(TN-- less goo 3rd  cup of coffee)
Although I prepared myself for this, the stage seen from below and the scenery from above are different.  I could distinguish everyone’s faces more so than I imagined. Moreover, their faces looked curiousness and doubt at the unexpected sight.
---From now on I’m going to sing here.\nI took a deep breath and looked out over the hall again.\nThe scene I saw from 10 years ago came flooding back to me.
It’s the convention center at Civic hall.
It’s the place where grandma took me to.
I didn’t want to go. I didn’t know how good or badly I sang the folk song, but I knew that when I sang, people would look at me dubiously. One of them even said– [That’s Kogure’s grandchild you know….] , some people’s animosity were clear. But grandma just laughed off the gossip all by her self.
“Ye’ can do as ye’ please. There ain’t such thing as being good at it or bad, only whether you like to do it or not.”
I didn’t understand what she meant at the time.
I sang because I’ve been doing it since I was little.
I sang because it made grandma happy.
Nothing more, nothing less.
After grandma died, I quit singing folk songs and this scene faded into the dark.
But right now, the memory from that time and the scene here overlapped.\nGrandma’s words came rushing back to me.
“I can do as I please. No good, no bad. It all depends on whether I like to do it or not.”\nI whispered it out in a small voice.
It gave me courage. Inheriting my grandmother’s words, My emotions were lit on fire.
This place is a sea.\n It wasn’t a lake like how I’d always thought it was.
It’s a place that stretches on to the horizon. It’s a place filled with everything.
From hopes—
To dreams—
And even fears.
It’s different from the place I was withdrawn and locked up in.
Time to go.
With this anxiety and tension I could collapse but.
“…I-”
I should let it out by talking first so I can properly sing.
“I wasn’t supposed to stand here today but this and that happened so now I’m here to sing.”
The place started to buzz with noise.
The “Secret Guest” was an unknown girl, plus she was dressed in a maid outfit.
They wondered what was going on…and then a remark.
“I feel like an idiot for hiding away from singing even though I got this opportunity,…...”
Nanako beams a smile at the audience.
“So let’s just enjoy the finale of the school concert to its fullest!!”
A clear voice rang out, piercing the starry sky.\nThe lead guitarist sounds out a growl so the backup-band starts the prelude.
-------
“I think she overdid it a little too much…..oh well, it looks like she’s having the time of her life so that’s good”\nThe song was from an anime that had been airing until just a few days ago so many of the audience members resonated with the intro.
School festivals, surprise bands, costumes that have nothing to do with the performance.
By coincidence, since It happens that the situation was extremely close to that anime’s concert sequence, so she went out on a limb for the first song and went out with the same song by Aya Kurano.
Expectations were rising with the cheers growing louder and louder.
---And then.
Nanako’s singing voice rang out far and wide from the stage
(TN- ENDLESS EIGHT SURVIVORS SING WITH ME!! WATASHII TSUUITE IKU YO DOONNA TSURAI? SEKAI NO YAMI NO NAKA DE SAE KITTTOO~ ANATA WA KAGAYAITEEE—KOERU MIRAI NO HAA-TE  YOWAASE YUEEE NI TAMASHIIII-III KOWASARENU YOU NI MYY WAAAY KASANAARU YOO IMA FUTARI NI Goooodd bleeeesss…..*cough* that was the coffee talking *cough*)
Strictly speaking there are many areas where it could be improved upon. But even so, this wasn’t about whether she was out of tune or not, this was on a whole other level. She was just enjoyment personified with the voice she sings in as she happily bounces around the stage.
There were hundreds of strangers present seeing her here for the first time. Without a doubt, they were mesmerized.
“Thank youuuuuu!”\nAfter singing one song, Nanako waved her hand as she showed her gratitude to the audience.
Cheers like they were heaven-sent greeted her back. The people who had been skeptical of her at first had all become her fans in a few short minutes. “That’s what I’m talking about! Yup, you properly followed the stuff I taught you.”
Sugimoto fell in love with Nanako’s singing as he listened with joy from the bottom of his heart.
“Aren’t you pretty amazing…!?”
Tsurayuki listened to it with bliss with a smile from ear to ear.

The day after I made Nanako listen to her song that I tuned, I got right to it and took her to one of my seniors.
“Oh, Is she the girl I’ve heard about? Kogure-san nice to meet you! The name’s Sugimoto!”
The man who belonged to the Art Research Group and sang “Donguri Korokoro” who rolled down a slope during the welcoming party
“Ah, I-I’m Nanako…..you have such a large build.”\n“Haha, It’s cause I’m aiming for a job where I get paid to speak loudly!
Well, there’s also the fact that I simply eat too much! Wahahaha!”
“Nanako, Tsugimoto-san here is also a teacher who goes to elementary and junior high schools to teach singing.”\n“S-so he’s a real teacher….? Is it really ok for me to take lessons from him?”
“Leave it to me! Hashiba-kun gave me free reign on how to train you, so I want you to give me your best from now on!”
“….Yes sir?”\n“Well then Sugimoto-san I’ll leave Nanako in your care.”\n“Got ya! Let’s get started then Kogure-san!”\n“W-wait a minute Kyouya-kun! You’re leaving!? Don’t go!!”
“From now on, You’re going to work on acquiring relative pitch!”\n“Y-yes…..”\n“I’ll be playing a note on the piano, and you’re going to say [Ahhh-] at the same pitch”\n“Ok!”\n“Right then, this is the note!”\n“Ahhh-….!”\n“Yup, I get it now!”\n“Eh, what did you “get” from that!? ”\n“There’s power in your voice, it’s quite beautiful. But—I think it requires plenty of practice with guidance! Once again I’ll have you try your best till your lungs fall out!”\n“S-seriously!? I’m soooryyyyy….”\n\n
“*pant* ha…ha….I can’t run anymore…..”\n“Come on come, there’s only 3 more laps around the grounds to go!”\n“That’s *pant*…….Would running hot-bloodedly…..ha….. really…..make me a better singer….?”\n“I’m confident it does! If you don’t build up your stamina then your voice won’t come out!’\n“I-..I at least have some confidence with that regard.”\n“Laa---La La~~~~La La La La~~~~~~~~~~~”\n“E-eeek!”\n“You should say that you’re confident when you’re able to output at least that much! Hahahaha!”\n“Uwaah. Help me Kyouya~! This guy is definitely a monster!”\n\n
“Wahahah, Good! Good! Keep up with that tone, Kogure-san!”
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaa---------!! Aaaa---------------------…..*cough* *cough* uwuuuu~ I-is doing just this really ok….?
“Whether it’s ok or not would depend on your efforts, Kogure-san! Now then, again!”\n“Aaaaaaa-------, Aaaaaa-------------ack! M-my voice won’t come out anymore”\n“Alright! From the top try singing “Aaa—" again”\n“I-I just told you it’s too hard to say it out loud. Are you a demonnn?”\nAt first Nanako was a bit of a complainer. However practicing the basics, which consisted of just producing her voice and vocalizing sounds from the piano, helped to steadily correct her singing.
