rained kisses down on her, catching Shi Sheng off guard. He knew all of Shi Shengâs moves by now, so he kept her hands hostage as he tossed her onto the bed. He roughly pulled off her clothes and thrust into her without giving her time to catch her breath.
Shi Sheng curled up in pain, causing Ming Jinâs mind to clear. The person lying beneath him was biting her lip lightly and looking at him with that calm gaze.
That caused Ming Jin to panic and, for the first time, to feel at a loss.
âIâm sorry, IâŠâ Ming Jin hugged Shi Sheng. âI got angry. Iâm sorry.â
âNow you know why I detest you?â Shi Sheng spoke calmly.
Ming Jin froze. A moment later, he pulled out and covered her up with the blanket. âIâm sorry.â
He got dressed and left.
[Host, why?] Systemâs voice appeared.
Shi Sheng remained unmoving, her gaze staring off into space. After a good long while, her lips tugged upwards, âJust treat it as pickiness.â
[But you never cared about othersâ personality beforeâŠ]
âItâs not the same.â Shi Sheng sat up. âI never planned on getting involved, so it was none of my business what they were like.â
[Host, donât you think itâs too extreme for you to force someone to conform to your tastes?]
âI never wanted him to conform to my tastes, I justâŠâ Shi Sheng paused. âCanât accept him for now.â
[And if this is Feng Ciâs true nature?]
Shi Sheng laid back down. âThen itâs impossible between us.â
System fell silent. This wasnât the first time it knew that its Host had a problem. It felt a brief moment of pity for Feng Ci for meeting such a cold, logical, and heartless woman.
âMaster, why can you see through her so well but I canât read her at all?â
