Me and Gaston walked back to the Adventurerās Support Center, side by side with the two of us.
In the corner of the hall where the receptionistās office was located, Mea was being entangled by Gastonās cronies.
āKikhihihihi, that kid is going to die, huh? Thereās no one in this town whoās ever been safe from challenging Brother Gaston after all.ā
āOh, I wish you hadnāt been so cunning in the first place. If youād gotten down on our knees right then and there, it wouldnāt have gotten as bad as this. This is what happens when a kid has the witlessness to do something stupid. Kahhaha! Thereās nothing like watching a guy whoās on top of his game go down!ā
āHihihi, girl, looking at you closely youāre pretty good looking. If you become my girl, I donāt mind asking Brother Gaston to spare his life, if thatās all right with you. Hihiā¦ā¦ā
He is ranting one-sidedly against Mea, who is too scared to argue properly.
Mea half cried out in a whisper, āA, Abel, Is so strongā¦ā¦ itās trueā¦ā¦ā
Everyone else just watched from a distance. They must be afraid of Gaston.
I went alone to keep the conversation from sulking, but I guess it was a bad idea to leave Mea behind.
āHey, hey you guysā¦ā
Before I could run up to him, Gaston staggered up to me with a large gait.
His face was bright red and his eyes were filled with rage.
āYou guyssss! What the hell are you doing!ā
āAh, Brother Gaston, youāre back. Kihihi, howās that kid-ā¦ā¦ huh, he looks okay?ā
Gaston grabs his crony, a tall, skinny, skinny manās chest and lifts him up, pushing him against the wall.
āGagh! Gaga-, brother Gaston!ā
āYou guys, arenāt you be ashamed of yourselves for wasting your time on peopleās accomplishments!ā
Gaston puts his face close to the man and opens his big mouth to yell at him.
ā ā āEeeehhhhhhh!?ā ā ā
Three of Gastonās cronies shouted at the same time.
āHey, wait, brother Gaston! What happened? Really, what happened?ā
āThereās nothing to it!ā
āThere is! What youāre saying has changed a hundred and eighty degrees!ā
āBut and because, donāt talk back to me, itās irritating.ā
āHiih!?ā
It was a clean back-slap.
I think he was afraid that he was going to violate his contract with me.
Maybe he was pissed off because he felt like heād been undermined by a promotion that heād finally been able to seize.
It was not only his followers that questioned Gastonās sudden change of heart.
There are a number of onlookers who are also wondering about Gastonās change.
āH, hey, what happened?ā
āI, I donāt know, maybe got bought by money, right?ā
āThat little boy is really crafty. The āHead-eating black-fiendā must have a hidden agenda tooā¦ā
It doesnāt feel very good, but I guess I canāt blame them for sounding a little like this.
Iām going to be out of the spotlight sooner or later anyway, so let them say it.
ā¦ā¦ I was thinking about that, but Gaston didnāt seem to be so sure.
His eyes bloodshot and draws near towards the direction of the onlookers who had been gossiping.
āWhat are you guys whispering about? What, if you have something to say, say it out loud!ćIāll listen to you!ā
Newly, the area went quiet.
Gaston walked briskly and approached one of the men.
āWhat have you got behind this? Huh?ā
āā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā
āItās you, you! What are keeping quiet about, tell me! Donāt you dare pretend that you donāt know!ā
āHiiieee!ā
The designated man ran out of the Adventurerās Support Center.
āNext time anyone says anything unnecessary, Iām going to beat you! I hate people the most who feel like theyāre great by yapping from a safe zone! Whoever has a problem with that, talk! Iāll listen to you!ā
No one appeared to answer that.
Itās great to be a gadfly after all.
Theyāre extremely irritating when you turn it into an enemy, but as long as our goals are aligned, theyāre extremely useful.
It makes up for it nicely what I lack in intimidation.
It might have been a better pick-up than I thought.
āA, Abelā¦ā¦ what happened?ā
Mea asked me that as she watched Gaston change.
āIām sorry I left you behind. Are you okay?ā
āIt was a bit scary, but Iām okayā¦ā
āIāll explain about Gaston slowly later. For now, letās move on.ā
After taking Mea to rest, he explained the whole exchange he had with Gaston.
āā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ thatās how it is, next time Gaston will exchange the prey that we got to money.ā
āI, I seeā¦ā¦ Itās true that if we make a mess like this every time, your body wonāt be able to take it. Butā¦ā¦ For Abel, um, is this okay?ā
āI donāt even care about the rank that much after all.ā
The idea of making Mr.Mountain the worldās most famous sorcerer is said as a joke, but of course, the stability of everyday life and paying off the debt is the top priority.
I donāt need to weigh in.
āBut now, I canāt write a report anymore. I even wanted to write about how cool Abel wasā¦ā¦ā
I suppose youāre free to write differentlyā¦ā¦ but I know the feeling when you donāt have a place to present it in a big way.
āā¦ā¦ Ah, thatās right. Thatās the thing, though, Gaston canāt seem to write. Since the one who will fight is us, I thought it would be safer if we also prepare the report, since it would be less suspicious of the contents, and I took it on, butā¦ā¦ do you want to write the report?ā
āThe star of the show isā¦ā¦ um, that big guy, right?ā
āN, no, Iāll write it for you if you donāt want to, butā¦ā
I suggested it, and Iām sorry to say it, but if Mea write the Gastonās Adventure, horrible things might happen.
Itās easy to imagine Gaston, red in the face, throwing the report around.
āI, Iāll do it! Mea will write it! Mea decided that Mea will help Abel even a little bit of his work! Iāll look into how swordsmen fight and try to make it as unbroken as possible! Please leave it to me!
āR-Really? No, you donāt have to push yourself so hardā¦ā
Having said that much, I recall Gastonās words.
āYouāre planning to make me the laughing stock for not being able to read!ā
Yes, Gaston not only canāt write, he also canāt read.
If thatās the case, itās alright no matter what we write.
Itās not easy for you to mimic a person to check.
The Adventurerās Support Center also is not free of time to ask for a resubmission.
There are many uneducated adventurers from the start. Itās unlikely that theyāll be bothered by a single sentence format.
If you understand some of the content, that should be enough.
Mea seems to be struggling lately because thereās nothing she can do, and sheās willing to be counted on.
āOkay, Iām sorry, but Iāll leave it to Mea.ā
āYes! Yes! Iām going to write a report that makes people at the facility sweating their hands and making the paper swell up!ā
Iām worried about being overly enthusiastic, but⦠well, what happens, happens.
If you think itās bad, as expected, you can just interfere from the side.
