For the first time, I was given permission to go outside the church.
Of course, it was with the escort of Milly and Nina.
Since we were going outside the walls of the capital, I received a leather armor and robe for children from Sara, along with a short sword as a weapon.
I put on the equipment I received in the room.
"Lord Cain, you look wonderful."
The maid, Sylvia, always praised me.
"It's your first time outside, so be very careful. It's dangerous even around the walls."
"Okay, I understand. If I get hurt, I might not be allowed to go out again, so I'll be careful."
After preparing my equipment, I went outside.
My mother, Sara, and my sister, Reine, were waiting.
"Cain, it suits you well. Even though it's just for magic practice, there are monsters outside. Be careful."
"Cain, tell us about what you see outside!"
"Mother, I'm going now. I'll be back by evening."
I followed Milly and Nina as they walked.
We passed through the gate of the estate and walked through the capital with the two of them.
The main street was paved with cobblestones, and there were many stalls.
The people outside were lively, and it was clear that this city was prosperous. I understood that my father was an excellent lord, but everything was new, and I looked around curiously.
"If you keep looking around like that, you'll look like you're from the countryside. Since your parents are the lord, you should be more confident."
"Well, even as the lord's son, I'm the third son. I plan to become an adventurer when I grow up."
"You're only five, yet you don't act like a child. I would have thought that if your parents were the lord, you'd be more arrogant at this age."
"I was taught that the nobility exist because of the people. The people's prosperity leads to higher taxes, which is how we are fed."
"The lord here is known for his good governance, even in the guild. That's why we moved here from another city. The security is good, and the forest is nearby, so there are many guild requests."
"Yeah, it's comfortable to live here. The food is delicious too."
It seems they both like this city. It means my father's policies are working well.
I walked on, feeling satisfied.
"Ah, if we're going to the wall, can we stop by the guild first? There might be some information about the outside."
"I want to go to the guild!"
Cain's eyes sparkled as he answered immediately.
We walked through the city, and a sign with crossed swords and a shield became visible. It was a fairly large building.
We opened the door and went inside.
There was a reception desk in front, and on the right, there were request papers posted on a bulletin board.
On the left, there was a waiting area and a place that looked like a dining area.
Even though it was still morning, some adventurers were already drinking.
We walked to the reception desk.
"Rudy, can I ask you something?"
The receptionist, a beast girl with dog ears, looked up and smiled.
"Oh, it's Milly. What brings you here today?"
"We were thinking of training outside the walls and came to check if there are any monsters."
"There are only Horn Rabbits and occasionally Wolves. No new information. By the way, you're bringing a cute kid today. Is this a new disciple?"
Milly leaned close to Rudy and whispered.
"He's the lord's son, and we're on a mission. We're planning to go outside for training."
Rudy stood up hurriedly and bowed to Cain.
She didn't expect a child dressed as an adventurer to be the lord's son.
"Oh, I apologize. I didn't realize you were the lord's son. I'm Rudy, the receptionist at the adventurer's guild."
"I'm Cain von Silford. I'm only five, so I can't register as an adventurer yet, but I plan to become one when I turn ten. I look forward to working with you then."
"Oh, you're so polite. Just call me Rudy."
"Alright, we're off."
Milly and the others headed for the guild's exit.
One of the adventurers drinking in the dining area called out.
"Hey! Isn't that Milly? What's with the kid? Instead of babysitting, why don't you come drink with us?"
"Right, right. Leave the kid and come drink with us! Stay the night too. I'll make sure you're satisfied."
Milly and Nina both looked annoyed.
"We're on a mission. If you want a drinking companion, go to a brothel."
She replied uninterestedly.
As they were about to leave, one of the men grabbed Nina's arm.
"Aren't you going to listen to us?"
"I won't let go."
Milly said firmly.
"What? Do you have a problem with C-rank Cross? You're only D-class. Just serve us and listen to us!"
This is a typical scenario! Cain couldn't help but feel excited.
But if this continued, they wouldn't be able to go outside.
"Excuse me, we're going out together, so can you let go?"
Cain stepped forward and tapped the man's arm, who was holding Nina.
With the blessing of the god of war and martial arts, he had strength that didn't seem like a five-year-old's.
"Ow! What are you doing, you brat!! I won't forgive you. I'll teach you a lesson!"
Cross, whose arm was tapped, lunged at Cain.
Cain used his martial arts to dodge at the last moment and kicked the inside of the man's knee as he moved in.
"I won't forgive this brat! Die!!"
He drew his sword and attacked.
"Watch out!!"
Milly shouted, but the man, drunk, had poor sword skills, and Cain easily dodged.
He drew his short sword from its sheath and hit the man's jaw with the sheath.
The man rolled his eyes and fell over.
Everyone was stunned; a C-rank adventurer had been defeated by a five-year-old, even though he was drunk.
"What's going on!!!"
A sudden loud voice made everyone turn.
A bald man in his forties, completely different from the fallen adventurers, stood there.
"Guild Master!"
Rudy, the receptionist, called out.
"Rudy, what happened? Explain."
Rudy explained what had happened.
"I see. Just carry the one lying there. I'll train him a bit later."
He then turned and smiled.
"You're the lord's third son, right? If you plan to become an adventurer, you're welcome. If you're this strong at five, you might even become S-rank."
He patted Cain's head and laughed, then went inside.
"Lord Cain, I'm sorry. Our Guild Master is always like that."
Rudy, the receptionist, bowed apologetically.
"It's fine. A friendly Guild Master is good. I'm not hurt, and I wanted to go outside quickly."
"Thank you, Cain."
Nina knelt and hugged him.
Surprised by the hug and the pleasant smell, Cain couldn't help but smile.
Being an elf, she was slender, and her chest was a bit small, which was a bit disappointing.
"Let's go outside now that we're done talking."
We left the guild and walked toward the gate.
"Still, Cain, you can use swords, magic, and martial arts?"
"Cain, you're strong."
"I trained by reading books at home!"
"Reading books and training won't make a C-rank adventurer lose so easily. But be careful outside; you never know what you might encounter."
"I understand, Milly."
"I'll protect Cain. Don't worry."
Nina said she would protect him. Unlike Milly, she didn't talk much but was kind.
"Thank you, Nina!"
I returned a smile.
We walked through the gate, talking. The gatekeeper was there, but Milly had already arranged it.
Of course, they couldn't stop the lord's son, so it couldn't be helped.
Still, the capital's gate was quite large. The outer wall continued at a height of about five meters.
Finally, we were outside.
After passing through the gate, a well-maintained road stretched straight ahead, and a vast grassland spread out.
Born five years ago, and having self-awareness for two years, this was Cain's first adventure.
He couldn't help but feel his heart leap.
