Ch15 - Deserves Someone Better

After sending Liang Xi out, Wang Chao came back a bit later. Liang Xi agreed to help him spread publicity on the program. He was smiling, but there were several fresh shoe prints on his pants.

“Is Mr. Liang angry?” Cheng Yao asked him worriedly. “It’ll be awkward when we see each other in the future.”

Wang Chao didn’t seem to mind as he said, “Don’t worry. He’ll forget about everything by tomorrow morning. He won’t care as long as you don’t go around telling everyone.”

Cheng Yao quickly gestured that he definitely won’t go out and run his mouth.

Ji Jie stood up and said, “Since Mr. Liang has left, then that’s all for today. I’m going back.”

Everyone else stood up, wanting to leave too.

But then Wang Chao said, “Ah don’t, don’t. Since you’re here already, why don’t you do a spa first then leave?”

The others agreed, but Ji Jie was adamant on refusing. “I’m fine. I still have other matters to attend to.”

“What do you have to do?” Wang Chao asked.

Ji Jie didn’t think he would ask. He didn’t have an excuse made yet.

Wang Chao looked at Xie Zhuxing. Xie Zhuxing said understandingly, “Everybody’s already tired today; it’ll be better if we all relax. He has good intentions Ji Jie. Don’t look down on him.”

Wang Chao was dissatisfied. He looked at him. “What are you saying? Who’s looking down on who?”

Since they had to work together from now on, Ji Jie didn’t want to continue butting heads with Wang Chao. He just wanted to save some of his pride, and since the stage was on him, he took the opportunity. “Alright then. Thank you, Wang Chao.”

Wang Chao answered simply with a hm. He felt that he’s been nice enough to him, so he didn’t pay him any attention. He said to Xie Zhuxing, “Help me pat my pants – don’t know where Liang-ge has been that caused his shoes to be this dirty.”

Xie Zhuxing helped him pat off the dust, then he said arrogantly, “Alright then, since I said I’ll treat, you guys can order anything. Drinks, fruit, water, spa sets – as long as it’s on the menu.”

After they finished at the spa, he treated them to another meal. After they finished that, they each went their separate ways.

Ji Jie and Cheng Yao walked away in the same direction as they lived together. Gao Siyuan and Yang Xiaomu split up and each went their way.

Only Wang Chao and Xie Zhuxing were left. Wang Chao insisted on sending Xie Zhuxing home. He couldn’t help but agree. When they got near the car, Wang Chao got in the passenger’s seat and said, “I’m so tired today. My whole body’s soft from the spa. You drive.”

Xie Zhuxing could only drive.

As they got on the road, Wang Chao said a few useless words to him. As he spoke, his head tipped until he fell asleep.

When they arrived at Xie Zhuxing’s place, he woke Wang Chao up. “I’m here. You should hurry up and go back.”

Wang Chao looked outside the window blearily. He rubbed his eyes and wiped his saliva.

Xie Zhuxing got down from the car, and Wang Chao followed along. Xie Zhuxing thought  he was going to get into the driver’s seat, but he threw himself onto him and said, “No, I’m so tired. I can’t leave. I wanna go to your place and sleep.”

Xie Zhuxing, “…”

Wang Chao, who seemed so sleepy  it looked like he was about to faint any second, suddenly woke up after going upstairs and walking through the door. He was lively as he jumped up and down, walking in and out everywhere, as if he was a tourist.

“Not sleepy anymore? Go downstairs and drive home slowly. There’s nothing to see here in this broken down place,” Xie Zhuxing said.

Wang Chao was shameless as he spoke, “Chasing me out? How can you be so rude to a guest? Go go, hurry and get this guest some water.”

“There’s no water, but there is a 40 meter long knife.”

Wang Chao was infatuated with confidence. “No way, you wouldn’t have the heart to chop me up.”

Since he couldn’t chase him away, Xie Zhuxing said, “If you’re really going to stay, then hurry and go take a shower or else you won’t be able to get up tomorrow morning. It’s almost eleven.”

Wang Chao was very happy. “What are you scared of when you’re here? Your alarm clock is way better than my brother.”

After he came out from his quick shower, he found Xie Zhuxing putting a pillow on the sofa. He said unhappily, “What are you doing? I’m not sleeping on the sofa.”

“Who said you were gonna sleep on the sofa? I’m sleeping on the sofa,” Xie Zhuxing said.

Wang Chao still wasn’t happy. “Your bed is a double. We can both sleep on it.”

“I’m not used to sleeping with another person.”

Wang Chao was suspicious. “Did you sleep on the sofa all day when you were with your girlfriend?”

“How is that the same?” Xie Zhuxing asked.

Wang Chao remained unconvinced. “Am I not as close to you as that girl was?”

He picked up the pillow from the sofa and hugged it, pestering him endlessly, “How come she can sleep with you, but I can’t?”

Xie Zhuxing didn’t want to argue with him, so in the end, he slept on the bed.

Wang Chao was pleased. He laid on the bed playing with his phone while Xie Zhuxing went to take a bath. After he came out when he was done, Wang Chao had already fallen asleep.

Lights out, sleep.

After a short while, Xie Zhuxing was awoken by some movement outside.

The door to the bedroom was slightly open; there was light coming from the outside. Why was the light in the living room on?

He got up slowly. Wang Chao was still sleeping without a care.

He pulled open the door, and there was a woman standing in the middle of the living room with a suitcase by her side.

It was Yan Jiajia.

“Xiao Xie.” She turned back and looked at him, her face tired and aggrieved. “I’m back.”

Xie Zhuxing, “…”

She sobbed as she walked slowly in front of Xie Zhuxing, crying while she nestled up against his chest.

….Judging by her attitude, she probably broke up with the director.

She cried for a long time – so long that Xie Zhuxing had dozed off.

Wang Chao was still sleeping. He had a nightmare about a female ghost as he heard the vague sound of a woman crying. He was scared awake, hysterically reaching his hand over, wanting to touch Xie Zhuxing. However, he felt nothing, and when he listened closely, there really was the sound of a woman crying. He took a look, and—

“Xie Zhuxing! What are you doing!”

Yan Jiajia was currently vigorously crying. She didn’t think there would be another person in the house. She was shocked as she turned her head towards him. Xie Zhuxing stepped back and avoided her.

Wang Chao got up from the bed and walked over. He was only wearing his underwear as he walked to the door and got a clear look of Yan Jiajia.

He’s never seen her before, but he wasn’t dumb. He could guess who this person was. He wanted to annoy her as the first words that came out when he opened his mouth was, “This is your stupid ex girlfriend, right?”

Yan Jiajia, “…”

Xie Zhuxing could only tell him to put on his clothes first.

Wang Chao used his finger to hook his underwear and said, “I am wearing clothes. I have my pride, unlike someone.”

Yan Jiajia didn’t know who he was; she was confused. She stopped crying and asked, “Xiao Xie, who is he?”

Xie Zhuxing couldn’t speak in time as Wang Chao put an arm around his shoulder and his other hand’s thumb pointed to himself. He said proudly, “We’re best bros.”

Yan Jiajia was suspicious. She felt that Xie Zhuxing wouldn’t be friends with the type of person who had dim-witted written all over his face.

Xie Zhuxing, “Can you put on your clothes and wait for me downstairs…bro?”

Wang Chao didn’t want to. “Why would we go? Why does she get to stay?”

“I told you to go. Why do you talk so much?” Xie Zhuxing frowned.

Wang Chao saw that he was serious, so he reluctantly put on his clothes and said, “If you don’t come down within ten minutes, then I’m going to come up and find you.” He finally left after shooting Yan Jiajia many glares.

When he got downstairs, he didn’t get in the car. He sat on the hood of the car and stared at his watch for several minutes. After only a minute, he started to regret coming down. He should’ve just stayed up there and kept an eye on Xiao Xie.

That girl was definitely a green tea bitch. Coming to Xiao Xie in the middle of the night, she definitely wanted to seduce him. What if Xiao Xie couldn’t control her? And the two passionately go for a round, then get back together? What would he do?

He’s never seen what Xiao Xie looks like when doing it. Judging from his physique and adding on the fact that he runs every day, ten minutes wouldn’t be enough right?

After 7 minutes, Xie Zhuxing came down with a book bag. Wang Chao jumped down from the hood of the car and said, “What took you so long? What were you doing up there?”

“Didn’t do anything. I just took a few pieces of clothing.”

Wang Chao approached him and sniffed him like a dog.

Xie Zhuxing, “…What are you doing?”

Wang Chao pushed him into the car and said, “I’m smelling you to see if you guys did anything other than hug. Nothing, nothing, there’s none of that smell.”

Xie Zhuxing was pushed into the driver’s seat. “We didn’t hug or cuddle either.”

Wang Chao sat in the passenger’s seat with a face full of disdain and said, “Stop pretending, I already saw! You’re too soft-hearted. If it were me, I would’ve beaten her till she couldn’t recognize her mom.”

Xie Zhuxing frowned. “You’ve hit a woman before?”

Wang Chao fastened his seatbelt and said, “I’ve never hit them before, but I’ve also never seen such a cheap woman before either.”

“…”

“She definitely went through some hardships outside and suffered under some other man. She probably thought of how good you were to her and now she’s coming back to you. Look at how shameless she is – bullying such an honest person.”

Xie Zhuxing felt annoyed as he listened to him. “Stop talking.”

“Whatever. If you don’t want me to talk then I won’t. Wangjing West Park, go.”

He didn’t want Xie Zhuxing to get back together with his ex-girlfriend. He didn’t like Yan Jiajia. He felt that Xie Zhuxing could do so much better.
