Chapter 1-18 : Magical Bag

Mylia went to the lavender field to help Chloe with her work.

Now that they were alone, Mylia told Chloe what happened yesterday.

「…I’m sorry, Mylia. I didn’t think they would betroth you to the merchant’s son this early… I thought it would be after Robin onee-sama got a new husband…」(Chloe)

「Chloe onee-chan, please don’t worry about it. You’re not at fault. Could you please lend me your wisdom again?」(Mylia)

「Yes, of course! If it’s for my cute Mylia, I wouldn’t mind even if my brain burns out!」(Chloe)

Saying that, Chloe hugged Mylia and stroked her head gently.

「I’m happy, but please don’t push yourself too much.」(Mylia)

The villagers who passed by said, “They’re really close” and “They’re so cute”, with smiles on their faces.

While still hugging Mylia, Chloe smiled at the villagers, and they replied to her with smiles, too.

Then, the villagers continued walking toward the east side of the village.

「I wonder if Father rushed your engagement because of the village meeting.」(Chloe)

Chloe released Mylia from her arms and continued to pick lavender.

「Village meeting?」(Mylia)

「It’s a meeting between important people in this village to talk about what to buy from the caravan that comes twice a year, or whatever problem happened in this village.」(Chloe)

「I see. So that’s why they mentioned that yesterday.」(Mylia)

Yesterday, after Mylia showed two chunks of rock salt she took from her pocket, Jalda desperately said, “Aaron-sama, can you please reconsider not canceling the engagement? It’s your suggestion in the first place, right? Are you going to break your promise? I won’t help you in the village meeting, then!”

Jalda is one of the most influential people in this village. Still, Aaron shook his head because he couldn’t resist the charm of the precious rock salt.

「Mylia, did Robin onee-sama bully you again after that?」(Chloe)

「Un. She pinched my cheeks and told me to bring her rock salt if I found any.」(Mylia)

「…..This is not something you say to your older sister, but… that woman’s personality is twisted…」(Chloe)

「Agreed… She’s like a demon queen…」(Mylia)

「Right? Ah! Chloe onee-chan, there’s a good lavender flower over there.」(Mylia)

They smiled at each other.

It was difficult to find high quality lavender in this large lavender field, but Mylia could find them easily thanks to her sonar magic.

Chloe’s work became so much lighter thanks to Mylia.

She picked the lavender Mylia pointed at and put it in the basket.

「Un. He told me to find at least one chunk a week.」(Mylia)

「But thanks to that, I was able to avoid the engagement. Also, our meals have become more delicious because Mother cooks them with the rock salt.」(Mylia)

And then, Alex who was walking in the woods suddenly slipped embarrassingly and hit his head on the ground.

Seeing him slip like that, Aaron, who was walking behind him, yelled angrily at him.

Actually, Alex looked down lately, and it was because Mylia has been pranking him without him knowing.

After Chloe shook Mylia’s shoulder, Mylia’s sight returned to the lavender fields.

Mylia took out a pouch made of black velvet fabric with a bead-like stone on it from her pocket.

Mylia turned the magical bag upside down, and then, a lot of rock salt chunks fell from the bag and hit the ground with a loud sound.

「I made this bag to store rock salt chunks just in case. I can take them out anytime. I can get a lot of money if I sell them, and I can eat delicious food with this salt!……Eh? Chloe onee-chan, what’s wrong?」(Mylia)

Chloe dumbfoundedly looked at the large amount of rock salt chunks on the ground.

「Yup.」(Mylia)

Chloe was confused.

Rock salt is a natural seasoning that is formed underground over time.

No one knew how it was formed.

It was a specialty product of the western part of the Kingdom of Adrashlem.

Chloe was a little worried.

「Why did you take all of them?」(Chloe)

Saying that, Mylia made a cute little fist and put it in front of her chest, while her lavender-colored hair swayed in the wind.

Mylia didn’t know that one chunk of rock salt is worth a gold coin.

The amount she has now is already worth a fortune.

Chloe stroked Mylia’s head and smiled at her.

「Don’t show the rock salt or your bag to someone else, okay? And I think you only need to give Father one chunk every one or two months. One chunk a week is just so unreasonable. I don’t think he will be mad.」(Chloe)

「Is that so? Alright, then… Ah, I should put them back.」(Mylia)

When Mylia poured her magical power into the magical bag, it sucked the chunks of rock salt in like a vacuum cleaner.

Chole once again was amazed by how convenient the bag was.
