Chapter 59: Making Medicine (2)
The next day, Mi Wan finished her one-hour exercise routine before having breakfast in the dining room. Auntie Zheng had finished making her breakfast and was upstairs tidying her bedroom.
“Auntie Zheng, don’t pour out the stuff in the thermos cup in my bedroom.” Seeing Auntie Zhang go upstairs, Mi Wan could not help but warn. At home, Auntie Zhang would never allow her to consume anything that was left overnight, so she had to remind her about the thermos cup, or Auntie would have thrown it away without notifying her.
“Young Miss, did you bring that thermos cup home yesterday?” Since she was the one responsible for cleaning Mi Wan’s room every day, she knew just about everything there was in the room.
“Mmhmm.” Mi Wan answered.
“Then Young Miss, where did you put the last two glass cups?” Speaking of the cups, Auntie Zhang was suddenly reminded that the room was missing two glass cups.
“Oh, those cups. I gave them away.”
“Oh, you gave them away.” Auntie Zhang muttered but did not ask any further as she continued to clean the upper floor.
After finishing breakfast, Mi Wan brought the cat to school. The moment she passed the gates, she went straight to the small forest beside her school building, where Guan Li was waiting all bright and early. Guan Li seemed to have recovered a bit, his demonic energy had stabilized, so Blondie did not tag along.
“Mew~~” (Big brother.)
Seeing Guan Li, the little cat demon could not help but pounce towards him. Guan Li caught her easily and after a few loving pats, he turned to look at Mi Wan and eagerly waited for the other party’s answer after considering it for a night.
“Senior sis, have you considered it?” Guan Li carefully asked.
“I’m not taking her in.” Mi Wan answered directly.
“Then…I’m still grateful for all your help.” Guan Li looked crestfallen and disappointed, but instead of begging or pressuring Mi Wan further, he held the kitten close for a few minutes before turning quietly to leave.
Seeing that Guan Li was not making a fuss, Mi Wan had an even better impression of him.
“Wait.”
Hearing Mi Wan calling him, Guan Li abruptly turned with a hopeful look, thinking that Mi Wan had changed her mind and decided to take in his younger sister.
“Don’t misunderstand, I’m still not taking her in.” Perhaps it was due to Guan Li’s overly eager look, but Mi Wan could not help but reject him again.
“So… You told me to wait because?” Guan Li had pretty good self-restraint and was able to handle the consecutive rejections without changing his attitude towards Mi Wan.
“I heard…your family is rich?”
“Our family owns a jewelry store, so it can be considered a small business,” Guan Li replied.
“If there was a way to heal your younger sister, how much would you be willing to pay?” Mi Wan asked.
“If there were such a way, I don’t care if I have to bankrupt the family.” Guan Li sighed. Pity, it doesn’t exist in this world.
“Mew~~” The little cat demon noticed her older brother was depressed again and made a sound to comfort him.
“So generous? You might agree with bankruptcy but your family won’t.” Mi Wan only wanted to know how determined Guan Li was, but not to the point of bankrupting his family, “I heard there’s a prized treasure in your family’s store, just bring that to me.”
“I’m sorry, senior sis, the store’s prized treasure was designed by my grandfather, it cannot be sold, if you wish to…” Guan Li suddenly stopped talking, as if he realized something. He looked at Mi Wan incredulously, his lips trembled emotionally, “You…You’re saying…”
“Oh, so you can’t give me the store’s treasure…”
“I CAN!”
Guan Li immediately refuted the remainder of Mi Wan’s words.
“I can, I can, senior sis, as long as you can heal Tongtong, I will immediately bring you the store’s prized treasure. But… Do you really have a way to cure Tongtong?” Guan Li was afraid he had heard wrong and could not help but reaffirm once.
“Relax, if I can’t cure her, I won’t take your money.”
This was not about money, he would even increase the payment if there was a cure. But since Guan Li asked, Mi Wan could only reply, “Let me take Tongtong back tonight, and we’ll know by tomorrow.”
After negotiating this 30 million deal, Mi Wan returned to class.
The morning was filled with classes and since the teacher had consecutively assigned two homework assignments she was afraid of napping in class. After forcing herself to listen through two periods of class in a foggy haze, Mi Wan was surprised to find herself understanding about 3/4th of it.
I just realized that I’m still really smart. Mi Wan could not help but praise herself a little and went to eat happily. After her meal, she went straight to the place where she agreed to meet Blondie. There was still a million yuan transaction to be made.
Time to teach someone how to draw a demon tracker.
As discussed yesterday, demon tracker talismans were not difficult to draw. As long as the demon hunter grasped the proper sequence of pen strokes, and infused the right amount of spiritual energy, any one of them could draw a perfect demon tracker talisman.
In this society, children who were good enough to be admitted to college had all undergone some sort of gruelling study session, so after copying the pen strokes of the demon hunter tracker 3 times, Blondie had it all memorized. He only had difficulty infusing his spiritual energy at the end and had to rely on Mi Wan to guide him for another half an hour.
Once Blondie successfully learned how to draw a demon tracker, she was given the 500,000 yuan deposit on the spot. After reminding Blondie about the remaining amount, Mi Wan took her school back and went shopping. She agreed to meet Guan Li at 5 PM by the school gates to take Guan Tong. There were 3 hours left before the agreed-upon time, so Mi Wan went wandering around the market, found a milk tea shop, and decided to pass the time there by watching a movie on her phone.
Not 10 minutes after she sat down, Mi Wan suddenly received a call from the sparrow spirit telling her that Ji Jingjing had accumulated another 10 eggs for her, so Mi Wan sent him her GPS coordinates.
The sparrow spirit seemed to be nearby and said he would be there in 10 minutes before hanging up.
After 10 minutes, a brand new luxury car stopped outside the milk tea shop. The sparrow spirit wearing a leather jacket stepped out of the car with a basket in hand.
“Master.” Seeing Mi Wan, the sparrow spirit immediately came forward.
“Not bad for a car, are you rich now?” Mi Wan asked.
“No, my brother-in-law gave this to me, all thanks to Master’s goodwill.” The sparrow spirit smiled flatteringly. Were it not for his wealthy brother-in-law, how would he afford this type of car with his measly wage of a few thousand yuan a month?
Mi Wan smiled and accepted the basket from the sparrow spirit and set it aside without counting it.
“Master, you asked me to meet you in this place… does that mean you go to school here?” The sparrow spirit asked cleverly.
“Yup, I go to H University.”
“What great talent.” The sparrow spirit swiftly praised.
“Cut the brown-nosing, what do you want?” At the end of all this flattering, he must have a request.
“Hehe… It’s like this. I have a few friends who also have a bit of an issue with transformation. Is the Master free? Of course…the cost can be easily negotiated,” The sparrow spirit replied.
“I’m a little busy lately, give me a bit of time.” Mi Wan did not agree immediately. She would need to spend the next few days treating the little cat demon. The little cat demon had been greatly contaminated by demonic poisoning, so treating it would require a large amount of spiritual energy. In the short term, she probably would not have the energy to entertain other business deals.
“Then when would you be free?” the sparrow spirit asked.
“Let’s talk next month.” After treating the little cat demon, she still had to complete the teacher’s assignments, as well as complete a research assignment on soil science so she would be really busy.
“Okay, then I’ll contact you again next month.” Though the sparrow spirit was slightly disappointed, it was merely a month. Those demons had waited for decades for treatment, one more month would not make a difference.
Mi Wan stayed in the milk tea shop until 5 PM before walking towards the school gates. From a distance, she could see Guan Li already waiting by the entrance. She met Guan Li’s hesitating gaze and without giving him an affirmative answer, took the small cat demon, while leaving the words, ‘see you tomorrow,’ before departing. Before she got into the car, she could hear Guan Li’s shout from far away.
“Senior sis, tomorrow, I will definitely bring the Soul of the Cat Eye.”
“Your brother really cares about you.” Mi Wan smiled and looked down at the little calico cat in her arms.
“Mew~~” (Big brother is the best.)
When they got home, the first thing Mi Wan did was get the little cat demon to finish drinking all of the medicine in the thermos cup. After the little cat demon finished her medicine, it made a meowing sound of comfort and went into a deep sleep. Mi Wan guarded by the side and checked on the little cat demon’s condition and every once in a while used her spiritual energy to stop the demonic poisoning from further corrosion until she could see black spots around the demonic source showing signs of retreating.
That meant success.
Mi Wan immediately got up and opened the window and habitually threw a cup over.
“Can’t you use a different method to knock on my door?” Fan Chen helplessly placed the cup back in his house.
“I didn’t want to use this method, but can you blame me for not having your phone number?”
Fan Chen did not reply and asked instead, “Did the medicine work?”
Since she came to him after making the medicine yesterday, there shouldn’t be anything else to talk about other than the medicine’s effectiveness.
“Correct. The medicine was cultivated successfully. I’ll be treating the little cat demon in a bit.” Mi Wan nodded admirably.
“That’s good.” Fan Chen’s tone had a hint of joy.
“Then…” Mi Wan decided to greet him, “I might overuse my spiritual energy, so I wanted to say hello to you beforehand.”
“Understood.” Fan Chen nodded understandingly.
With everything prepared, Mi Wan ran back to lock her bedroom door before she began treating the little cat demon. As expected, the demonic poisoning on the little cat demon was extremely severe. After exhausting all of her energy on the treatment, her spirit could not withstand the undue burden and floated away next door.
Fan Chen seemed to have been waiting for her all this time. When Mi Wan floated towards him, he had been reading a book under the light. Seeing her come over, he gave a small frown and said, “Don’t push yourself too hard.”
Then he sent her back once more.
After returning to her body, Mi Wan was beyond exhausted, and she passed out before she could regain consciousness. The next day, she was woken up by Auntie Zhang’s knocking. Right before her eyes, was the face of a young girl who looked about 6 to 7 years old, with a pair of powdery pink ears, and an extremely cute round face.
