Kain walked through the town and headed to the Adventurer's Guild.
The Adventurer's Guild was quiet, as it was midday.
Adventurers are usually out on missions during the day, so the busy times are in the morning and evening.
Kain found Leithia and called out to her from across the counter.
"Leithia, hello. Can I meet with Edin now?"
Leithia noticed Kain and smiled back.
"Master Kain, hello. The Guild Master is in his office today, so I'll check for you."
Leithia whispered something to the receptionist sitting next to her and disappeared into the back.
While waiting, Kain looked at the request board. Since it was the capital, there were more escort requests than monster hunts.
As he was searching for a monster hunt request, Leithia came to fetch him.
"Master Kain, the Guild Master will see you. I'll show you the way."
Leithia led Kain to Edin's office.
After knocking and hearing a voice from the other side of the door, Kain opened it and went in.
"Kain, what brings you here today?"
Kain sat on the sofa he was offered and explained the events of the previous days.
As the story progressed, wrinkles appeared on Edin's forehead, and his hands clenched tightly in anger.
"Kain, I'm sorry. I didn't realize it was that bad. I know Rikisetsu is straightforward, even if he's a bit thick-headed. I thought having an excellent deputy would be enough, but I never imagined the deputy would be corrupt..."
"That's why I came to ask if you could assign someone competent to help with the guild's recovery."
Kain didn't dislike Rikisetsu. He thought that with a competent assistant, Rikisetsu's straightforwardness wouldn't be a problem.
"Understood. I'll arrange someone from the capital's guild immediately. I'll go with you. This is not something I can tolerate as the Guild Master of the capital. We'll leave as soon as everything is ready."
Edin's face was serious, indicating how angry he was.
"Is it okay for you to leave the capital, Edin?"
The Guild Master of the capital oversees all the adventurer guilds in the country. For him to leave for Drindor would mean being away from the capital for a few days.
Kain decided to reveal his secret. He trusted Edin, who would be his future brother-in-law.
"Edin, I actually have a proposal. But I need you to keep it confidential."
"Considering you're my brother-in-law, I promise to keep it secret."
With Edin's agreement, Kain nodded.
"Actually—"
Kain explained that he could instantly teleport to Drindor using transfer magic.
"That's wonderful! I didn't expect you to be able to use the legendary transfer magic. If that's the case, we can reach Drindor today. Could you also bring the new deputy with you? I'll ensure the confidentiality."
"Understood. As soon as the selection is complete."
"Can you come back in two hours? I'll prepare everything by then."
Kain shook hands with Edin and left the office.
Since he had no other business, he decided to return to the mansion.
When he opened the door and entered, Coran and Sylvia were standing there with apologetic expressions.
"Master Kain, I'm sorry for earlier. I didn't realize you were listening."
"Master Kain, we are truly sorry."
Both bowed deeply in apology.
"Hmm? It's fine. You're both of age, and there's no problem with the two of you. However, this is an important time for me as the lord. So, please wait a bit longer."
Kain's lack of anger relieved them.
Sylvia had been taking care of Kain since he was a baby and was a special maid to him. Coran, who had confessed his feelings, was worried about being fired but felt relieved.
"I'll let you know when it's a good time to get married. I'll also celebrate with you."
Kain's words made both of them blush.
Kain sat at his desk in the office and went through the documents that required his approval.
Thanks to Coran's efficiency, the documents were well-organized, and he signed them one by one without any issues.
After stamping all the documents, he leaned back in his chair and stretched.
"Finally done. It's about time to head to the guild."
He gathered the approved documents and placed them in the completed box.
Kain stood up, stretched again, and left the office.
He informed Coran and Sylvia that he would be staying in Drindor after visiting the guild.
He left the mansion and walked through the noble district. By the time he reached the Adventurer's Guild, it was dusk.
When he entered the guild, Leithia was waiting in the hall, looking unhappy.
"Master Kain, I've been waiting for you. The Guild Master is ready to see you."
Leithia led Kain to Edin's office. Unlike her usual self, she was silent.
After knocking and confirming, Kain opened the door.
He sat on the sofa opposite Edin. To his surprise, Leithia sat next to Edin, and there was a large bag on the side of the sofa.
"I thought Leithia should go to Drindor. To become a deputy in the Adventurer's Guild, one needs considerable experience. Leithia, who is the chief of this capital guild, should be fine."
"Let me introduce myself again. I will be the new deputy of the Drindor guild. Yes, I'm single and live in the dorm, so I can go anywhere at a moment's notice."
Leithia greeted Kain with a self-deprecating smile and then turned to look at Edin with a sharp gaze.
Edin seemed to have chosen someone who could handle the transfer. Kain was surprised to learn that Leithia was the chief.
"I'm glad Leithia will be the new deputy in Drindor. It will be easier to work with someone I know. Leithia, please take care of things."
"Master Kain, it's an honor to work with you. I'll do my best."
Her expression finally relaxed a bit.
"Kain, everything is ready. Let's go as soon as possible."
"Then, let's go. I'll take care of Leithia's luggage."
Kain put Leithia's luggage into his item box.
"You even have an item box, Master Kain..."
Kain ignored Leithia's comment and told them to get closer.
He placed his hands on their shoulders and cast the spell.
"Let's go. 'Transfer.'"
In an instant, the view changed, and they found themselves near the gate of Drindor.
Both were amazed by their first experience with transfer magic.
"Is this the legendary transfer magic..."
"It's really instant. I wonder what all the time spent in carriages was for."
"Come on, everyone, let's go."
Kain led the way to the gate.
He greeted the guards.
"Good work. Can we pass through?"
The guard, who knew Kain was the lord, responded nervously.
"Lord, the two people behind you are..."
"The two behind me are Edin, the Guild Master of the capital, and Leithia, a guild staff member."
The two showed their identification. Of course, it was their guild cards. When magic is channeled into the staff card, it displays their name and the title "guild staff."
"I've confirmed. Welcome to Drindor."
The guard bowed politely after checking their IDs.
The three passed through and entered the town.
The two were impressed by the bustling town, which was livelier than they expected.
"Indeed, it's a lively town, being a hub for adventurers."
"I thought it would be worse."
Kain guided them through the town to the Adventurer's Guild.
"This guild hall is impressive. No wonder, with so many registered members."
Edin gazed at the building and muttered.
Inside, the guild was crowded with adventurers, and the bar in the back was also busy.
When the door opened, the adventurers' attention turned to Kain.
Many of them had been at the training ground and recognized Kain, causing them to step back in shock.
The adventurers who didn't know Kain pointed and laughed at the sight.
Some even sized up the three, seeing them as a party of a child, an elf, and a beautiful woman.
Kain and the two others entered and called out to the counter.
Aurora, whom Kain had spoken to before, responded.
"Excuse me, I'd like to see the Guild Master."
"Yes, Master Kain. I'll check with the Guild Master right away."
Kain was surprised to be recognized before he could introduce himself.
Aurora disappeared into the back with a smile, while the other receptionists looked envious.
After a short wait, Rikisetsu, the Guild Master, came out with great speed.
"Master Kain! I'm so sorry—"
Next to Kain was, of course, Edin. Rikisetsu froze when he saw Edin's face.
"Y-You, the Chief!?"
"Hello, Rikisetsu. It's been a while. I came to talk about some matters."
Rikisetsu, a former S-rank adventurer, stood rigid and motionless, unable to face Edin.
The adventurers and receptionists were shocked by Rikisetsu's reaction, and their gazes focused on one point.
"Why is the Chief of the capital's guild, Edin, here in Drindor!?"
"Of course, I heard it from my brother-in-law."
"I'll show you to the reception room. This way, please."
Edin smiled, and Rikisetsu, sweating profusely, treated Edin with even more respect than Kain.
As the four of them disappeared into the back, the people around them started to chatter.
"Who are those guys!? To see the demon Rikisetsu bowing so low..."
"Who is that kid!?"
"He's a demon. That kid destroyed the training ground. He's the 'Silver-Haired Demon.'"
"Really!?"
The receptionists, meanwhile, were talking about Edin and Kain.
"Isn't that Edin, the Chief of the capital's guild? I saw him once in the capital. And the one behind him is Leithia, the chief of the capital guild. To be with such people..."
"Who is Master Kain!?"
The guild was abuzz with talk about Kain and his companions.
Unbeknownst to Kain, he had just gained a nickname.
