After lightly cleaning up the shop, I waited for Rhonya to wake up before returning home.
Rhonya who just woke up looked like sheâs still in much pain. And to recover back her health, she decided to close the shop for tomorrow.
Around this time, we (demis) regularly visit the shop every day. All the more so that we wish for Rhonyaâs quick recovery. Although itâs regrettable, we would have to find lunch somewhere else tomorrow. We of the DemiMercSquad lives in the outskirt of the city of Domskhasa.
âSena, you better go nurse Ojou tomorrowâ
The evening that day, Ryuse-san said so to me as I was sitting on the chair reading a book.
ââŠ.Why?â
âIsnât it your fault that Ojou fell sickâ
âI told you thatâs unreasonableâ
âBut you, youâre off duty tonight anyways. And since Ojouâs living alone, and itâs also your fault, just go and nurse herâ
ââŠâŠâ
Although I flipped a page of the book, its contents did not go through my head.
Itâs true that she lives alone and so there wouldnât be anyone to nurse her to health. But, Rhonya is loved by the townspeople, so some of the meddlesome ones would try to help her out.
âAnd we donât get to eat Tenchouâs cooking tomorrowâŠ. The heckâŠâ
Chise who was lazing around on the sofa whispered so in a regrettable tone. Then moments later, he started snoozing off while making a snore.
âThen, how about letting Boss nurse her? Iâll go to work insteadâ Moving the focus of the conversation towards Shize who was laying down on the opposite sofa.
In the past, Shize had taken care of children, and so he definitely knows how to nurse a sick person. But there was no reply back from Shize, it seems he had fallen asleep.
âWhatâs with that, Sena. Do you really hate to nurse Ojou so muchâ
ââŠNot that I hate it but⊠*sigh, fine⊠Iâll go so take a short nap, will you Ryuse?â
Ryuse then hugged a cushion and jumped onto an empty sofa and stared at me.
ââŠ.What?â
âDonâtcha dare make a move on a sick personâ
âGo to sleep alreadyâ
Whatâs he talking aboutâŠ
Moving the cushion towards his face, Ryuse then closed his eyes.
An hour after, Ryuse and Chise who woke up then started fussing about it again.
âYou better go and nurse her I tell ya! You have to!â as they pointed it out once again. I sent them off as they go to work.
The next morning, taking a book on my hand, I headed towards Rhonyaâs shop.
âThereâs nothing like a cup of coffee from Rhonya-chanâs to start the day.â
I could hear such a voice. And it looks like heâs holding onto a freshly brewed cup of coffee. Fearing my intuition, I quickened my steps.
But
âOh? Sena-san⊠Good morningâ
The door opened before I could knock it, and Rhonyaâs face protruded out from the gap.
A far listless voice compared to yesterday.
Her narrowed eyes look drowsy unlike her usual cheerful blue eyes, and her silky silver hair was let down unlike usual. On her shoulders was a light blanket.
Of course, the usual âwelcomeâ and smile was not there, and I could feel a sadness.
ââŠ.Morningâ
As I greeted back in a slightly moody tone.
The smell of coffee wafted through the shop, and I could smell the usual sweet and plant-like smell from her.
âWhat are you doing, youâre not resting enoughâ
âEh? I did take a restâ
âYou brewed a cup of coffee for the customer, rightâ
âAh⊠A return gift for coming to visit meâ
ââŠ.Good griefâ
I feel that this little girl here doesnât understand the meaning of resting.
âSince the reason you fell sick was partly my fault, let me nurse you to health. Can I go in?â
âEh?⊠No, this is my faultâ
âRyuse and the rest are blaming me for it, and I too want you to recover swiftly. Or, is there a reason you wouldnât let me enter?â
She may be feeling repulsive on the fact that a just-known acquaintance, a male to boot, to enter her house.
But for a friend to be so cautious of me, made me feel
âActually, yesâŠâ
My eyes widened to hear Rhonyaâs confirmation.
Does that mean she doesnât trust me?
ââŠ.The Rotos are here to take care of me, so please do not mindâ
ââŠAah, so the Rotos are here?â
âYes.. So, the neighbors too did offer to nurse me, but I have declined themâ
The justified reason to not let anyone enter her house was due to the presence of the shy spirits who came to take care of her.
âI am currently brewing some medicine, and will go back to sleep after drinking, and I believe to be fully recovered by tomorrowâ
ââŠBut I think there are some things the small-sized Rotos canât do as well, right. Iâll be the one to decline the visitorsâ offer, so you should go rest before your condition turns any worseâ
If the spirits are here (to take care of her), then I should just enter. If she keeps brewing a cup of coffee for each visitor, she wonât have any time to even rest.
I could do what the spirits canât, and itâs the most suitable role for me as well.
ââŠAwawaâ
Forcefully trying to enter inside, Rhonya let out a slightly flustered voice.
âMy apologies⊠I am not in proper clothingâ Looking down in embarrassment, she held down her hair.
âŠRather than being cautious of me, I believe she just doesnât want me to see her in her current state. It relieved me a bit.
âIâll just read a book over here, so Iâll be able to deal with the visitors easilyâ
âAh, then, how about a cup of coffee?â
âYou, go to bed without doing anything nowâ
ââŠ.Alrightâ
Rhonya finally headed towards her room. While staggering around with a heavy step. It feels uneasy thinking how she could reach the second floor in that state.
âIâll carry you up thereâ
Putting down the book on the table, I carried her on my back.
A sweet smell wafted through my nose, probably from her hair which was let down. The smell of flowers.
âWow.. Sena-san, you sure have the strengthâ
Rhonya made a smile while saying so in a slightly softer tone. She had completely let down her guard, and not a speck of wariness.
She seemed to be surprised since our height and stature is similar.
