With all the staff assembled, Caine began his speech.
“Everyone, I apologize for interrupting your work. My name is Baron Caine von Silford. I am still young, but I hope you will assist me in various ways. Please treat me kindly.”
Caine greeted them.
“““““““We will treat you kindly.”””””””
Everyone bowed in unison.
“Alright, first, let’s start by creating the guest list for the housewarming party! We need to send out invitations.”
With Sebastian’s help, they created the list and sent out the invitations. The housewarming party was scheduled for two months later, as some nobles living far from the capital would take over ten days to receive the invitations. Many lords who governed their lands would either send a representative or just send a congratulatory letter. It would be too much to expect them to travel to the capital for every party.
They also sent invitations to the nobles in the capital, including the reluctant Duke Cordino. Invitations were sent to Duke Eric and Chancellor Magna, but not to His Majesty. When Caine asked Coran about it, he learned that invitations to the royal family were rarely sent, and if they were, only to the highest-ranking nobles like dukes. No one would send an invitation to the royal family for a new baron’s housewarming party.
About ten days after sending out the invitations, Caine received a summons from the royal palace. Coran had warned him that this might happen, so he took the invitation with him. When he tried to walk to the palace, Coran stopped him.
“Please don’t. There will be a formal meeting as a noble.”
Reluctantly, Caine listened and took the carriage. Upon arriving at the palace, he was led to the usual reception room, where the tea and pastries were always delicious. After a while, His Majesty, Duke Eric, and Chancellor Magna entered. His Majesty looked displeased, while Duke Eric was smiling as usual.
“Caine, I hear you’re having a housewarming party. Eric and Magna received invitations, but I did not. Why is that?”
His Majesty narrowed his eyes and looked at Caine.
Is this why he’s in a bad mood?
“I was the one who received the title, and you are the father of my fiancée. Why didn’t you send an invitation to your future father-in-law? Eric even showed me his invitation and boasted about it!”
“It’s not right to attack Caine like that. Inviting the king to a housewarming party is not something a regular noble can do,” Duke Eric interjected.
“That’s exactly the point! You’re not a regular noble! And you’re my future son-in-law. Why didn’t you invite me?”
Coran had warned Caine that this might happen. He had the invitation in his item box.
“No, I thought it would be better to present it to you in person rather than by letter. I apologize for not being able to visit sooner.”
Caine bowed and handed over the invitation.
“Yes! That’s what I said, Eric. I told you there would be one for me.”
Duke Eric and Chancellor Magna chuckled.
“I plan to bring Telesia as well. I’m looking forward to the food and drinks.”
His Majesty seemed busy but took the invitation and left the room in a good mood.
“Caine, you’re in for a tough time. It’s rare for the king to attend a baron’s housewarming party. But with that attitude, he’ll definitely come! Good luck!”
Duke Eric left, and Caine was alone.
“Sigh. Just as Coran said. I’m glad I brought it.”
Caine sighed deeply.
He returned to his carriage and went back to his mansion, where he told Coran what had happened.
“If the king is coming, we need to make significant preparations.”
“I’ll consult with my father about the food and drinks and arrange for a chef to come.”
The next day, Caine went to Garm’s place.
“What?! The king is coming too?!”
That was his first reaction.
“Usually, the king doesn’t attend such events, and it would be impolite to send an invitation. I told him about the summons and the conversation with the king.”
Garm sighed and leaned back in his chair.
“Your response was correct. If you hadn’t had the invitation, it would have been more than just a bad mood. We’ll send additional chefs, and do you need anything else?”
“I could use some knights as well, as I don’t have any private soldiers yet. Also, more food and drinks. We’ll provide the tableware.”
After securing Garm’s promise, Caine returned to his mansion.
First, he gathered all the staff.
“This time, the king will be attending the housewarming party. It will be challenging, but I hope everyone will do their best.”
At this, one of the maids fainted.
“Regarding the party, we need to purchase tableware and other items. What should we do?”
Coran asked.
“I’ll take care of it. Including the cups.”
Caine planned to use the World Dictionary and Creation to make everything. He had enough mana to create all the tableware and glasses.
“Famous for glasses, Venetian glass is the best. I’ll look up the method and start making them.”
He created various types of glasses and a large number of plates. As a gift, he made a pair of Venetian glass glasses.
Midway through, Sylvia came to see the progress and was mesmerized by the beauty of the glasses. He also made forks and knives on a whim, as they weren’t much different from what he was already making.
Next, he needed to decide on the menu. For such a special party, he wanted to serve dishes that would surprise everyone. He planned to use his knowledge and recipes from his previous life. Even if the ingredients were different, he could still create similar flavors. After researching various recipes, he had a meeting with the head chef and repeated trial runs until he was satisfied with the results.
And so, the day of the housewarming party arrived.
