In the morning, everyone gathered around the dining table.
Of course, Edin, Letia, Dash, Himika, and Enak were all there.
"School starts today, so I'll be coming here on weekends. I've already requested the repairs for the inn, so once they're done, we'll get a message here. Please take it easy until next week. If you need anything, ask the butler, Dalmecia."
Dalmecia bowed behind Cain.
Everyone nodded, but Enak still seemed sad that Cain was leaving. However, since Cain was a student, it couldn't be helped.
After finishing their meal and saying their goodbyes, Cain decided to directly transfer to the guild's office with Edin, as Edin had said it was fine to do so.
"Cain, I think we'll be going to Drinthur again soon. I'll count on you then."
With the transfer magic, it was possible to get there instantly, so the two-day journey by carriage, which was a real ordeal, was no longer necessary.
"If you keep doing that, you won't have time to go anywhere else."
After sharing a laugh, Cain transferred from the guild to the mansion.
Once back at the mansion, he changed into his uniform and headed to the academy.
While holidays were for resting, so much had happened in the territory that the academy had become Cain's primary place of rest. Even though it was still morning, he was already slumped over his desk, his arms stretched out in front of him, completely exhausted.
"So much happened over the weekend... I'm already tired."
"Cain, you look so exhausted..."
"Cain, you don't seem like a ten-year-old at all."
Theres and Silk were looking at him with concern, but he didn't have much energy left to respond. He raised his hand in acknowledgment and then slumped back over his desk.
Although he was in class, Cain was almost in a dream world. The material being taught was something he already understood, so there was no problem.
The teacher, who had been informed by Duke Eric, didn't seem to mind either.
Finally, the day's classes ended.
Cain had a meeting with the king scheduled next.
"Theres, I have a meeting with the king today. Could you give me a ride again?"
"Of course! I'm happy to be with Cain."
"Theres, you're so lucky. I'd like to ride in the carriage with Cain sometimes too."
"Once things calm down, let's go shopping in town!"
Noticing Silk's slightly sad face, Cain made a suggestion to both of them.
At that moment, their faces lit up with smiles.
"Absolutely! I'm looking forward to it."
"That sounds great. It's a promise."
Saying goodbye to Silk with a smile, Cain got into Theres's carriage and headed to the royal palace.
Upon arriving at the palace, he was led to the usual reception room and enjoyed the tea served by the maid.
"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting."
Magnus, the prime minister, and Galm, Cain's father, entered. Shortly after, the king entered the room.
"I've heard from Galm about the new administrator. Since there are no issues with his character, I've decided to appoint him as the new magistrate."
"He's already in the capital and should arrive soon. He should be fine."
While imagining the new magistrate, the four of them discussed the future plans.
The door was knocked on, and a maid brought in the new magistrate.
The person who entered the room was a young man with blue hair, not yet in his twenties.
Cain's eyes widened in surprise.
It was Galm's second son, Alec von Silford, who was eight years older than Cain and turning eighteen. He had the same blue hair as his father and was a slender, handsome young man. Originally, he had attended the academy to assist Jin and had chosen to study urban planning and administration in the internal affairs department.
Alec entered the room, straightened his posture, and bowed to the king and the prime minister.
"I am Alec von Silford, Galm's second son. Thank you for considering me for the position of magistrate."
"Yes, I think you'll do well. I expect you to keep Cain in check."
The king, while saying something unnecessary, gestured for Alec to sit down.
"Alec, isn't it? I heard you were going to assist Jin in Gracia."
"Yeah, Gracia is pretty calm, and there's not much to do. When my father mentioned this, I thought it would be a good opportunity to do some work, so I agreed right away."
Alec sat next to Cain, and the meeting resumed.
"Regarding the church, I expect a new priest to be dispatched by the bishop. An auditor will accompany him to review the past records."
Magnus, the prime minister, explained the situation with the church.
"Regarding the Adventurers' Guild, I went to Drinthur with the guild master, Edin, yesterday. A new sub-guild master and auditor will be sent from the capital. The guild master of Drinthur was unaware of the recent issues but will be held responsible. However, the punishment will be deferred, and the final decision will be based on future performance."
Cain explained the events of the previous day to the king and the others.
Everyone nodded in agreement with Cain's explanation.
"Excuse me, may I ask a question?"
Alec interjected.
"You're talking about yesterday and today, but Drinthur is a two-day carriage ride from the capital. It sounds very timely... Moreover, I accepted the position of magistrate, but I haven't heard the details. Did something happen in the town?"
Alec's words made everyone sigh.
"Alec, Cain is quite extraordinary. He has obtained the legendary teleportation magic and can travel between the capital and Drinthur instantly. Furthermore, as soon as he became the lord of Drinthur, he destroyed the guild's training ground, started a fight with the church, and took down the previous magistrate and the dark guild. Currently, over fifty people are being held in the guardhouse."
Galm explained the events to Alec, who looked increasingly incredulous as he listened, comparing Galm's and Cain's faces.
The king, the prime minister, and Galm all nodded in agreement with Galm's explanation.
"Such... I thought he was just a cute little brother, but he's done so much..."
Alec was clearly surprised by Cain's extraordinary actions.
"That's why I said earlier that I want you to keep Cain in check."
"I see..."
Alec nodded at the king's words. Cain, however, didn't understand what was so extraordinary. He thought he had just done the right thing. His actions were simply the result of trying to improve Drinthur as its lord.
"Don't call me a bundle of extraordinary actions! I just got rid of the bad guys!"
"NO WAY!!"
The king, Magnus, and Galm's voices overlapped.
Cain, who was unaware of his own extraordinary nature, slumped his shoulders in disappointment.
"By the way, Cain, will the town be safe while you're in the capital? The remnants of the dark guild might attack the lord's residence."
In response to the king's question, Cain didn't seem concerned.
"That won't be a problem. I've hired a powerful butler. I think even a hundred attackers wouldn't be an issue."
Everyone broke out in a cold sweat at Cain's matter-of-fact response. They were certain he was up to something.
Indeed, Cain had previously summoned a demon lord and made a contract with him.
"---Did you summon something again...?"
The king's cold voice pierced Cain's heart.
At that moment, Cain's eyes darted around. The king and the prime minister, who had been dealing with cunning nobles for years, immediately noticed his expression.
"Cain! You must have done something! Tell us the truth!!"
The king slammed his hands on the table and leaned in towards Cain.
Cain, feeling the cold stares from everyone, slumped his shoulders in resignation.
"The butler wasn't summoned by me. At first, I wanted to use Set, whom I have a contract with, as the bodyguard for the lord's residence, but he was busy. So, on Set's recommendation, I hired a retired general as the butler."
"You mentioned Set... Set is... the demon lord you contracted with before! You're using a former general of the demon lord's army as your butler!!"
Cain's words made the king even more confrontational.
The prime minister and Galm had already given up.
"How many times do I have to tell you not to do such extraordinary things!!"
The king's face turned red, and he finally sat down, exhausted.
"---That's enough. Do as you please in Drinthur. Talking to you seriously is tiring. I'm going to rest in my room..."
The king, with his shoulders slumped, left the room without a word.
Galm and the prime minister were holding their heads in their hands.
"Cain, I understand now how extraordinary you are after just one day."
Only Alec smiled brightly at Cain.
Thank you for reading.
I think the year-end parties on weekdays will settle down after a few more sessions.
I don't have much time to write, so daily updates may be difficult, but I aim to post at least three times a week.
Thank you for your continued support.
