That new singer-songwriter was Wang Chao’s ex-classmate, that former keyboard player.
His single was a folk-inspired love song and it received some attention once it was released.
Though not too much attention.
Members of ID know that he’s their captain’s classmate and that the latter doesn’t really like to talk about him, so none of them brought him up in front of him.
But behind his back, Gao Siyuan has asked Xie Zhuxing, “Doesn’t Captain have a bad relationship with that folk singer?”
Xie Zhuxing said, “Just a normal classmate relationship.”
Gao Siyuan was curious and wanted to dig even further, “But I heard that this person was able to release a single only because Captain had helped.”
Xie Zhuxing didn’t respond.
He thinks there’s definitely something that Wang Chao must have not told him.
But Wang Chao never mentioned that keyboard player again.
Duan Yikun, who established his own studio, has more or less gotten back on his feet after leaving the company. He has recently reconnected with ID, though their relationship is somewhat awkward, with most of the messages being back and forth congratulations.
Huixing’s new artist releasing a single, old employee establishing his own studio is only minor news. Even ID hosting a concert is something that only fans would discuss within their circle. Compared to this news, this August’s most explosive headline within the entertainment field is a reality tv show that surprisingly earned significant popularity.
Amongst a stacked list of summer reality shows, its ratings climbed with every episode, and its internet popularity was only beneath the one featuring Liang Xi.
At the center of all the discussions surrounding this show is a male supermodel who switched to acting mid-career, and has appeared in a couple of shows as a side character but never became popular, a type that the audience would find familiar but cannot recall his name. He turned his entire career around this time, his popularity skyrocketing with each episode’s release, promoting him from a no-name to a popular celebrity.
Wang Chao doesn’t watch variety shows. His hobbies used to be going to nightclubs and playing mobile games, and now only mobile games remain.
As such he never paid much attention to this ex-supermodel who suddenly became famous.
That is until his friend Zheng Qiuyang called him and boasted, “Didn’t I tell you my partner was going to be famous? What do you think now?”
Then he realized this long-legged supermodel is Zheng Qiuyang’s boyfriend.
Mr. Supermodel is out of town recording for the show’s newest episode. After boasting on the phone, Zheng Qiuyang was still jubilant and invited Wang Chao to have a couple of drinks at night.
The last time they hung out was when Xie Zhuxing was filming in Dali. Wang Chao also misses the taste of alcohol and has planned tonight, so he agreed.
He’s currently at the company with the rest of the group, making preparations for next month’s concert. Besides the dozen of songs from their albums, they are also going to perform some special songs, in addition to solos for each member.
Wang Chao is going to perform a cover of a classic love song and add a section of violin solo during the middle.
Xie Zhuxing, on the other hand, is going to both sing and dance. The selected song is bold and sexy, and to exaggerate the effects, they even found a female dancer to collaborate with him during the performance.
Wang Chao pushed open the door of the training room. Immediately, he spotted Xie Zhuxing practicing with that dancer along with the music. A dance that involves grinding on each other for more than ten seconds.
The Captain watched them with intense jealousy and only after they finished did he call Xie Zhuxing, “Come here, I have something to tell you.”
Xie Zhuxing came over only after he bade her farewell and said, “Hurry up and practice. Where did you go to slack off?”
Wang Chao proudly claimed, “Is there even a need to practice? I can play the violin segment even with my eyes closed.”
Xie Zhuxing said, “Alright, good for you. What did you want to say to me?”
Wang Chao gave him his car keys and said, “You should eat dinner with the rest of the group tonight. Make sure to drive the car back after dinner. A friend asked me to dinner tonight. I will definitely be drinking, so I won’t drive.”
Xie Zhuxing pocketed it and asked, “Which friend?”
Wang Chao answered honestly, “The one surnamed Zheng.”
Xie Zhuxing continued to ask, “Only dinner? Are you going to do anything else?”
Wang Chao exclaimed, “No, I won’t! Should I livestream it then if you don’t believe me?”
Xie Zhuxing doesn’t want to watch the live stream, he wants to go with him. But since Wang Chao didn’t ask him to join, he’s too shy to insist on coming along.
Wang Chao is not perceptive at all and obviously couldn’t detect his thoughts. He didn’t even want to bring him to begin with.
Who is he kidding? He’s still pretending to be the top in their relationship in front of Zheng Qiuyang. Had he brought Xiao Xie, a face-to-face conversation would have instantly revealed his secret.
As soon as they met in a restaurant, Zheng Qiuyang asked, “Where’s your partner? Why didn’t you bring him?”
Wang Chao replied with a half-truth, “He went home. He doesn’t like going out much, prefers quiet.”
Zheng Qiuyang chuckled, “I thought you were going to bring your partner, that’s why I reserved such a formal place. In this case, let’s go somewhere else, somewhere more loose and fun.”
Wang Chao hurriedly sat down and said, “Forget it. I only said that I was going out for dinner, and my partner already interrogated me as if I was a criminal.”
Zheng Qiuyang was only joking, so he sat down too.
Once they ordered, they began to chat about Zheng Qiuyang’s boyfriend’s show.
Wang Chao made sure to watch an episode before dinner to be ready for the conversation. “Your partner’s pretty funny. Most entertaining parts of the show are when he appears,” He complimented.
Zheng Qiuyang was proud, “For sure, he’s really smart.”
Wang Chao didn’t think he was smart. “Do you two argue?” He asked.
Zheng Qiuyang said, “No, he has an amazing temper. Moreover, there’s nothing to argue about. There’s no conflicts between us.”
Wang Chao scoffed at him, “Fuck off, what do you mean no conflict? We are essentially cut from the same cloth. My partner tracks me like tracking a thief, suspecting that I’m fooling around outside all the time. We argue almost everyday and sometimes even fight. Your partner is okay? Does he not know what you’ve done before?”
Zheng Qiuyang answered seriously, “How would he not know? I told him everything. He’s not the type to rake up ancient history.”
Wang Chao was unconvinced, “My partner doesn’t bring up any history either.”
Zheng Qiuyang found it strange, “Then what do you two argue about? Aren’t you behaving quite decently now?”
Wang Chao didn’t know either and said, “Just over trivial things. Sometimes an argument just begins over god knows what.”
Zheng Qiuyang thought they were still too immature and said, “Why can’t you two just talk about it?”
Wang Chao thought about it and said, “There’s no use of talking. I won’t listen anyways.”
Zheng Qiuyang, “
”
Wang Chao realized, “That’s why whenever we don’t argue for a couple of days I feel that there’s something missing.”
Zheng Qiuyang, “
You find arguments fun?”
Wang Chao became excited, “Not only arguments, we even fight! He’s trained in martial arts so I can’t win against him. He has a mild temper usually but whenever he’s about to fight it’s as if his entire personality has changed. He becomes so fierce and captivating. So handsome. Hehe, I love fighting with him.”
Zheng Qiuyang, “
”
Wang Chao recalled scenes fighting with Xie Zhuxing and bragged, “He doesn’t actually use much force when he fights, it never really hurt.”
Zheng Qiuyang, “
” How good it is to be young and so
kinky.
Before they went home after dinner, they agreed on the next time. Zheng Qiuyang said, “If they are both free next time, we can have a double date. You are all in the same field and can look out for each other once you get acquainted.”
Wang Chao agreed and they walked out of the restaurant shoulder to shoulder.
Since Zheng Qiuyang drove to the restaurant, he planned to call a chauffeur and send Wang Chao back home first.
As soon as they got to the restaurant’s entrance, they heard a car honking from the lot by the nearby stairs.
They both turned at the sound.
Wang Chao, “
Why’s this car so similar to mine?”
The person sitting in the driver’s seat also has a similar face to his partner.
Xie Zhuxing knows that they are at this restaurant. After practicing until 8:30 p.m., he thought the time was about right for them to leave, so he headed straight to the restaurant and has been waiting for about ten minutes.
He was worried that it wouldn’t be convenient for Wang Chao to get home after drinking.
And he wanted to see this famed Mr. Zheng.
Wang Chao doesn’t have a good judgment of character when it comes to friends. That keyboard player is a notable example.
Mr. Zheng immediately knew that it was his partner and waved excitedly at Xie Zhuxing across from the windshield.
Xie Zhuxing then came out of the car and greeted Zheng Qiuyang in return.
They quietly assessed each other.
Wang Chao only had enough mental capability to giggle, his grin almost stretching from ear to ear. He’s giddy and at the same time, shy. “How come you are here?” He said.
Xie Zhuxing made up a random excuse, “I was eating nearby. After I finished, I thought you would be done too, so I came over and waited for you.”
Wang Chao abandoned Zheng Qiuyang and hopped to wrap his arm around Xie Zhuxing’s shoulder. “Go, go, go, let’s go home,” He said happily.
Zheng Qiuyang has no one waiting for him at home anyways. “Eh? You’re leaving now? Didn’t you say that you wanted to go to a bar with me?” He joked.
Wang Chao, however, didn’t deny it and even chuckled, “You go by yourself, I won’t go today.”
Xie Zhuxing didn’t say anything, his face stern.
Zheng Qiuyang, “
” Guess he is really good at asking for a fight.
