Jiang Yinghe quickly discovered that he was wrong.
This bastard was really intending to marry him! He’d even got a matrimonial home and the vows ready to go!
This absolutely wasn’t a joke… However, everything other than this, were just lies.
Jiang Yinghe was seated on the soft bedding of the ‘matrimonial’ suite. He glanced at the dark sky outside, then down at the light blue lamp beside him.
The palace hall of the Patriarch was spacious and filled with carved illustrations depicting spirit deities and the ghost migration. The lamps were all lit with wildfire, which were cold to the touch. Other than a few servant spirits, it was completely quiet here.
Jiang Yinghe sighed. It felt like he wasn’t far off from being locked in a small, dark room. He was just missing the chains, torture instruments and whips…stuff like that. How did a clean and moral Shizun like him end up here?!
He raised the gauze curtain draped around the bed. By the nearby lamp, he was able to see several books on a bookshelf. He chose one at random and read its title, ‘Overview of Ghost Cultivators in the Nether Realm’.
…Huh?
It gave off a feeling as though looking through Wikipedia…Jiang Yinghe flipped it open to see detailed entries on different types of ghost cultivators.
From Earthbound Spirits and Glutton Ghosts…to the Yaksha and Rakshasa. There were diagrams, pictures and even tips on the most suitable cultivation practices for each species. After reading through half of it, Jiang Yinghe noticed that every entry had a notice written at the bottom, ‘Consuming a high-quality soul can advance cultivation’.
Jiang Yinghe’s hands paused, and a feeling of danger arose in his heart. He flipped forward a few pages to find the tips for consuming souls.
Jiang Yinghe felt a chill run down his spine as he reflexively closed the book, His mind ran off the rails. After a round of deductions, he came to ‘the truth’.
…Was Qin Jun planning on eating his soul while doing that…?
He thought that his pride as a man was the only thing that would be hurt. He never imagined that his life might be in danger as well. So, the other person lurked at his side this whole time in order to lull him into a false sense of security. All while planning to eat him?
Jiang Yinghe stared blankly at the facts laid out before him. He really was a failure in this life, wasn’t he? He tried his best to raise his disciple into a model cultivator of the next generation, all the while blind to his intentions. What deep master-disciple bond? It was just his wishful thinking.
The last ember of hope was about to be extinguished in his heart. He suddenly felt very wronged and the urge to cry welled up again. His chest felt stuffy and weighed down.
At this time, a familiar deep voice sounded from beside his ear. Qin Jun’s presence surrounded him as he embraced him from behind.
“Shizun…what are you looking at?”
Ever since this motherfucker recovered his cultivation, Jiang Yinghe had been unable to detect his footsteps anymore. He was lifted from the bed by those arms. They held onto his waist tightly.
He returned the book to where he had found it and let out a deep sigh. He emotionlessly said, “Nothing much.”
Qin Jun sensed his attitude, but there was nothing he could do other than to soften his own. “Shizun, I don’t like any female cultivators. The person I’ve always liked from the beginning has been you.”
Jiang Yinghe was too furious and upset right now to bother with his antics. This was just another scheme meant to deceive him. He shook off his embrace and said with a cold expression. “It is in the nature of ghosts to be deceitful. Which words from the Patriarch’s mouth should I trust?”
He knew that Qin Jun didn’t like to be referred to that way, but his emotions got the better of him. He couldn’t resist admonishing him some more. “If you have ever truly valued our relationship in the past, then let me go. And stay away from me…”
Wraiths didn’t have a real body made of flesh, they were a soul given solid form. But those words were like a serrated knife that plunged into Qin Jun’s most tender parts.
How could he stay away? How could he possibly stay away? He only felt love and kindness at Shizun’s side, but now Shizun was threatening to take all that warmth from him.
Qin Jun’s suppressed emotions were about to overflow. His already sensitive mental state was set ablaze by these words. There was a fire raging in his heart.
“No,” His voice was guttural, “don’t go.”
If Jiang Yinghe could leave he would’ve gone already. He took a calming breath and restrained himself. Suddenly his hand was caught by the other and he was pressed onto the bed.
Jiang Yinghe, ‘!’
Wait, wait a minute. Is my questionable sexual orientation about to be forcefully bent? No—even if it has to be like this, you’ve got to give me some time to think it over…right? He’s going to eat me now?! Can’t he wait a bit?!?
The other person gripped his hand tightly. He secured both of Jiang Yinghe’s wrists above his head. There was a truly frightening aura radiating from his body.
Jiang Yinghe struggled but to no avail. He then felt a soft silk ribbon bind his hands together. His scummy disciple then pressed down on his shoulders. His breath was loud and erratic.
“Shizun…”
He only called out once, soft and hoarse.
Jiang Yinghe wanted to hear what he would say next, but then he was suddenly kissed. His lips were touched by another pair.
Jiang Yinghe slowly widened his eyes. His brain that had been single for many years went into a state of shock. The other person penetrated his mouth, played with his tongue and sucked and rubbed at his lips.
He had no idea how to respond to being kissed. He even forgot how to breath. Qin Jun pressed the erotic kiss upon him for a long time. Long enough that the corners of his eyes turned red and his ears became inflamed to the touch.
At the same time, the wronged feeling in Jiang Yinghe’s heart reached a new peak—How could a student do this to their teacher?! Calling me Shizun all day while daydreaming about me roleplaying as his lover. What a bullying scumbag!
He roughly jerked at the ribbon securing his hands. It became looser after a few more tugs. He quickly pushed Qin Jun away and slapped him across the face before his brain could catch up.
The crisp sound echoed in the wide palace. The ghost cultivators outside did not move or make any sounds, as if they hadn’t heard anything.
Jiang Yinghe’s hair had come loose, and his clothes were a mess thanks to the other person’s licentious hands, which had been busy pulling at them in order to touch the jade-like flesh underneath. His lips were slightly swollen, and his inky black eyes held back tears.
He wiped his lips and cursed. “You brute.”
Jiang Yinghe didn’t care about the consequences of angering Qin Jun—What could he do other than murder him? You could kill a man, but you couldn’t take away his dignity. Plus, this was complete blasphemy against his teaching qualifications!
He could only regain his calm after quite some time. Only then did he want to glance at Qin Jun’s reaction. Just as he looked up, the other person hugged him again.
The action was identical to the way that he blocked the sword light from the mirror. It’s amazing how his perspective had changed in the past couple of days.
Jiang Yinghe was too tired to continue being angry with him. He allowed the other person to continue to hold him. He heard a raspy voice by his ear.
“Shizun…we need to alleviate the effects of the medicine.”
Jiang Yinghe was reminded by his words that the remnants of the ‘Seven Days of Joy’ would be effective for one more day. He needed to control his desires and let someone cleanse the remaining parts from his body.
Qin Jun placed his head on his Shizun’s shoulder and breathed in deeply before letting go. He placed the bracelet artifact on his wrist.
Normally, Jiang Yinghe would be tired by now. But too much had happened in the past two days, which has kept him awake. In addition, the Nether Realm was in a state of constant darkness, so his sleep cycle was thrown way off.
He saw Qin Jun place the bracelet on his wrist.
Due to the absurd disparity between their abilities, the inability to access his cultivation was like dropping from 5 attack points to 0. It really made no difference in front of a Half-step Golden Immortal.
Qin Jun didn’t remove his hand afterwards. He slowly grasped Shizun’s soft and slender fingers in his palm. “What do Li Huanhan and Chang Ye mean to you?”
Jiang Yinghe sent him a look. “Naturally they’re my disciples.”
Qin Jun stared at him meaningfully. He was almost empathetic to their plight. However, he said, “Don’t trust them.”
Jiang Yinghe was a bit surprised, “What do you mean by that?”
“I’m saying that…”
Just as Qin Jun opened his mouth, his words were interpreted by an earth-shattering commotion outside. He lifted his head as deafening explosions sounded. The Nether Realm was thrown into complete disarray as countless ghosts rose up.
Over the horizon, a cold voice crossed over thousands of miles.
“Qin Jun—!”
It was Li Huanhan’s voice.
“Get out here you son of a bitch!”
Qin Jun could detect, using his sixth sense, a shadow encased in heavenly demonic energy standing in midair. His dark robes were tattered, and the desire to kill was in his eyes.
Beneath his sword, the flow of the river in the Nether Realm had reversed. The previously dormant ghost cultivators screamed a thundering and fearsome warcry as they approached him.
Li Huanhan remained steadfast.
Qin Jun’s expression remained the same. He leisurely adjusted Jiang Yinghe’s clothing before covering his eyes with the ribbon which had previously been tied around his wrists.
Jiang Yinghe was taken aback when he found he couldn’t remove it from his face. He could hear a racket coming from outside, so he hurried to ask, “Is Huanhan out there? Wait, you—”
A finger against his lips silenced him. Qin Jun radiated a dark and suppressed aura.
“Shizun, don’t speak his name.”
Jiang Yinghe felt a sense of danger from his words so he subconsciously stopped trying to speak. He then felt Qin Jun rise with the Zhanyun sword in his hands.
—The matchup was clearly unfair. Even if everything went well during Li Huanhan’s seclusion, he was up against a Half-step Golden Immortal!
Jiang Yinghe’s anxiety overflowed and he couldn’t help but call out. “Patriarch…Jun-er!”
Qin Jun’s steps came to a sudden halt.
Jiang Yinghe said: “You…don’t hurt him.”
His voice clearly revealed his worry.
Don’t hurt him…
Qin Jun closed his eyes and breathed out sullenly. His heart was right in Jiang Yinghe’s hands, free to be pierced by his every action. His Shizun had taught a wraith like him, lacking blood or flesh, the meaning of pain.
Only through constant struggle could the feelings in his heart remain so vibrant.
Jiang Yinghe heard no response from the other. It was only after a short silence that Jun-er’s emotionally-charged words rang out.
“You tell me not to hurt him, but you’re willing to do this very thing to me.”
The footsteps grew distant.
Jiang Yinghe could not pull off the strip of fabric obscuring his vision. It must be some kind of artifact. He knew that Huanhan and Jun-er must be fighting by now, but there was only silence around him.
With both his hearing and sight taken from him, Jiang Yinghe calmed his heart to analyze Qin Jun’s parting words…What did they mean? How could a Half-step Golden Immortal like him be injured by a Nascent Soul cultivator?
He was more worried about Huanhan—His cultivation might not have stabilized so soon after exiting seclusion. If he put his life on the line…
The more Jiang Yinghe thought about Huanhan being able to injure Qin Jun, the more unlikely it seemed. His own situation was precarious enough, but his habit of behaving like an old father was acting up again—fussing over his beloved disciples’ wellbeing. He paced around the bed and tried calling for the system in his head a few times.
But the system was silent as if all it cared about was raising disciples. The astounding news that one of them suddenly turned into an evil cultivator didn’t seem to bother it much.
Just as he was completely helpless, the artifact covering his eyes was suddenly lifted. A small ghost stood before him.
He didn’t look like the one serving tea the past few days, and the resentful energy on him was rather weak…
Jiang Yinghe was in the middle of his thoughts when the person in front of him removed his disguise to reveal a scarred, yet beautiful face.
It was Chang Ye!
Jiang Yinghe watched as he put on his half-mask again before blinking at him.
“Shizun!” Little Chang Ye’s voice was barely above a whisper. “Let’s quickly get out of here!”
Jiang Yinghe was confused: “You…didn’t you return with Xiao Yun-shidi?”
Chang Ye brushed off his clothes and shed his ghostly disguise entirely. He took Jiang Yinghe’s hand in his as he spoke. “For some reason, I was suddenly really worried about Shizun. I felt something wasn’t right. So I followed you guys in secret and found out that something really was wrong! I never thought that Qin-shixiong was a ghost cultivator that abused Shizun’s considerations for him…”
He paused and urged Jiang Yinghe again. “Let’s hurry up and leave while he’s occupied—”
Jiang Yinghe trusted him, but he was still worried: “But your Da-shixiong…”
“He’ll be fine.” Chang Ye pulled him to his feet. “Shizun worries too much. The Patriarch wants to become cultivation partners with you, so how could he bear to kill your disciple?”
He added silently in his heart. “It’s more like he wants to dice his corpse into thousands of pieces.”
Jiang Yinghe, torn over leaving his vulnerable disciple to the tender mercy of his evil disciple, was dragged away by his youngest disciple. He saw Chang Ye circle around the bed and make a hand seal. The dimensional array around the palace suddenly shook. A weak spot revealed itself.
…How does Ye-er know the method to dispel this kind of array? Did I teach him this?
Jiang Yinghe stared dumbfoundedly at the hand pulling on his own. Chang Ye offered an explanation, “I learned this in secret from the ghost cultivators when I infiltrated the Nether Realm.”
He was lying through the skin of his teeth but you couldn’t tell from his bright expression. “I’ve already scouted it out. If we keep going in this direction, we can enter the main camp of the devil race. Then, if we pass through the Million Devil Outskirts, we can return to the Western Province!”
Jiang Yinghe listened patiently, but he had a strange feeling. He lightly frowned. “…This route?”
“Yep.” Chang Ye nodded. “The Nether Realm is really messed up right now, so it’s the perfect opportunity to escape. Although this route is roundabout, it’s our best bet for avoiding detection.”
Chang Ye glanced at the other person’s slightly messy hair and puffy lips. The smile on his face grew more dazzling, and a wave of possessiveness crashed over the shores of his heart.
He swept his gaze over the book on the table that showed signs of having been flipped through. There was some regret in his heart.
—If he had more time, he could’ve added more content.
It’s too bad that he could only add on the most basic and true fact about all evil cultivators.
