Chapter 144: You Wanna Dance?  Forceful Suppression
“Did you see it? Did you guys see it?”
A Pangu trainee suddenly felt vindicated and burst into laughter after seeing Ling Jiu smashing the Centipede Dragon’s skull.
“I told you Ling Jiu was going to defeat the beast’s defense. Yet you didn’t believe it. Now what are you all going to say about it?”
Everyone remained silent. Seeing was believing.
“Ling Jiu is so badass?” Han Chujun was wide-eyed. “When did he become so badass?”
“I underestimated him.” Francis looked grave. “But—”
“But what, my dear?” Han Chujun looked at her boyfriend.
“He has shattered the beast’s hard armor, and the obstacle standing in our way no longer exists, which means we can kill the beast now.”
Francis lunged out in a flash and got up over the Centipede Dragon’s head as soon as his voice trailed off.
“Thank you for breaking this brute’s armor. After I take out the energy crystals from its belly, I can give a few more pieces to you!”
The other trainees’ eyes lit up. They all could not wait as soon as they heard what Francis said.
The Centipede Dragon was vulnerable now since its hard armor on the head was broken.
Would this not mean that they could take the energy crystals out from its stomach?
Everyone was an eager beaver and ready for a fight with this thinking in mind.
“There are only a few dozen energy crystals. With so many people here, they are not enough to go around. I have got to grab as many energy crystals and as quickly as possible.”
Everyone started to think inwardly, caring only about themselves, as if the comrades who were joining forces with them were competitors.
“Give me a few more?”
Ling Jiu smirked as he looked at Francis. “I can do it myself. I don’t need your help.”
“You must have misunderstood something, Ling Jiu.”
Francis scowled. “We all found this Centipede Dragon together. The energy crystals in its stomach should belong to all of us. You can’t change this, although you were the one who shattered its armor.”
“Exactly.”
“Francis is right.”
“We found this Centipede Dragon, and everything, including the energy crystals, should rightly belong to all of us.”
“Who is trying to hog the energy crystals?”
“We won’t allow that to happen!”
All the trainees clamored. They admitted that Ling Jiu was stronger than any of them but they were not afraid of him collectively.
So what if he was the one defeating the Centipede Dragon’s defense? They would not be afraid of him since there were so many of them. Could Ling Jiu take on so many of them?
“Did you hear that, Ling Jiu?”
Francis folded his arms in front of his chest with a faint smile on his face. “Stop thinking of keeping all the energy crystals to yourself. Even if I agree, everyone else here will not!”
“Listen, step aside. Let me kill this Centipede Dragon and I will give you a few more of the energy crystals.”
“These guys are shameless!”
Shi Gang gritted his teeth. “If it weren’t for Ling Jiu, they could not have defeated the Centipede Dragon’s defense, let alone taking out the energy crystals. Shame on them!”
“That’s human nature.” Dylon shook his head.
Looking at those clamoring trainees, and at Francis, who was leaning back and watching, Ling Jiu’s face broke out in a smile. “Do you all also want to dance?”
“What do you mean?” Everyone was taken aback.
“How dare trash like you all think of taking away my things? You all should be ashamed of yourself!” Ling Jiu’s expression changed abruptly. “Tenfold gravity force!”
A terrifying gravity force crushed them to the ground. Only a few could withstand this terrifying force.
Francis was one of them. He fought back the tenfold increase in gravity and stared dead at Ling Jiu. “What are you doing, Ling Jiu?”
“You are not qualified to talk to me!”
Ling Jiu raised his leg and kicked Francis on his chin, sending him flying backward.
Francis defied the tenfold gravity force and did a somersault midair before landing steadily. “You are too much, Ling Jiu!”
He lunged at Ling Jiu at once.
“Not bad!”
The corners of Ling Jiu’s mouth were upturned. “Twentyfold gravity force!”
Francis trembled all over, his movement slowing down. As powerful as his physique was, the twentyfold increase in gravity force was simply too much to take.
More so for the other trainees, who could barely stand up but were pressed to the ground.
Only Han Chujun and that Pangu trainee standing far behind were unaffected.
“I knew it! I knew it would be like this!”
That Pangu trainee trembled with excitement. “How dare those guys go against Ling Jiu? They are looking for trouble!”
“I can’t believe that Ling Jiu is so badass!”
It shocked Han Chujun again. Ling Jiu’s smashing of the Centipede Dragon’s defense earlier was all about his physical power. But power was only a part of an arcanist’s strength.
Many powerful, physically enhanced arcanists only possessed brute power, but their actual combat effectiveness was quite average.
Physical power was not the only measurement of an arcanist’s combat strength. Speed, defenses, endurance, damage ability of an arcana were also crucial.
This was also an vital reason everyone still dared to challenge Ling Jiu for the energy crystals after Ling Jiu showed his terrifying physical power. There would always be someone more powerful than you were in terms of physical power.
Not to mention that there were so many people here.
Ling Jiu did not use his physical power right now. Instead, he was performing a Gravity Arcana, crushing everyone down to their knees.
“Stop it, Ling Jiu!” Han Chujun shouted.
“Who are you to order me? I was calling you my old classmate out of courtesy. It seems like you don’t even know your place.”
Ling Jiu sneered. “Speaking of which, I have got to commend something about you, old classmate. You could have found someone else as your boyfriend. Why this guy?”
Han Chujun could not find a word to respond for a time.
“OK, I’m just kidding. Don’t take it seriously!”
Ling Jiu suddenly shook his head, flicking his fingers with a smile and sending everyone, including Francis, flying out backward.
Those trainees clambered to their feet after the gravity force was lifted, their faces pale, as if they had just been brought back from death.
