Gleaning that this situation was worse than expected, I took another look at the [Status Window]. There may be a clue in resolving the penalty situation.
However, nothing changed even if I pressed the red warning message. At that moment, Koo Hui-seo, after staring at my futile efforts, suddenly asked, âDoes Seo Dawon-ssi know that Lee-kyung-ssi is injured?â
ââŠâŠYeah.â
âThen, hasnât he come here?â
âCircumstances happened.â I barely managed to spit out something that didnât seem too awkward, but I was still nervous because Koo Hui-seo didnât look like he fully believed me.
Koo Hui-seo probably noticed that Seo Dawon wasnât an ordinary human being. Since his mother was Chairwoman Shin, a former shaman and Witch, she may have passed some hints to him or he may have inherited some of her senses.
However, Koo Hui-seo had never publically wondered about Seo Dawonâs identity nor had he acted on his doubts, so I never had to explain anything. And, if he knew exactly what was happening, I thought I shouldnât let him know about Seo Dawonâs current helpless state.
Considering the misgivings Kim Olim and Seo Dawon had about Koo Hui-seoâand the way he dealt with Koo Kyungmanâhe may consider this time where Seo Dawon couldnât intervene a golden chance for himself.
Of course, Koo Hui-seo had signed a contract that prevented him from harming me, but I shouldnât let down my guard since heâs such an unusual character.
""
Thinking about it that way, my absent servants were so mean.
âYouâve always warned me to stay far away from Koo Hui-seo⊠As soon as I collapse, you call that same person?â
Could they not trust Kim Sangyoon?
No, Koo Hui-seoâs explanation may have been somewhat arbitrary. I didnât think heâd deceive me on purpose, but something was weird⊠Contrary to the servantâs intent, Koo Hui-seo may have been the first to find my collapsed body and taken me to the hospital. He may not be lying, but that doesnât mean heâs speaking the truth.
My suspicion of other people was largely influenced by Seo Dawon. Once or twice (or many times before) Iâve been stabbed in the back after just passing over such inconsistencies. The current situation may also be brought about after Koo Hui-seo had calmly committed something unimaginable.
So, while swallowing a deep sigh, I didnât bother to give a detailed explanation to Koo Hui-seo. I didnât want to particularly depend on him any more.
However, Koo Hui-seo obstinately insisted on asking questions today. âThen, will Seo Dawon-ssi be unable to come here for a while?â
âNoâŠHeâll probably arrive soon.â
âWhen?â
âThatâŠIâll have to contact him to knowâŠâ
âShould I lend you my cell phone?â
I felt strangely tested after he took out a cell phone from somewhere on his body.
Koo Hui-seo blinked fiercely but did not stop his urging hand. Of course, I couldnât accept that phone. Who on earth could I contact in order to pretend to set up an appointment with Seo DawonâŠ
While I dithered, Koo Hui-seo retracted his outstretched hand and looked at me blatantly. Then, he smiled meaningfully. My hesitation was answer enough for him.
With an amused expression, he asked, âIt seems that Seo Dawon-ssiâŠis in a situation where he canât be contacted.â
âItâs just because I donât want to disturb him while heâs doing something else. But, If Iâm in dangerâŠâ
âYouâre in danger right now. You vomited blood⊠Your body temperature wouldnât rise properly, so you were in the ICU until yesterday.
God damnâŠ
I faltered and looked up; Koo Hui-seo bent over and looked down at me, like someone staring at a child in a cradle.
I was afraid of the incomprehensible smile that adorned his lips. However, I shouldnât make that obvious. I calmly returned Koo Hui-seoâs hair-raising gaze without closing my eyes.
âLee-kyung-ssi, your heart is racing incredibly fast.â
Beepâ Beepâ Beepâ
Ironically, though, an electrocardiogram sensor was attached to my chest.
When my face turned clearly red with the ECG machine sound, Koo Hui-seo outstretched a hand towards my flinching self; he placed his finger on my face, close enough to poke my eye. I reflexively closed my eyes, butâŠinstead of the expected pain, I felt a gentle brushing touch.
âWhy is he touching my eyelashesâŠ!â
With just that, I pretended to ignore him, but Koo Hui-seo took it another step further. He covered my eyes with one hand. On top of that, it was difficult for me to remove his hands by force since it was so heavy.
Andâwhatever he was doingâsilence reigned between us. I opened my mouth to protest his actions, but suddenly he broke the silence first. âAre you still scared of me?â
ââŠâŠâ
âI still havenât done anything, yetâŠâ
ââŠâŠâ
âMmmâŠWhyâŠIs it because youâre lying down like thisâŠ?â His tone was full of amusement, but, as Koo Hui-seo touched my eyes, my intestines cringed. Should I say that it felt like a murderer hiding an awl behind his back was wandering nearby?
âPleaseâŠmove your hand.â Even so, I couldnât continue to suffer like this. Though I was terribly anxious, I expressed my dislike.
Koo Hui-seo seemed hesitant, but eventually pulled his hands off my eyes. Then, as soon as I opened my eyes, he bowed his head towards me and rubbed his lips around my eyes. He even made kissing noises.
Unable to endure, I swung my arm and pushed at Koo Hui-seoâs head hard, but only a few strands of hair on his head were disturbedâŠit didnât seem like he was affected at all. However, after being hit two or three more times, he slowly retreated. Huffing and Puffing, I glared at him as he took his hands out of his pants.
I looked at him, wondering why his hands were even there, but that thought stopped short when I saw his bulging crotch.
After giving another man such a huge shock, the pervert laughed shamelessly with a flushed face. âIâll⊠come again tomorrow.â
Is he really trying to walk out without an apology?
Angrily, I yelled at him, âAre you crazy?!â
âWhyâŠâ
âJust what did you do to meâŠNo, Just what did you do right now?â
âThatâs why I covered your eyes, thoughâŠâ
âYou crazy bastard!â I yelled again. Perhaps because of my rapidly elevated blood pressure, I became dizzy and flopped back onto the bed again. Koo Hui-seo stared at me from a distance before pressing the âNurse callâ button.
âDonât let that bastard back in here!â I shouted at the medical staff running into the room while pointing at Koo Hui-seo, but I wasnât sure if my words were delivered properly because an oxygen mask was so hastily shoved onto my face.
* * *
âHyung-nim, do you want me to peel you more apples?â
âLee-kyung-ssi would probably prefer bananasâŠâ
Afterwards, I, feeling threatened, sent Kim Sangyoon a party message; the warrior ran to Ahn Hospital at once. I had thought of asking the medical staff to bar Koo Hui-seo entry, but I doubted he could be stopped by the medical staffâs power. Thus, I thought about crafting a human wall.
Of course, I couldnât explain the detailed circumstances, but Kim Sangyoon happily accepted to be my caregiver when I requested that of him. And, he even took caregiving quite seriously.
""
For a while, I felt sorry for leaving unpleasant tasks to Kim Sangyoon. As soon as visitor hours opened at 6 p.m, Koo Hui-seo arrived with both hands full of fruit baskets and drinks.
I yelled at him to get lost; Kim Sangyoon was embarrassed, but soon succeeded in pushing Koo Hui-seo into the corner. Even though he was driven to where the radiator was located, Koo Hui-seo continued to look at me with a smile on his face. Then, despicably, he continued to give his opinion.
âGive me an apple. An apple.â I said.
âYes!â
I completely ignored the bastard, responded to Kim Sangyoon, and increased the TVâs volume.
Kim Sangyoon, caught between me and Koo Hui-seo, looked like he was at a loss. However, when he realized I was purposefully ignoring Koo Hui-seo, the warrior moved his seat so he could hide me with his body.
As soon as he did that, Koo Hui-seo sighed deeply and apologized to Kim Sangyoonâs back. âLee-kyung-ssi, I did wrongâŠâ
ââŠâŠâ
âActually, I meant to do it at home, but I couldnât hold it in any longerâŠâ
âIf you say another word, Iâll actually kill you.â
âH-Hyung-nim⊠Put down the fruit knifeâŠâ Kim Sangyoon whined.
Of course, his apology was quite one-sided.
If only I was able, I wouldâve stabbed him. However, my condition was far from recovered; while I was impeded by sudden muscle pain, Kim Sangyoon caught the hand holding the fruit knife. Sangyoon restlessly watched me. One by one, he peeled my fingers from the knifeâs handle and removed it from my grasp.
