âOh hey? Thereâs seems to be some commotionâ
MorningâŚâŚactually itâs close to noon. We just woke up from our sleep and there seems to be a commotion going on.
Looking below, the innkeeper has a troubled look on her face, the aunts and uncles present seem to be trying to encourage her.
Weapons and armors are busily being passed around, just like a scene before battle.
âWhat happened? Is something the matter?â
Of course we would immediately like to hear the story of the scene we just walked into, so we came down.
Then the innkeeper tells us without even trying to hide her urgency.
âYou two! Have you guys seen *** anywhere?!â
ââŚâŚis this about the Ribbon girl?â
Scanning the faces present and deducing whoâs missing, I asked without confidence in my guess, and the innkeeper nods.
âUnfortunately, we havenât seen her. Where was she seen last?â
âAbout that, that idiot. She might have entered the forestâŚâŚâ
âThe forest?â
By forest, does she mean the dangerous forest she spoke about yesterday?
Thereâs certainly a reason to worry.
âIâm sorry, I said something unnecessaryâŚ.â
âThatâs right! You bastard!â
Thereâs a man wearing armor near us.
The old man is apparently someone who collects herbs from the forest for a living. He also seems to have said something about it yesterday.
It caught Ribbon-chanâs attention.
âI carelessly mentioned that there are herbs in the forest. That thereâs probaby one that could cure her dadâŚâŚâŚIâm really so sorry!â
The old man seems really regretful with his bowed head.
The nearby entrance to the forest is dangerous, itâs infested with wild and violent beasts. However, normally itâs not a problem.
Itâs just that for the past two or three days, the magical beasts have been more active than usual and it made the residents wary.
âAdditionally, just yesterday, they were diligently roaming around the place full of herbsâŚ..â
And this morning, nobody has seen Ribbon-chan so they looked for her.
There seems to be someone who saw Ribbon-chan run into the forest.
Then they finally decided to search for the ribbon girl who just wonât show up.
âWithout even a word to us, that girl has been missing for hours. If something happens to herâŚâŚ.â
The onlookers were also worried for the anxious innkeeper.
ââŚâŚ.it seems to be very worrisome.â
Kawazu-san also expressed his concern, but he added in a lower voice, which only I could hear,
ââŚâŚ..weâre probably the reason why the magical beasts have become more activeâ
ââŚâŚ..what do you mean by that?â
We instantly ushered into a corner to talk about it.
âDidnât I tell you yesterday? There are beings who could feel magical power. Humans aside- wild animals, for example, are very sensitive to that. It wonât be odd if they cause a ruckus when a somoene of your ânatural-disasterâ level of Mana would approach.â
ââŚâŚ.so what are you saying? That weâre the cause of this trouble?â
âDonât make a mistake, okay? Itâs not âweâ, itâs just âyou'â
ââŚâŚâ
Isnât that bad on so many levels? Think about my mental state.
Iâm only knowing this now but a small child may die because of it.
Through my fault.
I didnât know the timing, I didnât know such a thing.
I can come up with a lot of excuses, but itâs already happened.
I think about the passing guests who are looking our way and a cold sweat ran down my back.
Yes, itâs very bad.
She even introduced us to a good inn. Shouldnât we at least return the favor?
While it was getting busier, I made up my mind and called the innkeeper.
âThen Iâll look for her in the forest, shall I?â
My offer sounds generous and the mother was surprised.
âWell, Iâd be happy if you lend me a hand butâŚ..â
âItâs probably okay, we were planning to survey the place anywayâ
I disregarded her concerns in front of everyoneâs frightened looks, and I only gave her a passing nod and a smile.
The one that was the most surprised was Kawazu-san who wasnât buying it.
âIs this really fine?â
âLetâs find her for now. Ah, by the way, I donât want anyone to enter the forest for the next thirty minutes. Is that okay?â
âWhy? We might not find her without their help, right?â
Now, I said something adventurer-ish, so itâs best to keep that illusion.
âWe~ll, in any case, weâre not entirely sure if sheâs in the forest. I have a little secret plan anywayâ
ââSecretâ -hey youâŚ..â
âI have magic. Anyway, for now itâs enough. Then Iâll be goingâ
Leaving the nonsensical assurances of a stranger, I cut off the conversation and entered the forest.
