In Ivanovâs opinion, Lu Feng is just a patient suffering from a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome.
Lu Feng was a child Chen An picked up in an incident back in Africa. Back then, both of Lu Fengâs parents had passed away during an African tribe conflict.
However, the person who sold firearms to those tribes was Chen Zhang An. It was those very firearms that took the lives of Lu Fengâs parents but yet, ultimately, Lu Feng still left with Chen Zhang An.
Ivanov didnât know why Chen Zhang An chose to take Lu Feng with him back then. Perhaps it was because he had just lost his younger brother in that conflict and Lu Feng had a passing resemblance to his brother in his childhood.
The first time Ivanov met Lu Feng was during an internal arms dealing assembly.
Then, Chen Zhang An had just completed a year of recuperation from his injuries at home. With his reappearance, he was accompanied by a boy, who looked just a little over ten and slightly malnourished. That boy was like a loyal dog by Chen Zhang Anâs side, head bowed and completely silent.
No one paid particular attention to the young Lu Feng until the moment a man spoke out of turn to Chen Zhang An. The youth whipped out a gun and shot a bullet into that manâs head. The young Lu Feng then had only been by Chen Zhang Anâs side for merely a year.
There was no rage, no vengeance but only absolute loyalty and a hidden madness. And it was precisely this unwavering loyalty and madness that allowed him to become Chen Zhang Anâs appointed successor.
âBack then in Africa, although Chen Zhang An came back alive, it was not without gunshot wounds. For the past few years, he had been gradually handing the ropes of his businesses to you. That implies, that due to his health, passing down his position to you was just a matter of time.â
With seemingly ordinary words, Ivanov blew a mouthful of white smoke at Lu Fengâs direction and coldly taunted, Â 'What reason could you have to usurp his place in such a hurry?â
'This has nothing to do with you, Ivanov.â The manâs face was void of expression, as cold as a robot.
'Is he really dead? Is Chen Zhang An, that man who is as wily as an old fox, really dead?â Ivanov gaze bored into Lu Feng as though he wanted to cut his chest open and take a look inside to see if the man spoke lies or truths. 'Or have you hidden him away?â
As Ivanov pressed him for answers, Lu Fengâs eyes grew chiller. 'You and I have nothing to talk about.â
The bodyguards behind Lu Feng poised as though to whip their guns out. Ivanov snorted. He gently waved a finger bearing a pigeon blood ruby ring.
âRelax. You should know that if I were to die here, it wonât  be any good news for you.â
Acting as though he gained information that he wanted, Ivanov smoked his cigar as he crossed the distance leisurely towards Lu Feng.
He paused at the moment he passed Lu Feng. Looking at the manâs chiseled profile that seem to be carved by blades, Ivanov smiled thinly and added with a tone of calm assuredness, "You canât bear to kill Chen Zhang An.â
Without a second look at Lu Feng, Ivanov left the darkened room in large strides. He could sense the dagger-like gaze Lu Feng threw at his back.
Ivanov couldnât help a mocking smirk. Had he hit the mark on its head?
Ah Chen Zhang An. Where are you, you wily old fox? If I knew how easy you were to tackle before, I would have found an opportunity to top you right from the beginning.
Blowing out a mouthful of smoke steadily, Ivanov threw his remaining cigar to the ground and grinded it under his shoe. The flickering embers died down quietly.
