āā¦ā¦.Hmmmmmm, i see, i see. The method to do magic is this way. This feels just like downloading data.ā
Since Iām the only one who can use it, is it okay to rename what Iāve downloaded?
Yea, letās do that.
I wonder if I can call it [To Fall From the Sky]?
From what I can imagine, it certainly has that impression.
Information just flows into my head from somewhere.
Once itās registered in my body, I can call it forth with just a thought later.
My head suddenly feels good but I canāt perfectly describe the feeling, seems like itās going to be a habit.
Furthermore, after the magic is downloaded, it comes with supplementary explanations which are very user-friendly. Itās very good for me that it seems like I donāt need to memorize the magical chants.
āWhat what? This level of great magic naturally requires a large amount of Mana. Sacrifice? Vessel? What should I do?ā
If you squint at the explanation, it seems like this magic requires creatures.
Then, a well-timed animal sound reached my ears.
Outside the window, I can see a tree frog, itās singing right beside the window.
āCould it be fateā¦. but I feel sorry for it.ā
I felt a pang of guilt but I still eventually caught the frog.
Iāve been catching frogs with my bare hands since I was in gradeschool.
Tree frogs are poisonous so Iāll wash my hands thoroughly.
Drawing a complex symbol in the room using chalk, placing the frog in a suitable vessel, the preparations are all set.
āā¦ā¦Alright. Letās try testing it out then!ā
Ready, the image inside my head becomes more vivid.
I feel as if Mana is flowing out from my body since a while ago.
The outgoing Mana transforms into Magic, filling and writing over specific stretches of space.
Mana is drained out of me, at the same time, I finally understand what it means to change reality.
āThen, Iām counting on this! [Resurrection of the Dead]!ā
When I checked the developments, I had a satisfied smile.
And I have opened a door which led to the mysteries that mankind can only dream of.
The croaking frog became a person.
āā¦ā¦..what is this?ā
When I came to, my surroundings have changed.
Fog hung over one side resulting to it have poor visibility.
Silently walking over inside the thick fog, there is an abundance of colorful flowers, I realize that itās a garden.
A flower gardenā¦.. as well as the magic I used.
I really canāt help but have a bad feeling.
And then, further in the distance are creatures waiting with their eyes visible to me. The bad feeling spiked up when I noticed those.
A large river suddenly appeared in front of me without my notice. There is a small boat as well as a demon dressed in rags.
Oh wow, demons really exist, donāt they.
Two horns and red skin, no matter what angle I look at, itās definitely a demon.
And for the piece de resistance, his googly eyes are facing me ā I gasped for air.
āIsāt thee? He who hath opened the gates to the afterlife?ā
āā¦ā¦itās rather Japanese.ā
āThatās what you want to askā¦ā¦the landscape here will depend on your concepts of the afterlife, what you see doesnāt really mean anything.ā
āAh, makes sense.ā
We~ll, this [Resurrection of the Dead] thing needs me to fetch a soul from the underworld, I just thought itās gotta be like this.
Itās just that, if you go into a strange place like this, see a real demonā¦ā¦.. my first impression would be to think heās Japanese.
There might be quite a variety, but the religion closest to me would likely paint this kind of picture.
āWhat doth thee wish for?ā
Ignoring my bewilderment, I just witnessed a demon change the way he speaks just to fit in the situation, I finally remembered my original goal.
Thatās right, I have a valid goal in coming to this place.
āA-, actually I just want to revive the old man who just crossed overā
I was anxious since I wouldnāt know what else to do if heād dismiss me, but the demon is unexpectedly polite in his own way.
āā¦ā¦.Reviving the dead should be originally impossible. Do you have enough?ā
āSpecifically, how much?ā
āIn your standard magic measurement, 30 000ā
āThen Iāll take it.ā
I suddenly blurt that out.
What, itās incredibly cheap, right? Whatās wrong with it?
It seems that we took a strange turn when the demon suddenly looked frightened.
āWha-what are you saying! Normally it would take 30,000 sacrifices to fulfill the requirements of this magic!ā
āā¦ā¦no, we~ll, Iād still take it.ā
āā¦ā¦why would you die for it?ā
I canāt really explain it well myself, so I mutter, the demon was probably unsatisfied with my answers, but my full payment of magic is on the table, so he just gave up and sighed.
āOh dearā¦ā¦. it canāt be helped. Wait for a bit.ā
The demon got on the boat and rode into the mist to the other side of the river.
I think itās around thirty minutes after?
I just waited beside the misty riverbank.
The demon returned with a strange ball of fire in his hands.
āHere, this is what you paid for, take itā
Anchoring the boat, the demon handed over the strange ball to me.
The weak fireball slowly drifted towards me.
I received it since it looks like it might disappear in any moment, I confirmed my trade with the demon.
āItās this one? Then weāre good?ā
āAh, no doubt it is. Iāve confirmed that itās the person from your memories. If not, then my bad.ā
āYes, thank you very muchā¦ā¦.. is it really alright that this is too easy?ā
āNo no! Thereās no way thatās right! People normally cannot do this, you know? Ah, additionally the gate to the underworld that youāve opened may distort itās senses. Bewareā
āEh!? In that caseā¦ā¦ā¦ is it premature to use the old man?ā
āDid you say something?ā
My real intention mightāve been busted.
But that has nothing to do with it, Iām worried that the soul I finally obtained might get evil or defective.
Moreover, the magic that I spent may be a one-time use magic, so itās more troubling.
Since itās the case, I should just ask.
āā¦ā¦nono. By the way, since you can transfer magic, can I restore this guyās power? He kinda tried to make me inherit his.ā
If possible I would like a better assessment of the situation.
I only thought it on a whim but the demon unexpectedly indulged me.
āHm? Indeed the soul is broken. Piecing back a broken soul should be done first. Youāll have to use more Mana, want me to repair it?ā
āThen yes please.ā
Since I answer impulsively, even the demon got speechless.
āUh, hmmā¦. a non-standard human has appearedā
I handed the fireball to the exhasperated demon.
A gentle glow appeared, and the fireball became a lot more lively.
āThere, itās fine like this, right? Hurry up and go home, Iām quite busyā
A whooshing dog-like creature suddenly appeared.
I donāt want anything to do with it, so I turned my back.
My, itās amazing but I really went through a lot of trouble, didnāt I.
Maybe Iām just the kind of person whoās easily amazed.
Donāt you think itās usually not possible? That reviving the dead is actually doable.
well, we have a mess.
T/N: Ā This wasnāt in the manga. The LN goes very detailed when it comes to the MCās exploits. What I appreciate about this is that we get another dimension again ā although that begs the question: is this dimension exclusive to his new world?
āCause if itās not, and itās a shared graveyard, then the demonās reaction would imply the MCās Mana is high not just in the ānew worldāsā standards. From the manga, I thought that the Mana in the worldās residents are low compared to other worlds, like the MCās home planet. Then again, the people theyāve summoned donāt really step in the millions ranking⦠still more powerful than your average residents though.
Also, the chapters are getting shorter so I might update more than I planned. Still, no promises since I need to do some things for my job irl.
