For those of you that are curious about how my little anti-theft experiment went. Here’s some of my findings:
Chapters get copy pasted //cough stolen// around 2-12 hours from when I post.
lightnovelgate omits anything in html tags as well as breaks and just steals the text. Usually it also omits my text that go before and after hr lines so that usually includes all my comments and credits before and after each chapter. Sometimes if my first paragraph to the chapter is a ‘do not repost’ warning that gets deleted too.
As for the other site I’ve been keeping tabs on readlightnovel org they also updated when chapter 30 was posted. This site also steals images as well so illustration from chapter 29 was reposted. However previously posted chapters are not updated so illustrations on those are not reposted.
I will keep monitoring to see how situation plays out in the future. From what I’m aware all the content that gets stolen will be reposted as is at time of stealing and are never updated. So my content that are updated after they steal is usually safe. Judging on how big their catalog of stolen contents are I doubt they will actually manually fix or update seeing how they probably make plenty money from views without caring about the actual content.
Also recommend other translators to try out this method if they don’t mind the hassle. After all those sites are making hella kaching from your work.

Information like your name, search history, etc are just the basic. Information like credit card and banking information that are sometimes stored by your browser can get stolen too. This is only given since they let your read their stolen content for FREE. They gotta make the money somehow.
Now that you are more informed here’s a good tip. If you want to read novels but don’t know where to find them? NOVELUPDATES is your savior and grace. They host no stolen content and no soul stealing script. Best thing is they properly credit/link to translation group sites and update within minutes of new release.
