Li ShiZe looked up and looked at the pretty face in front of him. The girl’s makeup was exquisite and her features delicate. He could tell she was nervous from the way she had her lips pressed together. He searched in his memories, but he still didn’t know who she was.

After all, he had met many girls from wealthy families that were of the same type. With the exception of the more memorable ones, he didn’t remember the rest of them.

“I am Deng Lan.”

After Deng Lan had learned about the recent development surrounding Li ShiZe, she felt very unjust for him. She knew she should be more reserved, but when she found out his work location, she finally couldn’t help but come over.

Would she be able to leave a lasting impression with him if she helped him out when he was down on his luck? She didn’t believe that Li ShiZe would be defeated by this. After all, both Li WangJin and Fang JunRong were his real parents. They probably just wanted him to gain some experience before they helped him out.

It’d be a good investment to help him out right now. That was the reasoning she used to convince her parents, and they had agreed to set aside some money to help him out.

She looked at Li ShiZe’s handsome face greedily. His five-o’clock shadow made him look both disheveled but also an unruly charm. She blushed as she looked at him.

Deng Lan took a deep breath, and her palms were sweating from her being very nervous. “Do you have a girlfriend currently?”

Li ShiZe thought about Jiang YaGe but finally shook his head. “No.” They were in a time out right now.

Deng Lan had a happy look on her face. She cleared her throat and changed the subject. “By the way, I heard that you are looking for investors recently. I happen to have some money to spare.”

She smiled at him as she stood there. She had practiced that smile in front of the mirror many, many times.

Li ShiZe was delighted. He didn’t think money would come a’knocking. His look was much gentler now and he said, “Let’s talk inside. It’s a bit chilly out here. Let’s get out of the wind.”

If it was before, he’d never had paid any attention to someone as unimportant as Deng Lan. But things were different now. He needed capital badly, so he was willing to stoop down and butter up to her.

Deng Lan felt dazed. Li ShiZe cared about her. It was like she was dreaming.

She followed Li ShiZe inside in her dazed state. Li ShiZe didn’t need to say much before she offered up her amount.

When all had been finalized, Li ShiZe let out a sigh of relief. His phone rang. He looked at the caller ID. It was Jiang YaGe.

He glanced over at Deng Lan and answered the call. Over the call, Jiang YaGe told him that she didn’t want to stay in the dormitory anymore and wanted to rent a place outside. She would like to borrow dozens of thousands of yuan from him and reassured him that she’d pay him back.

Li ShiZe’s heart ached for her. She must have been bullied at school again. She would not have reached out to him for help otherwise. She could just move back in with him but she chose stubbornly to leave instead.

He decided to transfer over 10,000 yuan to her. He couldn’t spend too much time on taking care of her right now ,but he could at least ensure the quality of her life.

Deng Lan was a bit nervous. She couldn’t hear the content of the conversation, but she could tell it was from a girl.

Li ShiZe’s look froze for a little before he said casually, “It’s my sister.”

“Li XinYun?” Deng Lan gave up on that idea immediately. Li XinYun probably didn’t need money and wouldn’t need Li ShiZe to transfer her money. 10,000 yuan wouldn’t even be enough to pay for one of her purses.

“It’s my father’s adopted daughter. She’s kind and nice, very different from XinYun.”

Deng Lan’s smile returned after she heard that. “Can I hang out with your sister during my free time?”

If she wanted to conquer Li ShiZe, she must have good relationships with those around him. It looked like his sister would be the breakthrough that she needed right now.

“Sure. You two are close in age. I’m sure you have a lot in common.”

Li ShiZe thought that perhaps Jiang YaGe would be happier with more friends on her side.

Deng Lan was happy that she could get close to someone else around Li ShiZe. The atmosphere in the room was very cheerful.
