Upon obediently rubbing his forehead and cheeks against Sehunâs sweater, Yoonshin sighed deeply. At that moment, Sehun lifted the younger manâs skinny body, seated him on his thighs, and stared at Yoonshin directly. Soon, their lips locked, their heads angled slightly so they could fit, and they pulled apart after a short kiss.
âHave you ever received a blank check?â
âWhatâs with that, out of the blue? Are you going to give one to me? Youâre going to talk about repayment after, right? I wonât take it.â
âDonât regret it later and answer my question honestly. Who do you like better: me or your sister?â
Yoonshin was taken aback by such a childish question and replied concisely, âYouâre in completely different categories. I donât sit on my sisterâs lap like this. Why do you keep asking me these random questions?â
âI met your sister not too long ago. She asked me to take care of you for a while, that her relationship with her husband isnât very good.â
Yoonshin felt his heart plummeting to the pit of his stomach and grew tense. The pinkness in his cheeks from his contact with Sehun swiftly drained to white.
The vague words that Sehun left him at the hotel the other day and this story fit like puzzle pieces, leading to a conclusion of sorts. He wasnât sure what, but there must have been some change to his sisterâs situation. It also seemed like Sehun had a better idea of the big picture than he did.
âMy sister said that to you herself? What did she⌠Did she say anything else?â Yoonshin asked, anxiously.
âDid she need to say anything else?â
âI donât know. I donât know much about anything at all. How much do you know? My sister wonât tell me anything. She must think that Iâm still a child. I donât know what my sister said to you, but you donât need to feel obliged to do anything for me, so rest easy. I can deal with my issues myself.â
ââŚâ
âW-weâre not breaking up, right?â The younger manâs eyes that were glistening with affection and shyness turned dark like they were stained with murky watercolors. Yoonshin was convinced that Sehun knew enough about the situation that his anxious, honest thoughts seeped out. Sehun stared at the antsy Yoonshin with an impassive face. His face was impassive, but he was very prudent and genuine.
At least, Sehun was looking directly at Yoonshin with all his attention.
âOf course not,â Sehun replied. Yoonshin felt relieved. Sehun added, âMy first impression of you when you entered the firm still stands.â
âYour first impression?â
âYouâre a total naĂŻve fool. To begin with, you should have opened up about everything. Is your sisterâs word the law? Lawyers canât divulge information from their consultations in the first place. Thereâs no way that I would tell your sister even if you told me. Are you an idiot or something?â
âHow could I have trusted someone like you? How would I know that you wouldnât strike a deal with my brother-in-law? And what would I do with myself if you dumped me because this all became a hindrance to you?â
Now, Yoonshin depended on and trusted Sehun a lot more, but just a few months ago, Yoonshin thought that, although Sehun was competent, Yoonshin couldnât depend on the older lawyer. Sehun must have known that and frowned in disapproval. He pinched Yoonshinâs cheeks, pulling them. âRight back at you. Whoâs the one who trespassed into my office in the dead of the night like a stray cat?â
Yoonshin jumped in surprise.
No wonder. Yoonshin had thought that Sehun occasionally said enigmatic things, but it seemed like he had known about this from the start.
âThat one is a misunderstanding. I didnât go in because of my sisterâs issue. That was about the file that you gave me. I wondered how on earth you acquired them.â
âAre you sure Iâm misunderstanding?â Sehun challenged.
âWhat do you think I am?â Yoonshin asked, incredulous.
âA petty thief.â
The urge to defend himself surged. Yoonshin wanted to wave his hands in denial, but realizing that he wasnât completely innocent on this matter, he slowly nodded in understanding.
