Hi Guys
So, with this chapter, RTD has officially done a quarter of Slave Harem. Thereâs 212 chapters total at the moment, and we picked it up after the first 5 đ
To celebrate, Iâll put up all my Slave Harem pics in a post some time on the weekend so keep an eye out for it. I would have posted them earlier, but some hadnât happened in the story yet until Sherryâs bath scene, but thereâs no spoilers among them anymore.
Also, Rumanshi has been writing something heâd like feedback on. Iâll put a link at the bottom of the chapter so you can read SH first đ
Eighth floor.
We passed the seventh floor, and moved on to the eighth floor of Quratarâs labyrinth.
âDo you know which demon appears on the eighth floor here?â
I asked Sherry.
âUm, Iâm not sure. I donât know where we are.â\n
âAh, we are in Quratarâs Labyrinth.â\n
âQuratarâs Labyrinth?â\n
âDidnât I mention it?â
Is that so?
âHe probably did. I saw that the demons were the same as Quratarâs Labyrinth, but we didnât pay any money to get it. Is that because of the space-time magic? If thatâs so, we donât pay.â
Sherry mutters.\n
Though itâs required to pay money to enter Quratarâs Labyrinth, I donât pay.\n
Is that why you didnât think it was Quratarâs Labyrinth?\n
The genius didnât notice?
âIs it bad that we didnât pay?â\n
âNo. Itâs expected that the entrance fee is paid when you enter Quratarâs Labyrinth, but you arenât using the entrance so itâs wise not to pay. Thatâs what I think.â
I donât want the explorer there to notice me either.\n
Itâs good.
âAs expected of Master.â
Roxanne praises me, but Roxanne was the first to suggest it.
âSo, do you know the demon on Quratarâs eighth floor?â\n
âAh. Yes. The demon on the eighth floor of Quratarâs Labyrinth is the Needle Wood. It should be safe since weâve fought them in Valeâs Labyrinth. It can rarely use water magic. Donât use water magic on it because it has a high resistance to water.â
Sherry explained.\n
It seems I still shouldnât use water magic against Needle Woods.
âIâve never seen one use magic.â\n
âItâs because itâs on a low floor in Valeâs Labyrinth, it wonât use it on lower floors.â\n
âIs that so?â\n
âDemons start to practice magic and skills as you go up in floors. I think the Needle Wood might start to rarely use magic on the eighth floor.â
On higher floors, monster level is also higher.\n
Since level goes up, magic and skills also go up.
âI understand. Youâve been useful again Sherry.â\n
âThank you.â\n
âI will continue to ask in the future. Roxanne, find a few demons.â\n
âCertainly.â
Should I equip Durandal to deal with the magic?\n
If I use it straight away, I wonât know which magic it is.\n
Should I wait and see?
For the time being, Iâll leave Sherry as Explorer Lv10.\n
Itâs possible that magic might one-shot a Master Smith Lv1.
We hunt on the eighth floor.\n
However, the Needle Woodâs donât use magic.\n
It seems to be quite uncommon.
Iâm impatient, and change Sherryâs job to Master Smith Lv1.\n
Explorer has gone up to Lv11.\n
It would probably go up to Lv12 if I left it.\n
The first magic happens when a group of four Needle Woods appear.
Three Needle Woods come forward as I use [Fire Storm].\n
One slows down & turns around.\n
Needle Woods are plant demons that swing their branches around.\n
The cave in the Labyrinth might be too narrow for four to line up.
âRoxanne, handle two. Sherry, handle one.â
Three [Fire Storm] are used as they come forward.\n
A fourth is used as they face the vanguards.
âItâs coming.â
Roxanne gives a warning.\n
When I look, thereâs a blue ball over the demonâs head.\n
It looks like a [Water Ball].
The Needle Wood launches the magic.\n
Itâs fast.
Itâs straight & fast like Water Polo.\n
Towards Roxanne.
Roxanne twists her upper body just a little.\n
The magic is avoided just by twisting.\n
It passes just beside her.\n
The magic hits the wall after doing nothing.
You can dodge it?\n
It seems that itâs not at a speed where it canât be avoided.
I used a fifth [Fire Storm].\n
The sparks dance & attack the demons.\n
All four of the Needle Woodâs fall.
âAs expected of Roxanne, you can dodge magic.â\n
âItâs because it was shot from the second row of demons. If you can see magic at that distance you can avoid it.â
No. Itâs impossible.\n
Thereâs not enough room.\n
Thereâs not enough distance.
âIs that so?â\n
âIt made use of the other demons as distractions, it probably didnât think it would hit otherwise.â
I donât think itâs possible.\n
As Sherry passes me the item she picked up I ask her what she thinks with my eyes. She silently shakes her head.
âThatâs how it is.â\n
âThatâs how what is?â
Roxanne asks.
âAh. The branch. Itâs needed for smithing. Weâll have to keep some instead of selling them.â\n
âAh, yes. We need that.â
I managed to get through the conversation somehow.\n
The items dropped are one leaf, and three branches.
âThat reminds me, how do you use the branch?â
I heard that a Master Smith uses branches when I was in Vale.\n
I was told it was a necessary item for them.
âWhen making the metal parts of weapons and armor, a branch is used along with the materials.â
It seems to be necessary for processing metals.\n
Itâs a requirement.
âDo you need a furnace as well?â\n
âEverything is done by the skill. No special devices are necessary.â
If you get the items then the skill will do the rest.
After that, we didnât encounter many Needle Woods that used magic.\n
I worried about the level of Sherryâs job, and before realized, it increased from Lv1 to Lv2.\n
Weâll continue as is for now.
It isnât a requirement for a Needle Wood to be in the back row for it to use magic.\n
We encountered two Needle Woodâs and a Slow Rabbit, and one of them used it.
âItâs coming.â
Roxanne gives a warning as a blue magic formation appears below a Needle Wood.\n
The ball of water appears over the demons head and flies forward.\n
At me.
âGah.â
Iâm hit without a chance to avoid it.\n
Evasion is impossible.\n
Itâs really impossible.\n
Itâs absolutely impossible.
In my head I can understand when to avoid it, but do I dodge right or left? It hits me before I can think.
Enough time to evade it.\n
There isnât.
Even though I have [Plating] and I donât die in a single shot, it still feels quite strong.\n
Itâs a feeling like Iâve had my leg torn off.\n
Also, Iâm soaked because it was water.\n
Itâs probably better than being hit by fire though.
Even though we killed the demon with the fifth [Fire Storm], the water didnât disappear.\n
The Green Caterpillar thread disappeared, but this doesnât.\n
Since I was struck in the leg, it looks like I wet myself.\n
Itâs not very bright in the Labyrinth, so Iâll just try not to stand out.
The water dries before we leave the Labyrinth.\n
We finish up in a small room, and find a magic crystal.\n
The magic crystal is useful, so we put it in the rucksack.
âItâs finally dry.â\n
âThings that use magic will disappear when magic runs out, but things made with magic will remain even after the magic has ended. A demons body is conjured by magic, but itâs assumed that part of it is fully made since it drops items.â
Sherry explains.\n
Itâs a little hard to understand.
âHmm.â\n
âOh.â
When I move a magic crystal over to the item box, Sherry lets out a noise.
âWhat?â\n
âOh, itâs nothing. I just noticed the purple magic crystal became a blue magic crystal.â
Ah, because the crystal had progressed.\n
The blue magic crystal has the magic from 1000 demons stored in it.
âMine is purple.â
Roxanne passes over a purple magic crystal.\n
We used this crystal for a test, and itâs become purple.\n
Sherry has one as well, and itâs become red.
âWasnât there a purple crystal and two black crystals yesterday?â\n
Sherry looks a bit doubtful, but doesnât have cold eyes.
After breakfast, we go to the Imperial Capital.
âWow, Itâs huge.â
When we leave the adventurers guild in the Imperial Capital, Sherry looks around at the nearby buildings.\n
It doesnât seem that big to me.
âIs this your first time in the Imperial Capital, Sherry?â\n
âYes.â
A country bumpkin.
âRoxanne and I came here recently for the first time as well.â\n
âWe did.â
Roxanne nods as I turn to her.
âYou wonât normally come here without some kind of business.â\n
âIs that so?â
There doesnât seem to be the concept of sight seeing in this world yet.\n
As Sherry says, a commoner wonât need to come to the Imperial Capital.\n
Even though itâs so easy to travel around if you find an adventurer with [Field Walk].\n
Ordinary people just donât have the spirit of adventure.
âIâve wanted to come here for a long time.â
Sherry mutters quietly.
âHmm?â\n
âAh, oh, nothing.â\n
âWhat did you want to do?â
I was curious, so I tried to ask.
âWell, thereâs a library in the Imperial Capital. Iâve wanted to go there for so long.â\n
âThereâs a library?â
To want to visit the library. As expected of the smart one.
âWe had ten books at our house growing up, but they were only dwarven books related to smithing.â
Iâm not sure if ten is a large or small amount.\n
Paper is valuable in this world.\n
Thereâs probably not many houses with any books.\n
Is Sherry from a wealthy family?
Then I donât know why she became a slave.\n
She said it was while growing up.\n
Perhaps the family fell into ruin.\n
I wonât touch that subject.
âItâs amazing that your house had books.â
Roxanne doesnât think about it?\n
Sheâs just being herself.
âItâs an old story. We were quite prosperous when my grandfather was alive.â\n
âI see, and you became knowledgeable reading books?â
I try to return to the original story.\n
We shouldnât continue on this topic.
âWe had them in the house since long ago.â\n
âI always wanted to become a Master Smith.â\n
âI did my best and entered the Labyrinth when I became an explorer.â
I suspect she was a wealthy young lady that stayed indoors.\n
Is that why her villager level was so low?
âIâve liked books since long ago, so I wanted to go to the Library.â\n
âAhh.â\n
âShall we go now?â
I donât have any books either.\n
Well, if you can call the capture map of Quratarâs Labyrinth a book, then I have one.
âEh? But Iâm a slave now.â\n
âWell⊠Iâd like to goâŠâ\n
âBut I canât go.â
Is there a problem?\n
It might have been a wise choice not to mention it from the start.
âIf youâre a slave, you canât use the Library?â\n
âThatâs not it. If you pay, you can go in. But itâs an extremely high price.â\n
âItâs high?â\n
âAside from admission fees, there is also a deposit. You can get the deposit back if you donât damage any books, but you need one gold coin.â
Itâs to protect their valuable books.\n
Itâs reasonable.\n
Strange people wonât go in because they donât want to lose their deposit.\n
You can make up for problems with money.
âI see, well Iâll let Sherry go into the Library.â\n
âWhat?â\n
âWell, Sherry teaches things about demons. If you donât know something, you can learn it. Iâll let you go to the Library that youâve wanted to visit.â
If I donât know something, Sherry can learn about it.\n
Itâs a good idea.\n
Anyway, Iâve been skipping learning to read characters from Roxanne lately.
I wasnât good at learning English either.\n
On top of my Japanese, I hope youâll forgive me for not learning English or Brahim.\n
I really envy Schliemann TN: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinrich_Schliemann
âAh, Thank you.â\n
âOh, can you read Brahim Sherry?â\n
âYes. I learnt to read it in the Slave Traders establishment because the characters are the same.â
I see.\n
If you understand the alphabet itâs possible to read English, German & French, even if you canât understand it.\n
It must be something similar.
âThe books that you had in your house werenât written in Brahim?â\n
âThey were written in the dwarven language because they were related to smithing.â\n
âSherry is amazing, though I learnt the characters in the Slave Traders establishment as well.â\n
âRoxanne, was there anywhere you wanted to go?â
I looked to her side and asked.
âNo, not really.â\n
âI see.â\n
âOh, that. Can I go with you?â
Roxanne watches my eyes.
âTo where Iâd like to go?â\n
âYes. Wherever Master wants to go, I want to go. Can you take me with you?â
Sheâs trying to be modest.\n
I pat her dog ears on reflex.\n
Roxanne is still the best.
âI understand. Thatâs fine.â\n
âOkay.â\n
âAh, I want to come along as well.â
Sherry asks as well.\n
It feels like Iâve been pushed into it.
