The Male Lead Raises a Cat (15)
Finding out that other hosts lived in extreme misery just like her, Shen Mubai tried to settle her thoughts. No one knew what she started thinking about after. She was silent for a while before suddenly saying to the system, “System, it seems like I haven’t pooped at all recently.”
Not only have I not pooped, but I haven’t even peed.
System: “…and you just noticed that now?”
Shen Mubai replied with a simple, “Yes.” And while finding it hard to keep speaking, she continued, “I’m not constipated, am I?”
The system responded, “Since your soul is human, once you entered this cat’s body, its natural physique changed. So, you can actually eat anything, even things that cats usually can’t.”
Once she heard this, Shen Mubai almost fainted from excitement. It took her about 30 seconds to fully register this sudden and unexpected good news. She rolled around and screamed, “My crayfish, mutton kebabs, stinky tofu, small steamed pancakes, fruits, octopus balls, roasted chicken wings, roasted chicken legs…”
The system: “…..”
When Jiang Yiran came back home, Shen Mubai hastily returned everything to its original position. Then she greeted him, acting very cute and well-behaved.
The moment the door opened, she clung to him like a cat that missed her owner very much, rubbing against his calves and letting out soft meows.
Glancing down at the extremely excited cat, Jiang Yiran mercilessly brushed her aside and bent down to change his slippers.
Shen Mubai clung to him the whole time. Seeing him enter the living room, she also followed closely, both raising her head and wagging her tail as she did.
His attention fell on the cat bowl in the living room. There was still some of the fresh cat food he added this morning leftover, but the canned cat food next to it was licked clean.
Unsurprised, he withdrew his gaze. A certain suspicion in his heart was confirmed. Jiang Yiran poured himself a glass of water, sat on the sofa, and opened up a book to read.
As his slender finger turned the page, his gaze inadvertently swept over a certain spot. Jiang Yiran’s gaze slightly paused there, then immediately retracted it as if indifferent. There was no hidden look that could be detected in his eyes.
Shen Mubai didn’t notice anything at all, she was just focused on trying to get close to him. Seeing that the other party didn’t show any resistance, she jumped on the seat beside him.
Then, tilting her head slightly, she stared straight at the contents of the book with her big, dark green eyes.
In the end, she found that she couldn’t understand any of it, because the book was in French.
Nevertheless, that didn’t affect her desire to brush up the male lead’s favor in the slightest, so she decided to quietly accompany him for a while. Eventually, Shen Mubai got tired and curled up into a ball, letting out a soft “meow” before falling asleep.
The small snoring sound next to him made Jiang Yiran’s fingers—which were about to turn the page—slightly pause. Lifting up his gaze, his eyes fell on the sweet, sleeping cat beside him. The other party’s slightly bulging belly looked extremely conspicuous.
He watched her for about a minute, and then finally looked away with a blank expression on his face. He went back to reading the book in his hand.
For the next few days, Shen Mubai stayed at home. In addition to watching two episodes of cartoons every day, she occasionally secretly took some things from the refrigerator. Though she didn’t really take much. At most, she grabbed a small bottle of yogurt or a tomato.
But then, something sad happened. They ran out of her canned beef-flavored cat food! Jiang Yiran gave her another flavor, but Shen Mubai wasn’t used to its taste, so she only ended up taking a few bites and didn’t touch it again.
Jiang Yiran obviously noticed that she didn’t like it, so he fried her a small steak for dinner.
Shen Mubai was moved to tears and rubbed his legs as a “thank you”.
