Chapter 3-9 : Party Venue (part 2)

Mylia, Chloe and Aria entered the building after getting permission from the receptionist.

Just like its gorgeous look from the outside, the inside of the building looked extravagant.

The big, glittering chandelier hanging from the ceiling, good-looking young people in beautiful dresses, and the group of musicians that were playing a wonderful melody that matched the atmosphere made the party look even more fancy.

It had been thirty minutes since the party started, so some people had already found their partners and started dancing with them.

（Whoaa… They’re dancing so elegantly… I feel even more out of place…）

Mylia watched the young people dancing in the center of the venue in awe.

「O’ beautiful lady, would you like to take my hand and dance with this pitiful, lonely man?」(young man)

「Fufu. What kind of invitation was that? But… If you insist…」(young woman)

Next to Mylia, a young woman was asked by a young man to dance with him. The young woman then took the young man’s hand as her face turned bright red.

（Eww… That cheesy line gives me goosebumps… I can’t believe there’s a man asking a lady to dance with him like that…）

While Mylia was looking off at the new couple who were heading toward the center while holding hands, Chloe called out to her.

「Mylia, first we should say hello to the party organizer.」(Chloe)

「Un!」(Mylia)

「Here. Take my hand and hold it firmly. I won’t let any strange men approach you.」(Chloe)

「Onee-chan, that’s my line.」(Mylia)

「What are you talking about? You are the cutest girl in this venue. You need to be careful.」(Chloe)

「O, Okay…」(Mylia)

Mylia gave up on convincing Chloe. She then took Chloe’s hand and held it tightly.

「Aria, do you know who the party organizer is?」(Chloe)

「Yes, it’s His Excellency Count Bacon Saint Germain. I’ll take you to him.」(Aria)

（His name sounds yummy…）

Mylia, who couldn’t stop thinking about food, reacted to a food-like name as usual.

Aria took the lead and started walking through the venue gracefully.

Chloe and Mylia then followed her from behind.

However, not long after they started walking, there was a group of three men who sent passionate gazes at them.

（Oh? Looks like we have our first victims.）

Mylia secretly cast petrification magic and focused it on the eyes of the insidious men who were staring at Chloe’s cleavage.

「Ughh… I suddenly can’t move my eyes!」

「What the hell is happening!?」

「Dammit! I wanna see more of that beautiful cleavage!」(men)

They were shouting as Mylia, Chloe and Aria passed them.

Chloe and Aria tilted their heads, wondering what in the world happened to those men.

（Dear sirs, that’s what you get for staring at Onee-chan’s boobs! Don’t worry, you can move your eyes again in thirty seconds. See ya~）

Mylia felt somewhat satisfied after punishing those men.

She swore to protect Chloe and Aria while they were at the party.

She kept walking while keeping an eye on the surrounding people.

（This place is really huge… I wonder where Robin is…）

She actually didn’t want to see Robin at all, but she kept paying attention to the surroundings to look for her, and at the same time to make sure there were no perverted men aiming for Chloe or Aria.

However, after walking for a while, they found Count Bacon Saint Germain before Mylia could find Robin.

Count Bacon looked like a gentle person in his forties.

（Whoa, he has a ‘sausage hairstyle’. It reminds me of the portraits in the music room in my high school in Japan. The hairstyle that looks like a pile of sausages…）

It was definitely not a ‘sausage hairstyle’. Mylia just came up with that.

It was the hairstyle that was very popular in the Georgian Era in which you made several curls on your hair. Normally around the side of your ears.

A long time ago, Count Bacon fell in love with a woman but various things happened and he couldn’t marry her. He had no choice but to forget about that woman until he found another woman who now has become his wife.

He couldn’t forget how regretful he was at that time. He started to help young people with their love relationships because he didn’t want them to feel the same way as when he couldn’t marry the woman he loved.

Since then, he started holding parties that only unmarried people could attend in order to help them find partners, and because of that, people began to call him the Evangelist of Love.

He was just a meddlesome man for some people but he was extremely popular, especially in aristocratic society.

There was even a rumor saying that a bride and groom whose wedding was attended by him would be forever united by love.

For Mylia, who only cared about food and cute friends and didn’t care about romantic life with a man at all, Count Bacon was probably just a meddlesome old man.

「Greetings, Your Excellency. I’m Aria de la Ruzé Griffith. May I have your time for a moment?」(Aria)

Aria bowed gracefully and greeted Count Bacon.

「Of course, of course. If talking with this old man can make you happy, I will spare my time for you as much as you want.」(Bacon)

「Thank you. Let me introduce my friends. This is Baron Mylia de la Atwood, and this is her older sister, Baronet Chloe de la Atwood.」(Aria)

After Aria said that, Mylia and Chloe greeted Count Bacon with a bow.

「Mylia de la Atwood…? So you are the rumored Dragon Slayer?」(Bacon)

「Y-Yes. That’s probably me.」(Mylia)

「I see, I see. So even a Dragon Slayer needs a man in her life, huh? That’s wonderful! I can keep it a secret that you came to this party if you want. Secrets can spice up your romantic relationship after all!」(Bacon)

「Umm… I don’t know what you’re talking about but I do know about spice!」(Mylia)

「Haha! You’re such an interesting girl. I hope you will come to my mansion when you have time. Actually, my wife is a fan of yours. She will be happy to hear about how you defeated those dragons from the person herself. I will show you my jewelry collection too!」(Bacon)

「Jewelry collection, huh…?」(Mylia)

Actually, Mylia was kind of interested in Count Bacon’s jewelry collection because she had a lot of gemstones in her magic bag that she couldn’t appraise by herself.

「Mylia-san, being invited to Count Bacon St. Germain’s mansion is something you can be proud of, you know?」(Aria)

Suddenly, Aria quietly whispered to Mylia.

「Is that so?」(Mylia)

「Yeah. He’s like a legend among the young aristocratic people in this kingdom. He’s also in Queen Kushana’s faction, so I think getting close to him is a good thing for you.」(Aria)

「But I have no intention of joining the queen’s faction though.」(Mylia)

「Even so, people already think that you are in the queen’s faction because you received two Dragon Slayer medals and a noble title from her.」(Aria)

「Ahh, now that you mentioned it.」(Mylia)

Mylia nodded then returned her gaze toward Count Bacon.

「Alright, I will come to visit when I have time.」(Mylia)

「That’s great. Well then, ladies. I hope you enjoy this party. O’ three beautiful flowers in the middle of a meadow, may lonely butterflies gather for your beauty~…」(Bacon)

After saying a line that was difficult to comprehend, Count Bacon turned around and talked with other people.

（I wonder if most aristocrats are weird people…）

「Alright, now it’s time to find that woman…」(Chloe)

Chloe looked at Mylia with a serious face.

「Un. Wait a sec. I’ll try to find her with my Sonar Magic. She’s probably not far from here.」(Mylia)

Mylia spread her magical power around the venue and started concentrating to find Robin.

（Where are you now, evil woman…? ….Aa! There she is!）

She got a reaction from the point where Robin most likely was. She then immediately used clairvoyance to make sure that it was really Robin.

（It’s really Robin but… Are you serious…? How did she…）

For some reason, Robin was surrounded by many young, good-looking men.

「Mylia, what’s wrong? Did you find her?」(Chloe)

「Yes. She’s over there!」(Mylia)

「…Alright, let’s go.」(Chloe)

「I’m going with you.」(Aria)

With Mylia in the lead, the three of them walked toward the crowd of young men.
