Mu Ruoyan's back was against the bedpost, he was only wearing a single thin garment open at his torso, his eyes half-closed, his mouth issuing small gasps for breath. Shan Chengling was nibbling on his neck, one of his hands took off Mu Ruoyan's robes in a slow motion while the other hand moved lower towards…
Amitabha. This immortal lord had truly lived as deity for far too long. I actually forgot that time of the day when you mustn't visit someone.
"Wu, they're so enthusiastic with their dual-cultivation."
I dragged Heng Wen Qingjun away from the scene without delay and shot straight back to our room. "I've sinned, I've made offence… when humans see these things it will be forever burned in their eyes."
"This lord here is an immortal. Besides, you and I went inside and by pure coincidence, happen to see a little something, that's all."
I sat down on the bed silently. Heng Wen took out his worn-out fan and fluttered it as he continued, "It's nothing to feel ill at ease about. Are you saying you've never done this when you were human?"
I coughed dryly. "I have, but mine were with women… it's a bit different from this kind of, cough, cultivating…"
"En, I've seen the pictures in the book, it is a bit different."
I jumped straight up from the sheer horror. "Saw in the book? What book!! How can you look at it?!" Jade emperor in heaven! Heng Wen Qingjun came down to the earth for the first time, if he comes back with his head filled with obscene foul things, thunders will definitely fly out and hack my soul until it was rendered into tiny pieces of ash in the wind.
"Why are you so alarmed suddenly? Since I am overseeing all the writings under heaven, I naturally have to have a look at all kinds of books. I went to the market when I had nothing to do in the Dongjun manor before. I bought myself several picture books and flipped through the content to see how this dual-cultivation is done." He rummaged around in his sleeves and took out a tiny little thing in the centre of his palms. It became big in a flash — and he now had a pile of books covered with ink blue skin.
He hoisted it up and patted the books and settled them on the tabletop. My hand reached out for one of the books and flipped the pages inside… Bright sparks danced within my vision.
And it's male x male eroticas.
When this immortal lord lived his human life… I went through millions of such books. I have also appreciated and compared some with my close friends and exchanged the best works we had.
However — this crime of influencing Heng Wen Qingjun to read such a thing is not a laughing matter in heaven. I am still very comfortable with living my life as an immortal, I don't want to be chained to the execution platform and be subjected to five thunder strikes.
As this immortal lord watched the pictures, my head ran with cold sweat. "Reading them had let me realise," Heng Wen said with long drawn out words, "that dual-cultivation was indeed a school of knowledge to study, and these books contained things worthy of discussion. A pity that the art is not drawn well and rather off-putting."
"That's because you bought something common from the market stall. Those books are drawn roughly, there's no novelty to it. The actual great works cannot be bought off the street at the markets, you need to get through special channels to get it. Those paintings are what can be called appealing."
The words I said reflexively re-invigorated Heng Wen's zest. "Oh?" He prodded for more information.
I wished I could tear off this mouth from my face.
Nan Ming and Tian Shu had been apart for so long, building up their emotions, deepening their desires. When Heng Wen and I blew out the candle to sleep for the night, the sounds from the room next door seeped over in waves.
The groans of the bed, Mu Ruoyan's intermittent moans, This immortal lord who had to listen felt ill at ease at heart. It was hard to make my head relax, too. Thankfully there was Guang Yunzi's body lying straight as a wood plank below the bed, putting to a stop the not-few-in-number sinful urges.
I fixedly looked at Guang Yunzi calmly and peacefully resting on the ground.
"What are you doing poking your head out off the bedside?" Heng Wen beside me spoke.
"Spring winds blows in waves, meanwhile Heng Wen Qingjun is lying next to me. I am afraid my immortal root will waver and commit a serious mistake. Looking at Guang Yunzi can make steady my mind."
Heng Wen laughed quietly, "This old man lying on the ground really does steady one's mind. Just keep looking then."
I heard the rustling from him turning around, then there were no other movements. Maybe he had fallen asleep.
I kept staring at Guang Yunzi until I gradually felt tiredness wearing me down. I fell asleep before I knew it.
My eyes closed, and I dreamed a dream.
After I became an immortal I haven't gotten many dreams, and this dream is exceptionally out of the ordinary.
In the haze of my consciousness, I was standing in the middle of a vast stretch of forest, peach blossom trees all around me. The dazzling blossoms covered all till the rose-tinted clouds of the ninth skies. Amidst the misty cloud, a vague figure of someone appeared to be standing in wait. I closed the distance between us and he looked back at me. I stared blankly.
An immortal's dream is their true heart. I realised that I was walking in a dream. When I saw him, I also realised that the dream was what's buried inside of me.
The truth of the heart can be concealed deep within, but one can't deceive oneself. I know not of when the heart began to move in that direction.
Perhaps thousands of years back, starting from the time I saw him from a distance up on the Ninth Heavens. The elegant eminent gentleman was right in front of my eyes, but so far above where I can reach. Yet, I can't help wanting to come closer.
I am very thankful to the heavens for these thousands of years that I spent living leisurely and freely. From the beginning I had the eternal lone luan fate. No matter how much I beg presumptuously, it will not come to be. To be able to see him from time to time, my heart is content with that.
At any rate I picked up immortality by mistake, there is the justification from my mortal root not being cleanly cut off yet. Just like when I was a mortal, knowing full and well that my hands could not pick the moon off of the skies, and still believing time and time again that perhaps I could.
This dream of mine now is my dirty heart.
Since it is a dream from the heart, I can let everything go.
I embraced the person in front of me and directly landed a kiss on him.
What are dreams for? It's where you could kiss those lips you dare not kiss, untie the clothes you dare not touch. Do what you absolutely cannot do as an immortal.
Lifting him up by the waist, I thought, it's worth it. It's worth it, even if Jade Emperor sends down his thunders to mince me into ashes. There's no regret, even if it was only just a dream.
Before my consciousness returned I know that I was perfectly content. Under the peach blossoms, red as sunset, I drew him tighter into my arms, and told him that, in fact, I had liked for him for thousands of years. In fact, I had longed for him for thousands of years.
He leaned against my shoulder and said quietly, "I also longed for you for thousands of years."
Then, I was woken up from the dream. When my eyes opened what greeted me was the top part of the mosquito net, to my left the bed was emptied, to my right there was Guang Yunzi lying on the ground.
Heng Wen was inside his own room, clear and refreshed, waiting for me to go down together to eat.
Furball was gloomily coiled on the chair, the mountain cat was dejectedly lying on the bed.
Heng Wen asked, "What good dreams did you dream last night? When I left, your face looked base and you were laughing like silly."
I forced out laughter a few times. "I dreamt that Jade Emperor gave me a promotion."
